Thank You Lord that our president acknowledges You and Your Word.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

President Donald Trump thinks it is “great” that the option of Bible classes is returning to public schools.

“Numerous states introducing Bible Literacy classes, giving students the option of studying the Bible. Starting to make a turn back? Great!” the president tweeted Monday.

In six states across the nation, bills to allow the Bible to be taught in the classroom, not as theology but on “Bible literacy” and historical grounds, are being considered.

In an interview on Fox and Friends Monday morning, North Dakota state representative Aaron McWilliams explained that the bill is important because it permits students to study what provided the foundation for American society, including how it informed the Constitutional Congress.

Yet groups like Americans United for Separation of Church and State are opposing the measures, asserting that they are part of a scheme to impose Christianity on public school students.

While separation of church and state is important, McWilliams said, it is impossible to separate books from education, citing a 1963 Supreme court case in which the high court ruled that it was permissible to do Bible-reading in school provided that it was done from historical and literary context.

“As long as we’re not teaching faith in the school, we can go for it,” he said, noting that the proposed Bible literacy class is not compulsory, but an elective.

“When you look at the Bible on its influence on our history, the system of judges comes from Exodus 18,” he added, referencing principles in the legal system that have biblical roots.

In Missouri, state representative Ben Baker filed a bill to allow school districts in the state to teach the Bible as an elective.

“The history of our country, a lot of it is tied to principles that are there, and so, from a historical perspective, and it would be something that is an elective that is an opt-in for students, so, and I think it’s some great legislation that hopefully we can see move through the process. There’s a lot of steps for that to get to where I’d like to see it,” Baker said earlier this month.

Similar bills are also presently being considered in Indiana, West Virginia, Virginia and Florida. Last year, Alabama, Iowa, and West Virginia considered bills but none were adopted.

When schools disallow religious texts like the Koran and the Bible into the school, a secular religion is essentially established in the vacuum, McWilliams explained Monday.

Soon after President Trump’s tweet praising the Bible classes, a few jokes appeared online.

“Biblical literacy would actually undermine Trump’s support so not sure why he’s promoting it,” tweeted David Gibson, the director of Fordham University’s Center on Religion & Culture. (Excerpts from Brandon Showalter article in The Christian Post)

Lord God, as Paul said, for what ever reason, if Christ be preached then it is a good thing. I pray that these bills would go through. I pray that the misuse of the separation of church and state would be understood and our represenitives cancel out the damage that the twisting of it has caused in our laws, especially those in relation to education. protect our children, Lord, make school a safe place for them to be. in Jesus name, Amen

David Gibson perhaps does not realize that the President’s standing for the Bible shows he is more interested in eternal purposes than he is his earthly campaign.

Lord raise up an army of Joshuas and Esthers. Of believers in this generation..Let every Word they read and study be rooted in their hearts. And guard those seeds from the enemy. Let not one seed fall on thorny ground. In Jesus Name.

In institutions of learning, I find it very intellectually dishonest not to inform kids that the Bible is the number one all time best seller. They deserve to know what the Bible teaches and then make their own choice about whether they believe it or not. We have allowed ourselves to be bullied into not speaking.

As these classes take place let the Word of God speak for the word is sharper than a two edged sword. Let this be a renewing of the mind that minds would be set on things above and not on the things of the earth. Open minds and hearts to see the truth. Amen

Father God, the entrance of your word brings light. Grant favor and blessings upon those working to get the Bible back into schools. I pray that many children will find their way to you through the words they read in the Holy Bible. Lord receive your honor and be glorified in our society once again. In Jesus name amen.
