‘Full-Blown War in Africa’?
‘Full-Blown War in Africa’?
As war continues in eastern Europe, some are watching Africa instead, concerned about destabilization and the growing power of China and Russia in the region.
From Newsweek. Former NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe James Stavridis warned on Sunday that the conflict in Niger amid a looming deadline for coup leaders to cede power could potentially lead to a “full-blown war in Africa.”

The Sunday deadline established by a coalition of West African nations for Niger to return to democratic rule is set to expire. The demand has been shunned by fellow military-led countries Burkina Faso and Mali, who have jointly warned that any intervention would amount to a declaration of war.
While conflict is far from guaranteed, the conditions for a major escalation are quickly brewing on a continent that has played host to some of the deadliest wars of the past century. Some believe that such a confrontation would have vast ramifications, not only for the people of the Sahel region, but far beyond, with the potential to draw in the likes of the United States, France and Russia among other invested powers. …
On Friday, defense chiefs from the West African nations finalized an intervention plan and urged militaries to ready resources after negotiations with Niger’s military junta stalled, the Associated Press reported. …
While speaking to The New York Times on Saturday via phone, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the Nigerian chief of defense staff, told the newspaper, “Democracy must be restored, through diplomacy or force.” …

This agitation puts Christians in the crosshairs. I can see the split exacerbating Muslim anger.
We must pray for our brothers and sisters in the Lord in West Africa. It is not easy to be a Christian there even in the best of times. Many Moslems are taught to hate the infidels ie non moslems. From what I have read it is a fight over the rich uranium deposits in Niger.
Father, we pray for Africa. I pray you would raise up many intercessors in Africa to pray for their continent. I pray for your peace and your glory to prevail there and war to not happen!
To Greenman21,
Your remarks are ignorant, racist and unacceptable.
There is as much “tribalism” and “jungle” in Europe between Russia and Ukraine as in Africa. There has been as much “jungle” and “tribalism” in the subjugation and enslavement of Africans by Europeans and Americans in days gone by.
My point is, the atrocities inflicted by nations at war is a condition of man’s sinful heart not his nationality.
It’s comments like yours that will cause unsaved people of color to reject Christ.
I am praying for you and anyone like you in this community to examine your heart and to exercise wisdom in how you express divisive beliefs.
I don’t understand why you feel their remarks are unacceptable. They say nothing more about Africa than what history has testified to. Yes, it is man’s sinful heart, not his nationality, but that doesn’t say war would be beneficial. I don’t see how this article would cause someone to reject Christ. And we know that the slavery that took people from Africa was done by the Africans’ hands in delivering their own people to the slave traders.
As a family who spent 5 years in Africa where the apartheid took place, we came to know so many who love God and want to see God’s hand bring freedom and revival. Lord we ask you to raise up intercessiors who will fight the battles in Africa on their knees and believe you to counteract the turmoil with a heavenly outpouring! Hear the cries of your people to bring about the change that is desperately needed in Jesus name
LORD GOD
Today we ask for the militants to return to peace in these war torn nations, where conflicts boil over into outright war. Please arrange it so that mercenaries go home.
Thank YOU FATHER
in JESUS BLESSED NAME, AMEN
As someone once remarked “You can take the African out of the Jungle, but you can never take the Jungle out of the African !” Not intended as a racist remark here, this is simply an observation of reality.
There are a whole multitude of reasons for the above to be true, but the primary reason is learning – education – and the willingness to learn from history. There are many different peoples in Africa but sadly they are not known for living alongside each other peaceably for any length of time. Tribalism remains mainly as a curse of peoples living on large continents south of the equator – fact not fiction.
I pray to Almighty God that this may change quickly before this Earth again becomes entwined in yet another massive conflict – Amen.

Lord, take down the demonic host that is feeding the division within the African continent. Bring unity and the Gospel to all the African nations and unite them in the Covenant bond of love in Christ. Stop the plundering of their resources and give Godly leaders who will work for the people’s good and to see divine purpose and destiny fulfilled.
