Justice Samuel Alito Gets Standing Ovation at Conservative Event for Overturning Roe

Justice Samuel Alito received a standing ovation at a conservative legal event authoring the decision that overturned Roe v. Wade and allowed states to protect babies from abortions.
A Reuters report described it as the “loudest applause at the event.”
As Yahoo News reported, “The hundreds of lawyers and law students in attendance gave Alito another standing ovation when a speaker onstage, Stephen Markman, a former Michigan Supreme Court justice, praised his opinion in the June ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that had protected abortion rights.”
“I do not know of any decision on any court by any judge of which that judge could be more proud,” Marmkan said.
During his address to the group, Alito said its work is sorely needed because courts at all levels need more jurists who stick to the Constitution.
“And boy, is your work needed today,” he said.

Three other conservative justices — Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett — also attended. Barrett made brief remarks praising the society, saying she had “benefited immensely” from her association with it, and she got her own standing ovation when she took the stage.
