Why Abortion Is the Priority for the Political Left
Abortion has become the center of the president’s reelection campaign, as well as a rallying cry for the political left. Why?
From The Christian Post. Last week on NBCāsĀ Meet the Press,Ā Joe Bidenās deputy campaign manager, Quentin Fulks, was asked what the presidentās top priority would be if reelected. His reply: āFirst of all:Ā Roe ā¦Ā The president has been adamant that we need to restoreĀ Roe.Ā It is unfathomable that women today wake up in a country with less rights than their ancestors had years ago.ā
Connect with others in your state in prayer.
According to Politico,Ā President Bidenās pro-choice agenda is āthe strongest abortion rights platform of any general election candidate,ā and the president seems to sense that this is among the very few issues trending in his favor. Of a recent Texas Supreme Court case in which a woman was denied a medical exception for an abortion, the president declared: āNo woman should be forced to go to court or flee her home state just to receive the health care she needs ā¦ This should never happen in America, period.ā
Judging by the string of pro-life legislative defeats, most recently in the otherwise red Ohio and Virginia, many Americans agree with the president.Ā OneĀ PoliticoĀ analysis concluded, āWhen abortion rights are on the ballot, they win with voters across the political spectrum ā though they donāt always boost Democratic candidates on ballots advocating for them.ā In an imminent presidential election that promises to be especially contentious, the received wisdom among progressive candidates is this: Vow to preserve, at all costs, the so-called āright to choose,ā and itās likely that voters will choose me.
Of course, this reveals as much about the rest of the progressive agenda as it does about āreproductive rights.ā Immigration and the southern border? Ukraine and Israel? Housing prices? Inflation? LGBTQĀ issues? The mental health crisis? These pressing issues are political liabilities for the president right now, so all the attention is on abortion.
It is more than a little ironic to see the heightened emphasis on abortion, considering how often Christians were accused of being āone-issueā voters. Post-Roe, left-wing politicians are forced to be more honest about abortionās central role in their political project.
And make no mistake, abortionĀ isĀ central not only to a progressive political agenda but to the vision of āfreedomā and selfhood this agenda has enshrined in American law and culture. In so many ways, abortion symbolizes the worldview in which autonomy and self-expression are the highest possible values. Itās the logical endpoint of the pursuit of freedomĀ fromĀ constraints, devoid of any notion of freedomĀ forĀ a created purpose.
In this view, connections to other human beings ā including the most intimate and dependent connection of all ā are only worthwhile insofar as they help citizens achieve that vision of limitless autonomy. If such connections get in the way of our freedoms, we should be free to sever them, no matter who suffers.
This deadly logic has become increasingly obvious in recent years as imaging technology in neo-natal care hasĀ made the humanity of preborn babies undeniable. Quite a few pro-abortion activists have responded by swallowing the proverbial poison pill and giving up on pretending children in the womb are āclumps of cells.āĀ So what if theyāre human?Ā These activists retort.Ā Their death is an acceptable price for women to maintain absolute control over their own bodies and futures! If our vision of freedom requires people to die, so be it.Ā
Still,Ā abortion is heavily restricted or banned in 24 states, mostly as a direct result of the Supreme Court overturningĀ Roe v. Wade,Ā and there are a few hopeful signs that the public hasnātĀ fullyĀ bought the logic of the extreme activists. For example, pro-abortion candidates, at least on the national level, still feel the need to pretend they find abortion distasteful. Last year,Ā President Biden prefacedĀ his supportĀ of abortionĀ by saying, āIām a practicing Catholic. Iām not big on abortion.ā Also, abortion is stillĀ typicallyĀ defended in public, not as an absolute, on-demand right, but as a necessaryĀ accommodationĀ in sad but rare circumstances like rape, incest, and the life of the mother. These āwedgeā arguments are deeply flawed and do not change the fact that intentionally taking an innocent human life is always wrong.Ā However,Ā their continued useĀ indicatesĀ that Americans arenāt quite ready to stomach the unrestricted killing of little people we find inconvenient.
Ultimately, the pro-life argument remains unchanged. The preborn are innocent human beings, made in Godās image, and no one should be able to take their lives without cause. In fact, the most basic purpose of government is to protect its citizensā right to life, and if the government fails to do this, it is failing in the most basic way. Simply put, if killing babies in the womb is not wrong, the very concept of ārightsā is a joke.
The presidentās eagerness to make abortion his top reelection priority is deeply significant, and it would be a mistake to dismiss the statement as mere politics. This issue has taken on symbolic, moral, and spiritual weight for our nation, and it will continue to be a bitterly fought battleground. Despite setbacks and disappointments, we can agree with the president on one thing. De-prioritizing this issue is not an option. The stakes ā for our society and its most vulnerable members ā are simply too high.

Abortion is nothing but demonic. Satan draws power from the innocent blood of these babies, and we have been feeding him for too many years. Satan desires to destroy innocence. It began in Eden, where he ruined the innocence of Adam and Eve, to the abomination of child mutilation and abortion. We are in a war of good vs. evil, and we must win! Pray daily to defeat the purposes of the enemy, especially regarding babies and children!
For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
Jeremiah 1:5 ~ “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
Psalm 127:3 Behold children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.
Open the hearts of the Father and Mother of these babies to see the baby as flesh of their flesh, precious, or for single Moms that this baby is precious in the Lord and a gift. That every child has a purpose and Your plan will be fulfilled when surrendered unto You.
God forgive us for dishonoring your creation ! Forgive this nation and turn the unrighteousness towards the unborn around to glorify you giving you praise for creating us as humans, give us your heart and love expressed from conception to adulthood until we meet with you in eternity in Jesus name!!!
As I ponder this extremely disturbing article, I rememberā¦
Psalm 127:3 Children are indeed a heritage from the LORD, and the fruit of the womb is His reward.
God sent Jesus, The Fruit of the Womb, to became His reward for the worldā¦
āLittle is much when God is in it.ā
ENSHRINE- to preserve or cherish as sacred; honor, dignify, exalt, magnify, glorify
GAY- having much high-spirited energy and movement
PRIDE- a reasonable or justifiable sense of one’s worth or importance; confidence, dignity, honor
THE RAINBOW:
And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant …Genesis 9
… As the rainbow appears that is in the cloud in the day of rain…This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the Lord . . . Ezekiel 1
… And He Who was sitting was in appearance like a jasper stone and a sardius stone; and a rainbow was around the throne . . .Revelation 4
Then I saw another strong angel coming down out of heaven, clothed with a cloud, and with a rainbow on his head ā¦Revelation 10
Dear Father and Lord God Almighty, have mercy! Your word says children are fruit and rewards; Jesus is proof. Your enemy hates children. Even though he uses Your creation to pervert Your goodness: Only You are enshrined, Only Yours is the Spirit we seek, Only in Christ can we attain confidence and dignity. I pray You will begin taking back what he has been hijacking. The rainbow is YOUR mighty covenant to us and a glimmer of what we will see in the Kingdom to come. Please forgive us for treating Your tiny ones with indifference. Please forgive us for Planned Parenthood and others who make their living on the blood of the innocent. Please forgive us for supporting āleadersā who promote abortion. I pray You are about to do a new thing. I felt encouragement as I typed thatā¦everything You do, is DONE. I pray this wickedness is DONE, as well as those who encourage it. I pray You are about to do something that brings us ALL to our knees, those who love You as well as those who donāt. Dear Father and Lord God Almighty, have mercy on the unborn. I ask this in the Name of The Firstborn of ALL Creation, Jesus Christ. Amen
Beautifully said and moving. My sister, who has passed, always said that we are taking the rainbow back. The rainbow is God’s covenant and God has allowed the evil to be out in the open. I know more and more are coming to the Lord and the most important battle is the battle to protect the unborn. They are the light and as more and more rise-up to protect the innocent, God will protect His people.
Dear FatherGod,
Pleases draw our heart to you that our heart and mines will aline with yours. that we as citizens of this country, we will love what you love.
