We hope you enjoy this excerpt from our latest devotional series, It’s All About the Blood of Christ. Friend of IFA Patsy Taylor outlines the vital importance of the blood of Christ to intercession and Christian living in 14 short devotionals, delivered to your email inbox daily.
The 1998 “National Day of Prayer” proved to be very significant for me. Though I had been a Christian for more than 50 years and was a pastor’s wife with a Bible School background, I realized that my own prayer life was in need of major adjustment, so I began seeking the Lord.
For years God had spoken to me through music, leading me to write a number of songs, but this time an unbidden picture formed in my mind. I clearly saw a bright red road, leading up from earth to heaven, and in my spirit I heard these words: “There’s a path to heaven’s throne, paved with blood of God’s own Son. The way is open, so we can boldly come.” From my contemplation of those words, the song, “We Will Pray” was born, and God has used it to challenge me to pray more effectively.
There’s a path to heaven’s throne, paved with blood of God’s own Son.
The way is open, so we can boldly come
To bring petitions to our God, in the name of Christ the Lord.
When we ask bread, He will not give a stone.
Darkness spreads with sin untold, as we see prophecies unfold.
We cry to God, “What can we do?”
He says, “My word is very clear. He who has ears let him hear,
“For I have given the answer to you.”
(Chorus)
You must pray without ceasing; you must pray with thanksgiving.
You must pray with believing; you must pray always forgiving.
You must pull down the strongholds, casting down imaginations,
Until God’s glory — great glory —
Is known in all the earth.
As we pray for peaceful nations and for healing of relations,
We must confess our faith is small.
We need a fresh touch from His hand. We need revival in our land,
To show that Jesus is Lord of all.
When the Church responds as one, then we’ll see God’s work get done.
The world will know our God is true.
“Not to us, O Lord,” we pray. “The vict’ries at Your feet we lay.
“Now all the glory belongs to You.”
(Chorus)
We will pray without ceasing; we will pray with thanksgiving.
We will pray with believing; we will pray always forgiving.
We will pull down the strongholds, casting down imaginations,
Until God’s glory — great glory —
Is known in all the earth.
