Among the agencies that will benefit are Forensic Sciences, Health, Housing and the Municipality of Ponce, reported Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González

Resident Commissioner Jenniffer González announced today, Sunday, the approval of $ 34,388,847 in federal funds that will be used to -among other things- strengthen the health services and the Toxicology and Controlled Substances areas of the Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF).

“Each of these items comes from agency or program budgets that we have analyzed and discussed in Congress. That is why I emphasize my willingness to promote these initiatives and defend the necessary allocations to agencies and programs with an impact in Puerto Rico, ”González said in writing.

Among the recipients of these funds – from the federal departments of Health (HHS), Justice (DOJ), the Treasury and Agriculture (USDA) – is the ICF, which has been allocated $ 635,846 under the Program for Improving the Capacity of DNA for Arrears Reduction (CEBR). With these funds, the agency plans to identify resources to significantly increase the laboratory’s capacity, thus reducing response time and the number of samples awaiting analysis… (Excerpts from El Nuevo Dia)
