The leadership of the United States Republican Party in Puerto Rico is betting on a Republican victory in the United States legislative elections convinced that having Resident Commissioner in Washington, Jenniffer González , in the majority, will represent an advance in the debates on the status and in access to programs such as Medicaid.

The Puerto Rican Democratic leadership says, however, that the evidence is contrary to the expectations of the Puerto Rican Republicans, even when they do not doubt the dedication of González, the main face of the Grand Old Party (GOP) on the Island.

“For us, the first element (of a Republican victory) is that it allows Jenniffer to be in the parliamentary majority,” said former representative Ángel Cintrón, who replaced the commissioner in the GOP presidency in Puerto Rico.

Cintrón maintained that on issues such as Medicaid and status, “Jenniffer can move those processes with more force.” González was in majority from 2017 to 2018…. (Excerpt from El Nuevo Dia)
