Heavenly Father, our national debt is an embarrassment beyond words. We need your wisdom to deal with this dilema, please help us!
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Many of you may not be aware that the national debt is setting records by the second. In the time it takes to write this sentence, the national debt has risen some $200,000. It stands a little over $22 trillion–$66,998 per citizen and $179,805 per taxpayer. The US workforce is 156.8 million, but there are 94.9 million not in the workforce. There are 158.3 million people receiving some form of government benefits, including 37 million on food stamps. In other words, national debt is nearly $180,000 per taxpayer (someone who is generating income, ie. working) and there are over 10 million more people receiving government benefits than are working. We have become a socialist state in dire financial condition.

These figures are found on the US National Debt Clock as provided by various government agencies. We are in great trouble as a nation. Even though the government has mandated that everyone must buy insurance, there are still 27.5 million people without insurance. The debt, according to the US Department of Treasury, jumped more than $30 billion in just the last month. I remember in the 1980s, the news media was busting on the Reagan Administration for adding $1.86 trillion to the national debt, raising the defense budget by 35% which brought a huge peace dividend when the cold war ended. Hardly a word was reported with the immediate past “president” raising the debt by nearly $8.6 trillion.

Judd Gregg and Edward Rendell, co-chairmen of the nonpartisan Campaign to Fix the Debt, a project of the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, issued a statement saying the debt eclipsing $22 trillion “is another sad reminder of the inexcusable tab our nation’s leaders continue to run up and will leave for the next generation. With deficits rising and gross debt scheduled to jump by more than $1 trillion annually, Congress must take action to put the country on a more sustainable path. The fiscal recklessness over the past years has been shocking, with few willing to step up with a real plan. We need responsible leadership to fix the debt, not a worsening of partisanship.”

There is an old saying, “If you dance all night, you have to pay the fiddler in the morning.” Trouble is, this debt dance by these cunning, incompetent elected officials is costing Americans so much that no one can afford even their part of the fiddler’s fee. At $22 trillion, this national debt could cause a huge economic collapse. It is increasingly difficult to live by the Biblical standard found in Romans 13:7,8, “Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. Owe no man any thing, but to love one another.” From debt to taxes to customs to tribute–who is going to pay? I’ve also been told, “Love don’t pay the bills.” Leadership matters. Accountability is key. We need to demand better. (Used with permission. By Bill Wilson. Read more at www.dailyjot.com)

Trillion becomes just another incomprehensible word. I cant relate to hundred dollar bills stacked clear to heaven to define “trillion”.

However, I can relate to a dam that has breached and allows water to flow across an entire town, a county, state.

If my home, land, city, etc. Is no longer livable, who is to help? Can you see the effects of a government whose spending has breached the financial flow?

To reiterate: “The Lord God Almighty is calling this nation to weep, turn your face to the wall. Cut out the distractions and hear My voice.

You cry Mercy. I have been Merciful for centuries but where were you?

The big push begins this day. Repent. I Am no longer concerned with your going to and fro and fomenting trouble for this nation but am concerned that the newborn will have a planet to live on.

It’s now a choice. Love Me. Love my creation or be prepared for judgement.

Eternity awaits. Choose wisely. Amen..”

Heavenly Father, I come to You in the precious name of Jesus, asking You to give wisdom to the leaders of our state and federal government. Father, we know much money has been wasted in the past by our leaders who are not seeking to balance the budget. Father, we know that even if the budget was balanced, the debt our nation has now is accumulating tremendous interest making us deeper in debt. ONLY YOU can direct our path out of this terrible situation. Show our leaders the way and give the them the desire to follow Your way. We thank and praise You for the knowledge You have given our leaders, and we thank You for Pres. Trump who is trying to follow Your way. In Jesus’s name I pray. Amen

O Father in heaven, have mercy on us again, would You? By our greed, we have earned national bancruptcy. Grant us rescue by honest, courageous leaders who trust in Your Son, the Lord Jesus. Have mercy on us and send us revival. For His sake, I ask for historic praying and multiplied faith among Americans of every generation. Have mercy on us!

Every time I talk to people about this 22 Trillion debt we have they say, SO! All I ever hear is free insurance is a must, free school a must, school debt’s gone. If we are 22 Trillion in debt without these free things, how can we make it with these freebies? If we don’t pay our share in all things, it could bankrupt us as a Nation.

Luke 12:15: “Then He said to them, “Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.” Lord, teach us to repent of our greediness, taking for ourselves now and leaving the hardship for those to come after us. Cure us of our lust for present pleasures which so blind us to the joy of a relationship with You. Show sloth to be the bog of Satan and not the cleverly devised leisure upon which the self-entitled congratulate themselves. Reveal to us the ultimate worthlessness of idolizing the things we see advertised and help us to see the eternal value of Your Word. Instill in us a desire to be free of debt, content with what we can earn for ourselves and happy to do without until we have prepared the way to acquire more. Make us wise in the ways of the ant; make us ashamed to be lazy and foolish. Give us the wisdom and the words to demand our leaders stop undermining our country with wasteful debt. Wake us up and make us see ourselves passing the signposts to Hell. Turn us around and lead us back to You. “Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” (Ephesians 5:14) Shine Your light into our eyes and hearts, in the name of Jesus, the way, the light, and the truth. Amen.
