Trump Changes DOD to ‘Department of War’
Yesterday, President Trump signed an executive order to rename the Department of Defense to the Department of War, a move designed to project strength and honor America’s history.
Pray for your fellow intercessor.
From AP News:
President Donald Trump signed an executive order Friday aiming to rebrand the Department of Defense as the Department of War — a long-telegraphed move aimed at projecting American military toughness around the globe.
“It’s a much more appropriate name, especially in light of where the world is right now,” Trump said. He said the previous name was “woke.”
The order comes as some of Trump’s closest supporters on Capitol Hill proposed legislation that would codify the new name into law, with Congress having the sole power to establish, shutter and rename federal departments. Absent a change in law, Trump will authorize the Pentagon to use secondary titles.
In addition to projecting strength in an increasingly chaotic world, this renaming also honors the history of the department. Florida Representative Greg Steube highlighted in a statement that the department was initially called the Department of War, retaining that name until the end of World War II,
AP also notes that this order is not entirely official and could be easily undone later, as President Trump does not have the authority to rename departments. However, Senators Rick Scott and Mike Lee are reportedly introducing companion legislation designed to make the name change permanent.
Since Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth took office, he and President Trump have worked overtime to strengthen the military and restore lethality. This name change is only the latest in a long list of actions. Secretary Hegseth confirmed as much speaking alongside the President, reminding Americans that the United States hasn’t won a major war since the change. “We’re going to go on offense, not just on defense,” he said.
This new name change represents the beginning of a new era in our nation’s armed forces. Let’s ask God to continue to bless and strengthen our military!

Yaweh Sabaoth, will we recognize YOU when YOU return?
Heavenly Father, Defender, Our Shield, help us to have eyes to see and ears to hear! The earth is trembling as we near Your return. Please help us not to look for a meek shepherd and miss you.
Your ways are not our ways! They’re higher and altogether perfect!
Help us to reflect the agenda of Heaven against Your enemies on earth 🌎!
Hallelujah!
Sadly, renaming the Defense Department is meaningless. According to Air Force four-star Gen. Mark Kelly, “We’re facing an apex adversary now, today.” However, the Air Force is “doing so with half the combat power that we had 35 to 40 years ago.” The fleet, Gen. Kelly added, is “twice as old and operating at twice the op [operational] tempo, flown by aviators getting half the training sorties, at half the platform readiness rates.”
We have missed opportunity after opportunity under different presidents, including Trump, to turn this around. We even had an opportunity to sightly improve our readiness at the beginning of this term. The U.S. spent 16.9% of its economy on defense in 1952 during the Korean War and more than 8% during Vietnam, the budget Trump passed allows for only 3%. I mentioned it on this site BEFORE it was passed. That and his appointment of a journalist to lead Defense has caused us to loose that small chance to improve the situation.
Thus far, a decision has been made to send men and women for four years of ‘training’ for ship building. to other countries. The Chinese have said they intend to move on Taiwan in little more than a year. For the skills necessary to build complicated ships, you need experience, lots of experience. It seems to me that some of that effort should go into recruiting experience to come here and for expanding our own ship building capability. We need good leadership!
God have mercy on us!
Huntington Ingalls Industries is our largest ship building company in America. They have been awarded contracts for software development for TRAINING this year, if that gives you some idea of how little progress we have made.
Some believe that we can make one bad decision after another, year upon year, and God is going to step in and help us avoid the consequences for our bad decisions.
I have been posting a warning on this site for perhaps two years now?
“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.” (Psalm 20:7)
One nation under God? I wonder. We have misplaced faith.
WE are praising men and weapons, not God.
Forgive US Father. In the Mighty Name of Jesus. Amen.
Jesus our Christ is also called The Prince of Peace. He commands us NOT to war against flesh & blood (people) but against the devil / satan & the demons / angels (messengers) that are spiritual “powers of evil” (Rev 12).
When the Jewish (“descendants of Abraham”) church leaders (accompanied by Roman soldiers) came to arrest (& kill) Jesus; His true followers said “Lord, shall we strike with a sword? (implement the Department of War?) And one of them (Peter) struck the servant of the high priest (chief Jewish church leader) & cut off his right ear”
“But Jesus answered & said (His teaching regarding the Department of War): Permit even this & He (God on earth) touched the ear & healed him” Luke 22: 49-51
To quote another: ‘ War is without question, the negation of all Christ taught and meant, and yet, as is bitter irony, there are professedly Christian men who defend it as their forefathers defended slavery. ‘ Is it no wonder that the church has lost moral leadership.
An examination of Ephesians 6 shows clearly that the Christian armour is for defense – not attack.
The Department of Defense is more appropriate.
Father, we thank You that the President, Secretary of Defense & Congressional leaders have the courage to publicly declare the United States is no longer “on the defense”, but is now officially ON THE OFFENSE against all enemies of our nation & You! We stand in agreement with them & Your Word – that no weapon formed against the United States of America shall prosper – because we ARE ONE NATION UNDER THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!!!! Amen!
