I Prayed have prayed
This world is full of injustice, Lord. What have we become? We desperately need You. We ask that you comfort the family of Mr. Arbery and bring justice to those that are deserving.
Reading Time: 3 minutes

I have watched repeatedly the videos where Travis McMichael and his father Gregory McMichael hunted down and killed Ahmaud Arbery, a black man, in a Glynn County, GA, neighborhood on February 23. Thursday—45 days after this horrible act–the Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested and charged them with felony murder and aggravated assault—but only after a video surfaced in the public that confirmed in graphic detail this brutal killing. On April 2, after accusations by Arbery’s mother of bias and nepotism within the District Attorney’s office and the police department, Waycross District Attorney George Barnhill recused himself–But not before he wrote extensively that there were no grounds for any arrest.

The police report states that the McMichael’s tried to stop Arbery for questioning upon suspicion of robbing a home construction site. Arbery reversed direction and continued jogging. The McMichael’s pulled beside Arbery and “shouted ‘stop, stop, we want to talk to you’.” Then they pulled past Arbery, stopped the truck and Travis McMichael got out of the truck armed with a shotgun. Gregory McMichael was in the back of the truck bed armed with a .357 Magnum handgun. A struggle ensued when Arbery “began to violently attack Travis.” The police report never concludes whether Arbery was armed. He was not. The video shows when Arbery ran past the right side of the stopped truck, the truck blocks the view of what happened next, then the two men emerge around the left side of the truck struggling with the shotgun.

District Attorney Barnhill’s memo says that the McMichael’s and “Bryan William” were following in ‘hot pursuit’ of a burglary suspect, with solid first hand probable cause,” continuing that “Under Georgia Law this is perfectly legal.” Barnhill then goes into a lengthy dissertation about how the “video made by William Bryan clearly shows the shooting in real time,” where Arbery attacked Travis McMichael and during the struggle over the shotgun, Arbery was shot three times, concluding that “at the point Arbery grabbed the shotgun, under Georgia Law, McMichael was allowed to use deadly force to protect himself.” Barnhill said there was “insufficient probable cause to issue a warrant arrest at this time.”

No one deserves the death penalty for suspected burglary. NO ONE. The McMichael’s should have called the police and let them handle the complaint. This is outrageous behavior to hunt someone down and kill them over mere suspicions. After Arbery collapsed on the road, Travis McMichael turned his back on him and strutted away with the shotgun in his hand, not even looking back to check on Arbery’s condition. This sends a message to every black family in America that our country’s neighborhoods are not safe for them to jog or walk. Moreover, vigilante justice is a threat to every American, especially when it is upheld by those entrusted by the people as keepers of the justice system.

We all, irrespective of race, religion, or ethnicity, should be furious. It is not only that a man was hunted down and killed for mere suspicion of burglary, but also the systemic and institutionalized bias of those in the legal system that concludes in a lack of probable cause for an arrest. . .  As in Isaiah 59:14 says, “And judgment is turned away backward, and justice stands afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.” Christ said in Matthew 24:12, “And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.” The unjust is an abomination to the just.  As a Christian man, I want to go on record that I deplore this injustice in the strongest possible terms.

In these times of heightened disinformation, fear, paranoia and chaos, all of which are not of our LORD, I am disappointed and deeply frustrated at IFAPray for posting a one sided, unjust article such as this one. IFAPray is about truth, unity; fact checking. (Further in response is a YouTube link on this case.)

I had to read this article more than once to ensure I was understanding the Daily Jot author’s inflection correctly. I also had to research The Daily Jot as I wanted to learn whom the source of such emotionally charged information was. I can’t tell if this is a blog or an actual article. To add to the problem, without first waiting for all of the information on this case to be publicized by the legal authorities, this author proclaims an extremest view by stating: “This sends a message to every black family in America that our country’s neighborhoods are not safe to jog or walk.” I highly doubt IFAPray staff supports said opinion.

Bill Wilson, Daily Jot author of this article, I couldn’t agree with you more that this altercation should never have ended in a death. I share this sadness with you. However, I say in love, I fully disagree with your emotional and divisive comment that: “…every black family in America is not safe to jog or walk.” Your comment is dangerous, slanderous, unethical, untrue and a tool of insidious division. I do not accept your accusation of racism you so freely assign to me and all of America. I resent the idea that any black, white, Hispanic, Asian family in my multi ethnic, multi cultural, white/blue-collar, law abiding and loving neighborhood and church, would think they must be fearful to freely jog or walk past my home and the homes of other neighbors; whom deeply love each other and see no boundary of color.

I know I can speak for my friends and family members whom live in various communities all across this beautiful America of ours, that they reject your accusation of racism upon their communities as well. I will not embrace this ideology of fear and hate. I forgive you, Bill Wilson, for such said comment. I offer sincere prayers that you may be comforted and informed in Christ. Only God knows the motives of a man’s heart and therefore Bill Wilson, I sincerely state I will not claim God’s ability to measure the motive of yours. Please ask God to reveal to you what that may be and to guard you in your future journalism endeavors. (Anyone reading this reply, please do not go on a vicious, hate-filled attack of this author. We do need to rebuke and redirect our brothers and sisters in Christ when in the wrong, but we must also immediately encourage them back into the sheep fold of our Saviour.)

I also deeply encourage all families of America to see through the emotion until you can see the fact; of anything you read or hear.

In addition, I often read reviews to hear others’ perspectives in the event they may have something factual to offer. It’s my form of researching. If it were not for “Julianne’s” review below, offering the YouTube clip of Officer Tatum, (and offered here https://youtu.be/sjCzJyFKoqo ) I may have prayed about this terrible and most unfortunate event in the wrong spirit for the wrong reasons.

Julianne, thank you; thank you for this resource. Thank you for your “Berean” heart response.

After listening to Officer Tatum’s YouTube clip of his explanation of GA laws and his law enforcement narrative of what is taking place in the neighborhood homeowners’ security videos, and then comparing it to the Daily Jot’s detailed article posted here on IFAPray, I see the two do not cohesively align. One of the very few facts shared is that a life, yes precious, was lost.

In great wisdom, Officer Tatum does not continue the video coverage through the moment of the shooting. Why would anyone, having nothing to do with this case in an investigatory or legal role, even want to watch something like that? We know what happened. Watching that specific detail could be counted as morbid curiosity and is neither necessary nor wise. It is not honoring to God. We are the temple of the Living God. Doesn’t God tell us to always guard our hearts as it is the wellspring of life? Does not our Holy Father tell us to seek truth, for it will set us free?

Whom at IFAPray researched Daily Jot’s article prior to posting? IFAPray, you are at the very tip of the journalism spear. You are beautiful and rare in this world and are known for being a loving and godly obedient informational source whom seeks to first glorify our LORD. Accepting this journalistic role, you are accountable to those taking-in your releases. It is your professional and spiritual responsibility to review and fact check every source of information coming from outside the immediate IFAPray reporters; even if they worship God. To ensure truth is reported and heated knee-jerk accusations avoided, it is imperative, not optional, to seek-out first-person or first-resource accounts. In an event as serious as this, finding even two to three additional first-person/resource accounts to confirm said first reported information is a must BEFORE exposing readers to such news. This is the first time I’ve seen this lack of professionalism from IFAPray.

However, on numerous prior occasions, I have been the fortunate participant on First Friday Intercessor Calls hearing you pray to God to forgive and free even those whom deceive and abuse their political power: (FBI, DOJ, Pelosi, Soros, WHO, the Left, Progressives, Voter Fraud, etc.) whom lie, steal, abuse and attempt to ruin America and her citizens’ God given constitutional rights; of course while crying out for justice, help and restoration of our land. You have always displayed a position of trustworthiness, unity, self-control, wisdom, intelligence and fact. You often encourage those on the call to not run away with emotions but remain steadfast in biblical and journalistic fact and truth; to trust and wait on God for His timing and revelation. This has always proven to result in a blessing and glorification of God’s Name. Finding this article on your platform is not reflective of such character; nor is it just.

I do not look at your action here as if I have never made mistakes in the information I’ve provided others. I am the first to share I’ve done the same. I am confident this is an oversight of IFAPray, and that IFAPray is not attempting to create an emotionally charged firestorm of disinformation leading to chaos and division. I highly encourage IFAPray to watch the YouTube clip, https://youtu.be/sjCzJyFKoqo and politely, yet adamantly, request IFAPray to retract this article, if for anything, to prevent further confusion and unjust division.

I am so grateful to all at IFAPray and proudly support this marvelous ministry. I enjoying praying with and for all of you on this team. I look forward to your future releases.

As an African American who has experienced racism, it is fair to say that we are not safe. The police were called on my son who was walking down the street in our neighborhood because the accuser said he was the one that had broken into their house although the homeowner was not home. Praise be to God he was covered in the blood and had his I.D. It breaks my heart when I read comments like yours. It is obvious that we live in 2 different worlds.

      Tara – Sister in Christ,

I am deeply saddened for the way your son was ill-treated and accused by a false witness. It’s inexcusable. I am grateful for God’s protection upon him.

I am not gullible nor blind to the fact that there is a disgusting problem. I’ve seen it first hand. I could have done a better job within my reply by adding that a form of change does need to happen and is only possible through the power and love of Jesus Christ.

Where my pain and heartache lies is when, yet again, I am being inadvertently, yet to blatantly, cast as a “racist” simply because, according to this author I am: an American, live in an American neighborhood and I’m not black. On many occasions journalists bash entire people groups for an action or crime that was committed by persons that look similar. It doesn’t make the incident any less awful, however the opportunity for widening the damage begins when journalists go to far; which I felt this journalist did.

I hold all of my family members and friends in the highest regard as beautiful. We are a group of many colors. We know our identity is found only in Christ. I would not accuse any one of my family or friends a thief based solely on their outer appearance any more than they would label me a racist simply because I do not share the same skin tone. We are all created in the image of God.

I do not wish to create further division. I sincerely ask our Lord to bless your son with His deep favor, Kingdom blessing and fresh spiritual prosperity. May your son know great satisfaction in the gifts and talents our Lord God has knitted in him.

      In unity in Christ-

This murder is unacceptable. These 2 men could be charged with pre meditated murder. They set out to murder him as they started after him with guns. Any real burglar would have not run right by guys standing beside their truck. Common sense should tell authorities that. Also those in that district that held the process of not arresting these two me should also be held accountable of the murder of this man. I live in Georgia and am embarrassed. Officials please make a statement to all that this is unacceptable in Georgia.

“That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there is nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, ‘See, this is new’? It has already been in ancient times before us.” (Ecclesiastes 1:9-10). This is ‘OLD NEWS’. It happens every day and sorrowfully, will continue until Jesus returns. Man’s hearts are evil and what is in it will manifest itself in deeds. It has become commonplace here in America since the time of slavery. Let’s face it: we are in trouble down here. However, to all who may read this post, I will leave you with this thought :”And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27). “For we must ALL appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that EACH ONE may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”
(2 Corinthians 5:10). I thank You, O Lord.

Oh Father, God we pray for Arbery’s family. Please comfort and give them strength during this very heartfelt and sadden time. My heart is heavy for this family, why do people think they can belittle and cast down someone else just because they think they can. God said vengeance is mine. God Bless and Keep Arbery’s family and all of us.

Lord, you said in your word that there is nothing that is hidden that shall not be revealed. You know the hidden motives if men’s hearts. Let the truth be exposed for all to see. You are a God of justice. No matter if people don’t like it, still you are a righteous and just God. Give wisdom to those in this case and let your Name be glorified. In Jesus Name, Amen.

There is no Justice on this Earth. Not really. Only when Jesus comes will there be Justice. Vengeance is God’s. He will repay. My 16-year old son was killed by an inattentive driver in 1988. The man actually caused the accident and then drove away. I’ve lived on this Earth without my son for 32 years. I know this grief. But I also know there is no Justice. Not on thisEarth. My forgiving the man that caused my son’s death helped me to live for God the rest of my life. And to live in peace. God is sovereign. I had to trust God. Nothing could happen to my son unless God allowed it. Robert is with Jesus. Eternity will reveal all the injustices and God’s Justice. If there was real Justice on this Earth we would all be dead. We all deserve death. But God forgave us and told us to do likewise. That’s real hard, but the only way to experience God’s forgiveness. God gave me the power to forgive and He will you too if you ask.

This is a very sensitive case. It is important to objectively examine all the data, video footage and sequence of events. This YouTube provides a lot of details that the Media are not sharing with the public:

Thank you Julianne. I am really disappointed that IFA did not do their due diligence since this story has been covered by the liberal news media without presenting all the facts. In agreement with your prayer

In this season our focus can be diverted to national injustices yet God sees the heart of men and man, singular and plural. Lord we pray for The Truth to be revealed, let also micarriage of justice be uncovered. Lord our justice department and government workers are your servants and in place to serve righteous judgment. I pray that they seek the truth without bias, without corrruption and without growing weary. As a body of Intercessors we pray for a clear and speedy uncovering, and that the media will clearly and honestly report all findings.
