Judge Sets Hearing Over New York City Covid-19 Vaccine Mandate for Public Workers

A New York state judge set a hearing for next week over New York City’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate for municipal workers.
New York Supreme Court Justice Frank Nervo on Tuesday set the Dec. 14 hearing to determine whether a temporary restraining order would be ordered for the requirement.
The hearing will come shortly after Mayor Bill de Blasio said the city would also require private-sector workers to be vaccinated by Dec. 27. That policy affects about 184,000 businesses.
New York City’s vaccine mandate for public employees, which was announced Oct. 20, remains in effect. The order ended a testing option for the city’s more than 160,000 municipal workers, including police officers, firefighters and sanitation workers, and required them to get their first Covid-19 shot by Oct. 29.
