Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth took action to reform the Department of Defense (DOD) on Wednesday, signing a trio of memos designed to cut wasteful spending and improve department efficiency.

Hegseth’s orders halt additional non-DoD IT or consulting contracts without prior review by Deputy Secretary of Defense Steve Feinberg, heavily restrict the use of executive assistants and streamline weapons testing and review at the Office of the Director of Operational Test and Evaluation (ODOT&E). The orders were issued in coordination with the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) work to eliminate waste across the entire federal government, with Hegseth claiming in an accompanying Wednesday X post that the Pentagon has already saved $10 billion total “in real savings” from cost-cutting initiatives.
“We’re committed to reducing bloated bureaucracy and wasteful spending in favor of increased lethality,” Hegseth said in the video posted to X. “That’s a trade off I will take every single day. Converting consultants into combat power, that’s what we’re doing here at the Defense Department.”
Hegseth ordered Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment Steven Morani to review current IT and consulting contracts at the Pentagon to identify wasteful or redundant contracts, according to the order’s text. IT contracts under $10 million and consulting services under $1 million will be exempt from the cuts, as well as contracts that deal with critical areas, such as engineering, weapon system programs and major defense acquisition programs, among others.

These changes are all a part of the Trump administration’s larger mission to reduce bloat and increase efficiency in the federal government. In addition, these order all play into Secretary Hegseth’s larger mission to restore “the warrior ethos” in America.
It is also important to remember that Secretary Hegseth has been under attack recently, perhaps more so than any other member of the administration barring the President himself. Changes like these, although they are good, will only give the Left more ammunition to attack him with.
Let’s pray for the federal government, the Department of Defense, and Secretary Hegseth himself. Let’s pray that the Secretary is able to stand firm and that the Enemy would not be able to touch him or the DOD!

I agree that the attacks against Hegseth are justified. It is unfortunate but conservative news sources have not reported everything concerned Hegseth’s missteps. An investigation has turned up as many as 12 Signal communications, not just two, where he shared sensitive or top secret information. For those who don’t understand why this is a problem, doing so puts our men at risk, especially when a mission is ongoing. None of the conservative news sources have also mentioned that he took his wife to several top level meetings with militaries of other countries. They have also not mentioned that his former Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff issued a joint statement about the Pentagon being in chaos. Hegseth has been reported to be forcing his staff to take lie detector tests in an attempt to stop leaks, not about top secret leaks, but leaks about his mistakes.
I think these points were mentioned in an earlier posting which seems to have disappeared?
Lord, thank you for Pete Hegseth. Please equip him for all he is to do, and lead and guide him. Help him to seek You daily and to hear You clearly, and to be obedient to You. Protect him and all his loved ones. Thank You, Lord!!! In Jesus’ name, amen.
He is doing his job to build back our American Military to be ready for action when needed. He is doing his best to cut waste. I pray the he uses godly wisdom in all his conversations on social media. My prayer is the voices against Sec. Pete be quieted. Instead of criticizing him we should be praying for him.
