Texas to Open Nation’s First Detransition Clinic
Texas Children’s Hospital is preparing to open what is expected to be the nation’s first detransition clinic, offering restorative medical care to patients who regret undergoing gender-transition procedures. The initiative follows settlements with state and federal authorities that require major hospitals to end pediatric gender-transition services while providing care for those seeking to reverse their transitions.

From The Epoch Times:
In May and June, the Department of Justice (DOJ), along with the attorneys general of Texas and Ohio, secured settlements with large hospitals over allegations of fraudulent insurance billing practices related to “gender-affirming care” for children.
The hospitals denied wrongdoing in their billing practices or standards of care.
These agreements require the hospitals not only to cease transitioning procedures, but also to offer discounted or free restorative medical care to detransitioners.
According to the settlement agreement, Texas Children’s Hospital will establish a multidisciplinary clinic offering services such as endocrinology, surgery, fertility counseling, psychiatry, psychotherapy, and speech pathology for detransitioners. The hospital has not announced an opening date, but it has agreed to provide these services at no cost for five years to eligible patients and to create a dedicated webpage outlining the available care.
Attorneys representing detransitioners have welcomed the agreement, arguing that many patients require lifelong medical and psychological care after undergoing irreversible procedures at a young age. Chloe Cole, one of the nation’s best-known detransitioners, said the new clinic addresses a longstanding gap in healthcare, while attorney Mark Trammell called it a recognition that detransitioners “are real” and deserve specialized care.
Texas is not alone in pursuing this approach. A similar settlement with the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio requires the hospital to provide restorative care for detransitioners, prohibits gender-transition procedures for minors for the next 20 years, and establishes financial assistance for patients seeking restorative treatment. These agreements are part of a broader Justice Department investigation into pediatric hospitals’ billing practices and compliance with federal and state law.
The opening of the nation’s first detransition clinic marks a significant shift in the national conversation surrounding pediatric gender medicine. As more individuals share stories of regret and seek restorative care, let’s pray for truth, compassion, and healing for those affected, as well as wisdom for medical professionals and policymakers entrusted with protecting children.
