Fauci’s COVID Reckoning Isn’t Over Yet
Dr. Anthony Fauci’s legal troubles are far from over. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced Wednesday that he, along with the attorneys general of West Virginia and Louisiana, issued a subpoena to Fauci to investigate whether he personally profited from the COVID-19 guidance he issued while advising the White House.

From the Daily Caller:
“Government officials have a certain level of immunity in their official capacities, but if Fauci personally profited off the ‘guidance’ he issued, that very well could have broken Florida law,” Uthmeier said in the announcement. “Fauci’s diary focused more on self-promotion than the legitimate safety concerns from the mRNA vaccines. While Fauci was pushing for book deals, awards, and fortune and fame, Floridians were being deceived and harmed by his misrepresentations.”
West Virginia Attorney General John McCuskey and Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill also joined the subpoena, calling for transparency while emphasizing that this is a national issue.
“What we know already is Fauci lied — we just don’t know yet how much,” Murrill said. “The truth will come out.”
The subpoena requests information spanning from January 3, 2020, through the end of August 2026, related to Fauci’s COVID-19 activities within Florida. It seeks records on awards he received or was considered for, grants awarded to him, professional opportunities offered, financial incentives he may have pursued, and his communications with media outlets and businesses. The request also covers documents related to vaccine and booster efficacy, natural immunity, potential adverse effects, messaging strategies, and communications with vaccine manufacturers.
This latest action follows just a week after Uthmeier, who was appointed by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in February 2025, announced a state probe into Fauci, stating it was “past time we get the truth of what happened during COVID.” That announcement came alongside a Senate hearing where Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment in response to every question, and after Sen. Rand Paul released Fauci’s personal journal, revealing an apparent focus on protecting his own image and reputation during the pandemic.
According to Uthmeier’s office, diary entries show Fauci received a $900,000 prize from the Dan David Foundation and a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases research grant benefiting the University of Florida Scripps Biomedical Research program. The office also said Fauci was offered named professorships, book deals, board positions, and partnerships with private foundations connected to his federal role, opportunities that carried direct implications for the state of Florida.
Scripture repeatedly calls for honesty and integrity from those in positions of authority, particularly when their decisions affect the wellbeing of others. Proverbs 11:3 reminds us that “the integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.” If a public official used his influence over pandemic policy to enrich himself while millions of Americans made major life decisions based on his guidance, that represents a profound breach of trust. Christians are called to value truth and accountability, especially from those entrusted with public health and safety. Uncovering the full truth about the pandemic response is about restoring integrity to institutions that failed the people they were meant to serve.
