President Trump’s Department of Justice is reportedly considering restricting the ability of transgender individuals to purchase firearms.

Who is praying on the wall?

From Fox News:

Department of Justice officials have had several internal meetings about putting limitations on transgender people’s ability to purchase firearms, Fox News Digital has learned.

One source pointed to a “pattern” of shootings carried out by transgender people, including the recent tragedy at a Catholic Church in Minnesota. Robin Westman, who was named Robert through 2019, killed two children and injured more than a dozen others before dying by suicide. Westman’s firearms were purchased legally, according to the Associated Press.

Another source said the DOJ’s discussions about banning transgender people from buying or owning guns have involved the Office of Legal Counsel, which provides legal advice to the executive branch. The source indicated that the DOJ officials are currently thinking through a feasible legal framework. Such discussions would likely rope in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), which is part of the DOJ and has authority over federal rules related to firearms.

When questioned by Fox News, a DOJ spokesperson reportedly downplayed the discussed plans and strategies. The spokesperson simply said the DOJ is “actively evaluating options to prevent the pattern of violence we have seen from individuals with specific mental health challenges,” highlighting that “no specific criminal justice proposals have been advanced at this time.”

This move follows a recent shooting in Minneapolis, in which a transgender female (biological male) opened fire on a Catholic school, killing two children. Additionally, a transgender male (biological female) opened fire on a Christian school in Tennessee in 2023. In both cases, the shooters wrote about their deteriorating mental health, their struggles with their trans identities, and their hatred of Christians.

This move has received praise from some on the right, but many Second Amendment advocates have voiced their displeasure and disappointment. Fox mentions the Firearms Policy Coalition, a group dedicated to defending the amendment, which has vowed to sue the Trump administration is the DOJ goes through with this plan.

The second amendment is one of the most important amendments in the Constitution, but transgender individuals have also demonstrated a propensity for instability and violence. As our leaders attempt to find the best way to keep us safe, let’s pray for wisdom for those in positions of authority and power!

Oh God by your loving grace and mercy, show the many so troubled by this cry for help the right actions to take in solving the difficult issues of troubled souls and not wave another unusable law of “feel good” legislation that solves nothing be done in positive actions place.
