Paul Tonko (D)

Father, please bless the life and service of Representative Tonko, who desires to follow the admonition of Your word in Micah 6:8 that describes what You require of men, To walk justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with his God. This verse has great meaning for me, and since he used this scripture in one of his descriptions, I feel that it must hold meaning for his life and work as well. Please continue to direct his path, and may he trust You with all his heart, not leaning to his own understanding, but seeking Your truth and wisdom in each area of his life. Thank you for his clear devotion for the veterans who have served our nation so honorably and selflessly. I pray that he will likewise support our active military ensuring that they have whatever is needed to protect and defend our nation. Open his eyes to see Your truth, Lord, and guide his hand according to Your word. Watch over him, I pray, in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Gracious Heavenly Father, may Rep. Tonko know that Your hand and Your sovereign purpose are keeping him and sustaining him in his divine commission. (Ps 38:12-15) Keep him, and those who serve him, safe from the enemy's snares and free from the accuser's traps. (Ps 141:9-10) By Your great hand, Lord, deal with those who oppose righteousness and justice so that all will know that You alone are sovereign and true. (Ps 64:6-9) I pray that you would open his heart to hear and respond to the Gospel Message if he does not know you. I pray the prayer of King Solomon in I Kings on our leader. "Give your servant an understanding mind to govern your people, so that he may discern between good and evil." Pour out Your Spirit upon him. Shower him with your goodness and put a hedge of protection about him and his family. Protect him from the influence of the evil one and teach him to trust in you. Reveal to him by Your Spirit the marvelous truth of the Gospel. Give him discretion, foresight, and understanding in making decisions. Grant him a heart of compassion toward those he leads and serves. Help him, like Jesus to love righteousness and hate lawlessness. Please help him to have the courage to do the right thing even when urged to do the wrong thing. In the Name above all names Jesus our Messiah. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I concur and agree with these words and prayer of Gary G, I am deeply concerned about the direction that our beloved country is going, and I pray for your working in and around the lives of our Congresspersons and "leaders" of government. Father God, again this is a person I do not know how to pray for; I do not know this man or his heart and soul condition, but PTL You do. I commit Representative Paul Tonko to the working of Your Holy Spirit, for the outcome of his eternal soul and his life, that he might be redeemed and that he might make a positive impact on other lives he encounters. Lord, draw him unto yourself and Your purpose for his life. May he Open his heart, his mind to a real and true relationship with Jesus. Oh Lord, In the Name and by the power of Jesus Christ and the Spirit he gives us, we pray for this man that You would do a work in his life, in his heart that he might see Your Will and discern your direction for his life and his purpose and mission in Government. May he open his heart and mind to see You and Your guidance and not be prey to the whims and weaknesses of society, of harmful, misdirected ideologies and evil influences. Thank you O' God for hearing our pleas and for Your blessing over America; do not withdraw it, but sweep the nation with Your Spirit

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the opportunity and privilege of adding my voice to the spirit filled prayers that are being lifted by Your prayer warriors on behalf of Paul Tonko. We pray that he cries out to You for mercy and salvation. Only You, Heavenly Father, knows where his heart stands. If Paul Tonko refuses to be saved and to honor You and walk in righteousness and justice, we pray that his days in office will be few (Deuteronomy 16:18-20; Proverbs 8:20) and that another, who is a spirit filled believer in Christ be elected to take his place (Psalm 109:8), according to Your will and Your plans for the state of New York and for America.
