In the most recent update to the Trump administration’s D.C. crackdown, the President celebrated his administration’s progress, threatened a “total Federal takeover,” and accused Mayor Muriel Bowser of lying about crime statistics.

From Fox News:

In an early Friday morning post on Truth Social, the president declared, “Washington, D.C. is SAFE AGAIN! The crowds are coming back, the spirit is high, and our D.C. National Guard and Police are doing a fantastic job. They are out in force, and are NOT PLAYING GAMES!!! As bad as it sounds to say, there were no murders this week for the first time in memory.

“Mayor Muriel Bowser must immediately stop giving false and highly inaccurate crime figures, or bad things will happen, including a complete and total Federal takeover of the City! Washington D.C. will soon be great again!!!” he added.

Last week [President Trump] issued an order directing the mayor “provide the services of the Metropolitan Police force for Federal purposes” and issued a memorandum directing the Defense Secretary “to mobilize the District of Columbia National Guard and order members to active service” to tackle the city’s crime problem.

This comes as the Trump administration has been cracking down on crime in the nation’s capital. On August 11, the President announced he was moving the D.C. Police Department under the control of the Justice Department. He also sent National Guard troops and federal agents into Washington, which he claimed had a murder rate “higher than that of Bogota, Colombia, Mexico City, some of the places that you hear about as being the worst places on earth.”

Although President Trump did not highlight which crime figures he disagreed with, Mayor Bowser has sharply opposed his claims for weeks now. On August 12, the day after the President’s initial federal takeover announcement, she posted to X that violent crime in her city is “at its lowest level in 30 years.” At the time of writing, this post was pinned at the top of the Mayor’s X account.

Although the President is threatening further action, he also touted great success in his Truth Social post. Let’s thank God for the progress the federal government has already made, and let’s pray that D.C.’s officials would work with the Trump administration to make our capital safe and clean!

Thank God for what President Trump is doing for DC. I live in DC and petty crimes like fare evasion and shoplifting are rampant here, much more so these recent years. Please pray against those who are opposing President Trump’s efforts with protests and other evil plans. May their evil plans be thwarted by God.
