Flood Hits Christian Camp in Texas
On Independence Day, a devastating flood hit an all-girls Christian camp in Texas. 69 deaths have been confirmed, but some are predicting a final number of more than 100.
Who is praying on the wall?
From Daily Mail:
Texas‘s Division of Emergency Management predicted the number of dead as a result of catastrophic flooding in Kerrville on July 4 would top 100, Daily Mail can exclusively reveal.
In an email sent out Saturday, the state disaster office told partners the number of dead would surpass 100, two different sources confirmed to Daily Mail.
The estimate of the dead is vastly different than the message state officials are projecting publicly, insisting that they are still searching for people who are alive, and refusing to say rescue efforts have shifted to recovery of remains.
The flood hit Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian camp. Mystic hosted 700 campers, some of whom perished in the disaster. Daily Mail reported that, as of Sunday morning, 69 had been confirmed dead, 46 of whom were adults and 21 of whom were children. 11 girls and one counselor were also reportedly missing.
As rescue operations continue, it’s important for us to pray. If you’d like to pray for Texas at this critical time, you can download our “Prayer Guide for Times of Crisis” for specific prayer points and scriptures. You can also visit IFA’s state page for Texas to post your prayers and encourage Texas residents.
This floods may have caused devastation, but we worship a God who is greater than any flood. Let’s pray for Him to heal the injured, to comfort the brokenhearted, and to draw all in Texas closer to Him.

Father as I am reading prayers. I ask You to bind the enemy from the families of the lost, rebuke the enemy and hold him back from making this worse than it already is. Of course loose mighty angels, to comfort. In Jesus name amen.
Father I lift up the rescuers right now. They are seeing things noone should see. Hold them as they recover the dead, and long after. If they know you or not send ministering angels now and every day.
Father, You have promised to cause new life to spring forth, even from the barren recesses of hopeless hearts. Because of Your tender mercies, we declare over our hurting brothers and sisters that their lives will one day flourish again. Even though they may walk through death’s valley, they will remain anchored to the God of Hope, who will sustain them through the pain and restore their hurting hearts. All of this we pray in the name of our Savior and Healer, Jesus. Amen.
Father, thank you for providing comfort and healing to all the families and friends who are suffering from the loss of a loved one(s). May all the emergency responders and volunteers be sustained by Your wisdom, strength, and endurance as they continue to work tirelessly in their rescue search efforts. I pray that knowing how much their neighbors, friends and nation cares will in some way be a healing balm to enable them to face a new day. Prayerfully, Jan
Abba, because I lost my brother, Lynn, who was only 11 months older than I, to an accident when I was 6, I want to pray specifically for siblings of the victims. That loss almost turned me against the only One Who could bring healing and comfort – You. It devastated me. Because my parents were also devastated, and my other 2 older brothers were dealing with their own grief – I felt so all alone. The enemy made sure that well-meaning attempts to comfort me backfired. Someone told me that God needed another little angel in heaven – bad theology, but also inferring that my feelings about it didn’t matter. Etched on his gravestone was a Scripture verse that comforted my Dad, but left me cold – “The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away.” – giving You credit for killing my brother. Thank You for intervening and giving me a vision as a teenager to set the record straight – You cried with me and You were not distant. And thank You for speaking clearly to me about why my brother died – he stepped out in front of a car that could not stop in time. It didn’t settle all the questions, but it did allow me to see You as the One who loved me supremely, even more than Lynn, and the One I could trust because as Hebrews 4:15-16 says ” . . . we do not have a High Priest unable to empathize with our weaknesses; . . . (and we can) confidently approach the throne from which God gives grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace in our time of need.” I finally found that mercy and grace, and that is what I pray for the young siblings of the victims – may they know Your comforting presence and cuddle up in Your arms. I pray also for all family members and friends. We ask that all victims are found, and that You would minister to first responders who are dealing with this trauma. May we as the ekklesia respond rightly to what You have allowed – thus allowing You to bring good out of what the enemy meant for evil. May nothing be allowed to separate us from Your love – Romans 8! May all impacted by the tragedy run to You, and not away.
Very insightful testimony, Mary Beth; bless you!
Praying with you and others here in agreement, in Jesus’ Precious Name; amen!
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” ~ Psalm 34:18
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” ~ Psalm 147:3
My theology is the Lord recieves those who pass beyond our sight. But am aching physically about this as well. God help us!!!
Thank you for your heartfelt testimony, Mary! Your prayers for siblings and family members are powerful, as you have lived this trauma yourself! May these families indeed feel the Father’s arms around them holding them close, knowing that His heart breaks with theirs, For “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” – Ps. 34:18
Mary Beth, you are so right about what you learned through your experiences with the Lord. Thank you for sharing.
The wrong idea about his sovereignty results in many hurting people blaming Him, then unable to turn to Him.
The balanced teaching below helped me get through a cancer diagnosis 10 years ago.
For anyone, struggling with the question of why he allowed the floods, this teaching will help you.

Father God hear the cry’s of the hurting and comfort them. As they struggle in their minds give them peace. Send the Holy Ghost to comfort in Christian hand and feet. Kiss them and hold them in your arms oh God. May they all call on Jesus and be saved if they are not. In Jesus Name Amen
Lord, our faith and hope is in you. Only You can lead us through this difficult/ unmanageable time. Even now Lord You are the answer, You are the strength. Be with us and guide us, especially those involved in this calamity. May Your love and strength and wisdom guide us, not only the victims, but also the rescuers. Your will be done Lord Jesus!!
I join my prayers for all those affected by the flood. I grieve with those who are grieving. And I pray for those who are rescuing and meeting the needs of the survivors. In Jesus Name
The Apostle Paul reminded us that we don’t mourn as others do we do more. I continue to pray that not only for the families hearts be made more tender for Jesus Christ at this time in this tragedy to grow closer, but those to whom I am sending out information to pray with us that are not saved will ask what they must do to be saved.
I ask these in all things in the mighty and matchless name of Christ Jesus our Lord by the power of the Holy Spirit. Thank You Father; thank You Savior; thank You Holy Spirit.
Almighty God, our Father in heaven, please make Your loving presence and power be known by all those impacted by this devastating flood. May they experience in a personal way Your living hope and Your healing. We know it would not be easy but please hold them tight and bring them to a place of comfort, strength and peace. Holy Spirit, move mightily in the hearts of people affected. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen..

It is so sad that so many people were affected by this storm. The fact that this Christian girls camp experienced devastation, and that lives were lost, is conformation that everyone, Christian believers or not, get to share in the suffering of this life. I pray for the families of the people affected by this storm. Please pour out Holy Spirit upon them and comfort them. Thank you Jesus.
