I Prayed have prayed
Lord, thank you for Reverend Grant and his stand for life.

Virginia House Democrats walked out of the legislature Tuesday when a pastor confronted them about their support for killing unborn babies.

The Virginia Mercury reports the Rev. Dr. Robert M. Grant Jr.’s opening prayer for the state legislature condemned abortion and warned about God’s “wrath” if abortion activists do not repent.

Grant, a pastor who serves The Father’s Way Church in Warrenton and runs a charity to help orphans in Africa, received the invitation to pray from pro-life Del. Dave LaRock, R-Loudoun, according to the report.

The local news did not provide direct quotes from Grant’s prayer, but he apparently was cut short after Democrats began to walk out. One lawmaker even interrupted Grant, yelling, “Is this a prayer or a sermon?” according to the local news.

Grant defended his prayer against pro-abortion Democrats’ accusations afterward.

“I think that the statehouse belongs to all the citizens. And all the citizens have a voice,” Grant said. “If it’s my turn to have a voice, and I am a pastor, what do you expect from me? If you don’t want to hear what a pastor has to say, then don’t invite one.”

Two pro-abortion Democrat lawmakers had a different point of view. According to the report:

Del. Delores McQuinn, D-Richmond, a pastor, said most prayers are delivered as blessings for legislators and the work they’re undertaking.

“In many ways it felt like condemnation,” McQuinn said of Tuesday’s prayer.

“Most of the clergy that come here have been very respectful of the opportunity extended to them,” [Del. Luke Torian, D-Prince William, who is a pastor] said. “And every now and then you get someone that goes off the rail.”

But pro-life Christians may very well ask how a pastor could pray to “bless” state lawmakers who are working aggressively to end all rights and protections for babies before birth. Since taking over the Virginia legislature in January, pro-abortion Democrats have been pushing a number of radical pro-abortion bills that would strip away protections for both women and children.

Two weeks ago, the Virginia House passed a bill to repeal common-sense abortion restrictions, including a requirement that doctors perform abortions and another that ensure women are fully informed prior to going through with the abortion. Other legislation making its way through the legislature would repeal the state parental consent requirement for minors seeking abortions, National Review reports.

Christianity condemns abortion because it destroys the life of an innocent, unborn child who is created in the image of God. It also teaches that Christians must stand up and defend the most vulnerable in society, especially women and children.

Oh my, sounds like he stepped on toes and a much needed “stepping” in my opinion. Not all prayers are blessings and you can’t just continually ask for blessings w/o some penitence. Prayers are also supplications for guidance, for help, for wisdom and I suspect that was Rev. Grant’s intent (and yes, some condemnation for the choices they are, will be making). God Bless Rev. Grant and keep him strong and bold. May he keep doing the job God has given him. The problem with situations like this is playing to people’s feelings instead of offering them the truth. Sounds like they were hearing truth they did not want, so they ran away looking for a “safe” space. They should have offered him respect, as they want respect, not contempt and whining for who he is, even in disagreement. Oh, God our father, let the message sink home into the hearts and minds of our legislators. God forgive our state and our people for tolerating this wandering so far from our roots and from your precepts, commands and instruction. May your spirit work in the chambers and stir these people like never before. Thank you Lord for your mercy and your forgiveness and most of all for the grace of your son, Jesus the Christ.

Thank you Dr. Robert M. Grant Jr. to tell and witness to the Democrats who have no right to come against little babies and kill the unborn before or after birth! Praise God he stood up to them in prayer. God will honor that. Wow, those Democrats think they can do whatever they want, but we will see what God Almighty does here soon.

Heavenly Father I am praying over Pastor Grant and his family right now for protection and that his HolySpirit boldness will continue to be prayed out loud for our unborn babies. I pray this story will spark a fire under the other Pastors here in Virginia to pray prayers to move people to conviction like this Pastor did. Condemnation comes from a sinful unrepentant heart. I pray the leaders who walked out and felt condemned would not be able to rest until they turn from their wicked decision making and if not, to be soon replaced. Please join me in sending Pastor Grant some encouragement on his website:http://www.thefathersway.org

Father God, I pray that the Virginia legislature experiences the fear of the Lord. I pray that Your Holy Spirit comes upon them with conviction of sin and that they understand they will be held accountable to You for the lives of unborn children and the harm to women from the laws they are passing.
In Jesus name I pray they repent. Amen.

O God of our praise, do not be silent as we cry out to You for the protection, deliverance, and vindication of the lives of the born and unborn children of this world. Please correct the hearts of any and all lawmakers standing for abortion and we pray that You will show them the error of their ways. Please strike down the pro-abortion laws of this nation – especially in VA and NY. We pray that You strike down Roe v. Wade and silence the lies and abhorrent reasoning of those who advocate for the murder of our children. Please open the eyes of the women and mothers – Lord we pray that You will touch their hearts and open their eyes to the harm they are advocating for and committing. Save our children, Lord. Please deliver them from harm and out of the hands of demons.

Please continue to lift up the voice of righteousness through those who follow You and please surround them with a spirit of boldness and courage to preach truth and repentance.

Please hear as we cry out to You, Almighty God. We love You and praise Your holy name. In Jesus’ name, amen.
