A week after his Alaskan summit with President Putin, President Trump threatened to impose severe sanctions on Russia if it does not make progress toward peace in Ukraine.

U.S. President Donald Trump renewed a threat to impose sanctions on Russia on Friday if there is no progress toward a peaceful settlement in Ukraine in two weeks, showing frustration at Moscow a week after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

“I’m going to make a decision as to what we do and it’s going to be, it’s going to be a very important decision, and that’s whether or not it’s massive sanctions or massive tariffs or both, or we do nothing and say it’s your fight,” Trump said.

He was unhappy about Russia’s deadly strike on a factory in Ukraine this week, he said.

Recently, President Trump has been working hard to bring peace to Eastern Europe. And, although he seemed to have some initial success in swaying Putin, the Russian President is now doubling down. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday that Russia is stalling, preventing him from meeting with Putin.

This threat is the latest way President Trump seems to be forcing the creation of a peace deal. Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sregei Larov said that Putin cannot meet with Zelensky yet, and no one has created an agenda for another summit.

As President Trump works to bring peace in Europe, let’s go to God in prayer. Let’s pray for him to have wisdom, for him to be successful, and for an end to the conflict in Ukraine!
