Does America have a role in Israel’s election? We do.

We’ve heard much about Russia collusion and foreign intervention in our elections. While it is clear that President Trump wasn’t the one colluding with Russia, the truth is countries have always tried to intervene in the affairs and elections of other countries both to help or to hinder.

As the election for prime minister approaches in Israel on Tuesday, Sept. 17, what is our role? As I prayed the Lord took me to Ezekiel 36. We are to prophesy to the mountains of Israel.

Tuesday’s election for Israel’s prime minister shouldn’t even be taking place. The Israeli people already voted in April and Benjamin Netanyahu won. However, the same forces we have seen rise up against President Trump to hinder and remove him from office have also been at work to remove Prime Minister Netanyahu and steal this election.

After the election of a prime minister, the next step is for the winner to form a coalition government (which requires a 61-seat majority) before they take office. During the campaign leading up to the first election, opposition released accusations and slander and then worked from the inside to get leader after leader to refuse to work with him. This has continued until now. Netanyahu was unable to form a government and the result is this new election.

Polls show a very tight race between Netanyahu and his liberal rival, former Gen. Benny Gantz.

Before this election, Netanyahu and his conservative Likud Party fought to pass a bill in Parliament that would allow cameras in voting places to prevent voter fraud. The bill did not pass as opponents argued that the bill was intended to “intimidate Arab voters.”

While we cannot vote in Israel’s election, we can make a difference. We can pray. We can prophesy to the mountain of Israel to remove the obstacles that have been erected seeking to change the outcome of April’s election and remove Prime Minister Netanyahu. And if Netanyahu wins again, he will still need to put together a coalition government, as Israeli law requires.

Pray earnestly. Pray as if it were our country and our election in the balance. Part of the prophetic destiny of America is to be a protector of Israel. That is part of our role. Do we have a role in Israel’s election on Tuesday? I say we do.

Our role is to:

1. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. May peace be within your walls, And prosperity within your palaces.” For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, “May peace be within you.” For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good. (Ps 122:6-9)

2. Prophesy to the mountains that the nations around Israel who desire to see their demise will be the ones to suffer scorn, but that Israel will prosper.

“Therefore prophesy concerning the land of Israel and say to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I speak in my jealous wrath because you have suffered the scorn of the nations. Therefore, this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I swear with uplifted hand that the nations around you will also suffer scorn.

‘But you, mountains of Israel, will produce branches and fruit for my people Israel, for they will soon come home. I am concerned for you and will look on you with favor; you will be plowed and sown, and I will cause many people to live on you—yes, all of Israel. The towns will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt. I will increase the number of people and animals living on you, and they will be fruitful and become numerous. I will settle people on you as in the past and will make you prosper more than before. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”(Ez 36:6-11)

3. That the Lord will be exalted in the outcome of this election.

“Therefore say to the Israelites, ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: It is not for your sake, people of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone. I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the Lord, declares the Sovereign Lord, when I am proved holy through you before their eyes. (Ez 36:22-23)
