Synonyms for lie include trick, misrepresent, delude, mislead, fabricate, and distort. All of these words and more could be used to describe the lies of the Left this week. From the State of the Union Address, to blatant hypocrisy in New York City, it’s all meant to confuse and deceive. This is why knowing and sharing the truth is more important than ever.

Clueless College Students Criticize State of the Union Before it Happens

The first lie told by the Left this week revolves around President Trump’s State of the Union Address, which happened the evening of February 24, 2026. College students were asked to “rate Trump’s State of the Union speech one out of ten–one being the worst, ten is the best.” There’s one catch, however. The students were asked the question a day BEFORE the State of the Union Address happened.

 Brecca Stoll of the Daily Wire asked a variety of students at George Washington University to rate the SOTU speech, but she didn’t tell them the speech hadn’t happened yet. The reporter was curious about the kinds of responses she might get. Their answers, however, showed just how clueless they were about one of the biggest political events of the year.

One student responded to the question with, “Negatives.” When asked why she answered that way, she remarked, “I think we all know– a lot of reasons.” Apparently, she didn’t get the memo that President Trump hadn’t made his speech yet.

When another student was asked the same question about rating President Trump’s SOTU speech, he said, “It was like a one or a two– I mean it was all over the place.” Still another student insisted, “Gonna give it a one,” explaining, “Um, I don’t think he’s very articulate.”

One young man got creative and answered the question with a number that wasn’t even on the scale. “Zero,” he confidently stated. One girl appeared to contemplate the question, but said, “I’d just go with a zero overall.”

A few others looked puzzled when asked the question, but declared, “They didn’t watch it,” with one remarking, “Like I didn’t really watch it much. I watched for a little, but turned it off.” Certainly, it’s very bizarre when one admits to not watching, or watching just a little of something that hasn’t happened yet.

Were these students living in a time warp? Or, did they believe they could predict the future? Perhaps the Left lives in an alternative reality or dimension. Actually, this fabrication phenomenon is not a mystery to those who realize that confusion and deception is all too common in the liberal world. We can only pray that these college students would get a real education.

LaGrand’s Gun Ideas are not Grand

The next lie told by the Left this week comes from Democratic Mayor David LaGrand of Grand Rapids, Michigan. He seems to think that gun owners in the United States of America should be ashamed of owning a gun.

During a “Mayor Monday” forum, LaGrand stated, “Nobody gardens with a gun, right? Nobody changes their tire with a gun. What they’re for is killing human beings and so it’s really hard. I think as a community we have to start having some shaming around gun possession.” The outraged mayor left no room to misunderstand his words. “I think if you’ve got a gun, you should be ashamed of yourself. I really do.”

 LaGrand boldly remarked, “Now, I’m sorry, that’s gonna be the soundbite of the night, and the NRA, the NRA is gonna be mad at me, but like, you know, I, I get that we got a Second Amendment, I get it. But, you know, you also should be ashamed of yourself if you smoke. That’s not against the law. I think if you own a gun, you should be ashamed of yourself, and you should really do some self-reflection. And I think that’s, I, I just see so much more harm just like cigarettes. I see so much harm, more harm done than benefit.”

 LaGrand also weighed in on the use of police dogs. “It is time that we ask, what are dogs good for? Like if you need a dog to find someone in the woods, go get a hound dog. If you need to chase somebody in the backyard, why couldn’t you do that with a drone? If my dog did what I saw in that video, I’d put my dog down.”

LaGrand’s comments at the forum were in response to the recent shooting of Da’Quain Johnson. The thirty-two-year-old was pursued by a K-9, and then shot and killed by a police officer on February 18. An investigation is open, but police contend that Johnson was armed and allegedly pointed the barrel of his pistol at an officer’s face.

The idea that all gun owners should be ashamed is not an appropriate response, regardless of what happened in this particular incident. The framers of the Constitution knew that a variety of circumstances could threaten the right to bear arms. This is why they went out of their way to make sure this right was protected through the Second Amendment.

In the end, guns are not the problem. It’s people who kill people. Citizens of the United States of America have the right to own a gun without being ashamed. Sin is the overarching issue that must be dealt with when it comes to crime, mass shootings, violence, and lawlessness. This can only be rectified through the shed blood of Jesus Christ who died on the cross. We must continue to pray that our nation would experience both repentance and revival.

A Real Snow Job

The third lie told by the Left this week comes from Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani. Though the leftist mayor of New York City opposes requiring IDs to vote in elections, he has no problem asking citizens to show “no less than five forms of identification in order to shovel snow.”

The New York Post writes, “The New York City Sanitation Department website says that in order to register as an emergency snow shoveler, an applicant must provide two small photos sized 1-1.5 square inches, two original forms of ID plus copies, and their social security card.”

With all the frigid weather lately, Mamdani felt the need to ask New Yorkers to become “emergency snow shovelers.” Each one could earn up to $19.14 an hour and as much as $28.71 an hour after the first 40 hours worked in a week, according to the sanitation department’s website.

Social media is in an uproar as users called out the blatant hypocrisy. One user wrote, “Mamdani’s snow shovelers must be ‘eligible to work in the United States,’ accompanied by a gif of Greta Thunberg saying, ‘How dare you.’”

The Democratic Socialist website states, “Our candidates for office stand firm against racist voter ID laws and secret poll taxes like the SAVE America Act.” Thus, for politicians like Mamdani, it’s racist to support voter ID laws, but it’s not racist to require multiple forms of ID to work as a snow shoveler in New York City.

A spokesperson for Mamdani told the New York Post, “As with any employer, the City of New York has a legal obligation under federal law to verify work authorization and maintain proper documentation before issuing payment. We are not legally permitted to hand out checks without completing that process.”

Sorry Mamdani. Americans aren’t buying this “snow job.” They weren’t born yesterday. They also know that the only way to secure the rights of all Americans is through a verifiable election system that eliminates fraud. There aren’t enough snow shovelers in New York City to clean up the mess that leaders like Mamdani are making. We must continue to pray that those who voted for Mamdani will wake up and realize that Democratic Socialism isn’t the answer.
