Recently, an illegal immigrant caused a semi-truck crash in California, killing three people. However, Jashanpreet Singh, the migrant in question, was reportedly released into the nation under President Biden’s administration in 2022.

According to federal sources, the suspect, identified as Jashanpreet Singh, was first encountered by Border Patrol agents in California‘s El Centro Sector in March 2022 and released into the interior of the country pending an immigration hearing.

Singh has now been arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated after plowing his big rig into slow-moving traffic on the I-10 Freeway in San Bernardino County.

The crash, caught on dashcam video, left at least three people dead and several injured.

Singh was reportedly released under the Biden administration’s “alternatives to detention” policy. Fox notes that he is only one of several migrants released under this policy that went on to commit a crime.

This incident is also very similar to a crash that took place in August. Harjinder Singh, a migrant who illegally crossed the border in 2018, was accused of causing a crash in Florida that took the lives of three people.

As crashes like these become more and more common, the Trump administration is taking action. Fox notes that Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy issued a statement last week highlighting the inability of many big rig drivers to pass English language requirements. Additionally, the administration also threatened to withhold federal funding from California over its failure “to comply with federal English language proficiency standards for truck drivers,” according to Fox.
