From The Washington Stand. In the wee morning hours of Saturday, January 7, the 434 members of the House of Representatives swore an oath to “bear true faith and allegiance” to the Constitution. After 15 votes, they had finally chosen a House speaker and could all take the oath of office. A short time earlier, seven of their number had acted out their true faith and allegiance to a different, higher governmental authority.

“We have a prayer caucus in the House,” explained Representative Mike Johnson (R-La.) on FRC’s “Pray Vote Stand” (PVS) webcast. “We gather for prayer, for example, the beginning of each week … and ask the Lord for his wisdom and discernment and guidance.”
As Friday dawned with the House no closer to choosing a Speaker, “we were in a real bind,” Johnson confessed. So, the prayer caucus gathered to pray in the House chamber “in the early morning before the session began. … We repented to the Lord for our individual transgressions, and those collectively as a legislative body, and as a people, as a nation. And we asked for his divine guidance.”
“I believe the Lord has answered the prayers of many because there was an outcome in which I believe the Congress is stronger,” remarked FRC President Tony Perkins, who hosted PVS. “Last Friday, as the future looked questionable — there was a lot of angst, a lot of tension — you and your colleagues gathered on the floor of the House to pray.”
Johnson agreed. “My specific prayer in that circle was, ‘Lord, the House is divided. We know that a house divided cannot stand. And we ask you to unite this House.’ And in short order, that’s what happened. And I tell you, this morning at the meeting with all the House Republicans, I think this group has never been more united than it is right now.” …
Perkins noted this prayer on the House floor was “in sharp contrast to the efforts we’ve seen in recent years to remove God from Congress.” Last spring, in response to Rep. Greg Steube (R-Fla.) quoting from the book of Deuteronomy, Representative Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) retorted, “What any religious tradition describes as God’s will is no concern of this Congress.”
“This is a spiritual battle,” Johnson added. “When people of faith have their voices censored and silenced routinely and increasingly, it’s a threat to the survival of the republic. I mean it; this is not hyperbole.” …

Researching to clarify a point: In 1892 a case was handled by the Supreme Court although the case dealt with legality of contracts for other foreign professionals, the court considered America’s Christian identity to be a strong support for its conclusion that Congress could not have intended to prohibit foreign ministers” . Justice David J Brewer penned the courts opinion. He stated that the United States was a “ Christian nation” This statement is included as part of the Dicta _ agratuitous statement.” “ The Court had already decided before on giving its opinion as to the religious character of the nation. Justice Brewer would clarify his position, that many of our traditions are rooted in Christianity. “ The Christian character and purpose of the United States of America can be found in its Constitution. “ Source- The Christian Life and Character—2007- I truly believe God heard the specific prayer that Johnson prayed, He called out to God stating using Gods words : “ We know that a house divided cannot stand. I am happy and blessed that this quoted statement was said” this prayer on the House floor was “in sharp contrast to the efforts we’ve seen in recent years to remove God from Congress.” I was praying also that night for Congress to feel Gods presence and the need for special prayer was essential. I took Authority over every spiritual attack and prayed Psalms: 91. I prayed for the Rinos that they would receive Gods gift of Salvation. No person can wish more ardently than I do that all of our public offices may be filled with Gods spirit and ( feel love) & fear God and see that wickedness is Satans tool of Hate. We declare our faith in the mercy and blood of Jesus – that God has heard the repentance offered up by millions of believers on behalf of America’s sins and is healing our land. We decree that their evil will be exposed, their funds will dry up, and their influence will end. We close the door to their control”) As a Christian I will not be silenced! May they humble themselves in the sight of a righteous God, repent from their wicked ways and hear from our Lord as He gives them wisdom

I am praying for repentance of sin and revival in our nation. Ezra 9:8-15, “8 And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage.
9 For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.

Because I didn’t know enough about the issues and the demands of the so-called “hard liners” among the Republican members of the House, I asked God how to pray about the vote for the new Speaker. The only thing that came to mind was to pray that the Speaker’s seat in Congress would be preserved and protected from all claimants for the one He wanted to sit there. I believe He answered that prayer!
Simply being made aware that this happened brings me SO much hope!
Thank you Lord for these who have the fear of you on their lives.
As they please you, would you cause even their enemies to be at peace with them and cause them to be seen with great favor even by those that would otherwise work against them.
Lord, would you give them your wisdom and discernment, and answers to perplexing problems. Bless their families and tiger health.
Oh father God, in the name of Jesus, we lift up every single member of Congress. Those in both houses. Jesus thank you for those who are wiling to stand up and fight for Godly principals… the ones this Nation was founded upon. God, I ask you to turn the hands of those who are believers but do not have GUTS enough to fight the liberal, ungodly narrative. Please have them fall on their knees before you, ask forgiveness and then give them HOLY SPIRIT boldness to fight for the Constitution and do theier part to turn this Country around, for without YOU dear Jesus, we are lost! Thank you Jesus in advance for your answers. We praise you now and look forward to what you are goint to do!!

Thank God Our Holy Father for praying men and ladies in our congress. I praise Jesus that there is unity in the 118th congress among the Republican setting a high standard for our country that they put Jesus first.

This is the most encouraging news I have heard in a very long time. I hope the Congress continues to seek God and put Him first. That is the only way our country will succeed. This is an answer to my twenty-plus years of prayer for a praying Congress since, during a business trip to Washington, D.C. in 1998, the Lord revealed to me through a vision accompanied by a word that He intended to make Congress a PRAYING CONGRESS. Naively, I believed at the time that it would be no big deal for our God, Who can do anything, to bring this into being right then. But little did I know the depths of corruption or the wicked roadblocks the enemy had installed within the corridors of power to keep that corruption in place. I now believe that–yes, our Great God can do anything–we are seeing the formation and emergence of that PRAYING CONGRESS due to years and tears of warfare waged daily by intercessors who kept on praying for Congress even when all seemed lost. Thanks to all intercessors who have championed in prayer for our nation and its true leaders–those appointed and anointed by the Lord Most High Whose ways are higher than ours. We are still a Christian Nation, a Covenant Nation, where OUR GOD REIGNS FROM SEA TO SHINING SEA!
My Prayer for our country is found in the Bible 2 Chronicles 7:14.
Father you are Almighty all-powerful you are above all thank you for all the work you continue to do is your Faithful Servants pray continuously thank you Jesus
I am not sure what people are thankful about in this article. In my mind the congressmen who stood against McCarthy were the ones fighting for our country. They were able to negotiate rules that would curb the unbridled power of the speaker of the house. Unity only works if those unified are righteous people who follow God. I thank God for those who stood against McCarthy and got very important changes accomplished. I am also thankful there is a contingent of Christians in our congress and pray it will grow to be a majority.
Heavenly Father, I join my prayer with the many prayers of others that have come up to you; asking you Lord to HEAL OUR LAND & ANOINT THIS CONGRESS to lead our nation as you would want them to. Our trust and hope is in YOU, & we all believe together that you, and you alone will cast the dividing boat in every issue the congress must vote on IN JESUS WONDERFUL & MATCHLESS NAME.

Dear Father God, thank You for drawing the House of Representatives into unity. I want more. I pray more perseverance and encouragement to bring us hope. I pray You will grant the entire House to be of the same mind to glorify You. And as they serve this nation, may it be in truth and justice. Because You are the God of hope, would You fill them and us with faith in our believing, so that our nation will abound in hope? I ask this in the Name of Jesus who is hope personified. Amen

May the LORD continue to lead HIS people for HIS GLORY by exponentially growing the numbers in Congress to come to HIM in this group regularly. We also PRAY for the LORD’S HOLY WILL, in bringing Pastors who hold to traditional Biblical teaching to come together by bringing all of those in the Nation who have humbly turned their own lives over to the LORD together to do the same in a GREAT SPIRITUAL REAWAKENING.
Thank You, Father, for every Child of God that You have inspired to pray for our nation and it’s leaders….both in divine strategic positions….and the hidden ones crying out from their secret places. Thank You, Father, that we have never been alone in our tears for this nation. For years I opened my home for prayer at 6:00 pm on Monday night to under gird those praying in Room 219 for the coming week (co-incidentally my address was 219). The secretary, Summer, sent us the agenda and we prayed for those who met and for the upcoming agenda. Our group disbanded when one member died, two moved away and I had an accident that put me out of commission for several months. I still pray fervently for those who are in our government and in 2010 I had the privilege of going to DC and prayer walked our government buildings with other believers from my area. We carried with us white rocks from our area that our prayer group had written scriptures on and we placed them in strategic places around the White House and other buildings. Just remembering right now I can feel Holy Spirit filling my heart for my country and those in authority. May this new Congress continue in prayer together to put right so much in our country that has gone wrong. May Holy Spirit bring true repentance to those who stand against God in voting for abortion, transgendering our children and so many other ills that have been made laws in this nation. I pray for reformation in ALL areas of government from the White House down to the newest Senator and Congressman, and once again One Nation Under God. Amen
Before the 15th vote, I fasted and prayed that Friday morning, knowing that other Christians around our precious country were praying too. Look what the Lord has done!

I praise Jesus that there are governmental leaders that are praying. May the Lord answer their righteous prayers and the Holy Spirit move in our government, communities, and families, for God’s glory.
I would like to confess and repent for not praying consistently for our leaders. We know through the written word that prayer is in direct obedience to our Lord and Saviour and changes much!
It’s about time that we put God’s blessing to our operation 🙏
