Texas Lawmakers Get Down to Business, Seek to Ban ‘Gender Identity’ Instruction in K-8

A Texas legislators has filed a bill to ban instruction on sexual orientation and “gender identity” in grades K-8 in government schools.

Among other things, the bill also gives parents the right to information related to their children’s mental, emotional, and physical health, so that government school teachers, counselors, etc., can’t hide whether their children believe they’re “transgender.” If the bill becomes law, school staff will be required to disclose these matters to parents. The lawmaker who filed the bill, State Representative Jared Patterson, said in a statement that the measure would “restrict all classroom lessons and discussions on the issue of an individual’s sexual preference or gender identity until high school, thereby protecting the youngest and most vulnerable children from unscientific, inaccurate, and inappropriate information.”..
