Father, we ask You to protect the first amendment rights of Americans both in New Jersey and across the nation. Prayer should never be illegal, and we pray prayer would continue to be permitted outside of abortion clinics.

May John Thune have the courage to withstand political pressures and stand for righteousness. May he draw close to God, forsake his own understanding and walk in truth. Bless and protect his family and give him favor in his interactions with other politicians, lawmakers, and constituents.

Father, I don't pretend to understand Senator Thune's motivations for opposing the SAVE Act but, if his motivations are simply to go against the president, I pray that You would convict him of unprofessional attitudes. I pray that he would look on the SAVE Act fully on its own merits and oppose it only if there are overwhelming reasons, apart from the president's support, for rejecting it. You know, Father, that I have concerns about digital IDs that will be fostered by this act and privacy concerns. I trust You to provide fair elections some other way, if my concerns are valid. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

Father God In Jesus Holy Name I pray for this fine and upright person who stands for those he represents in the halls known as politics. Father I pray you raise him up in health, safety, and understanding. As you do for those he loves and who he serves. That he know the hope of his calling into service before this nation. That he not dispise the small beginnings as each seed in the bag creates its portion of the harvest in time. Give to him the wisdom as the men of Issachar that had understanding of the times and a knowing of what the nation ought to do. May your grace and mercy flow through his offices, and his circumspection, and just judgement be known throughout the land. Amen and Amen.
