SING PRAISES OVER YOUR CITY SATURDAY!
The following post is from Terry and Barbi Franklin of Worship City and Love Sings Ministries:
I’m sure you are as grieved as we are about the turmoil in our country. Our city of Nashville, like so many others, experienced both peaceful protests…along with hateful rioting and looting. Perhaps you’ve thought, like we have, “What can we do?” Recently, Barbi had a vision: We can get people to sing together! …right on Broadway, in downtown Nashville… not just any song… but one that everyone knows and loves.
The song? …“Amazing Grace”
Why? This beloved song, written by a former slave ship captain, universally known, was part of the “soundtrack” of the civil rights movement, and most importantly, clearly carries the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ… the only hope for true reconciliation between God and man, and humankind.
So… last Saturday night… a group of about 20 of us sang this song outside of the closed, looted Margaritaville Bar and Boot Barn. Some of our team leaders had spoken with bar managers on Broadway earlier in the day, inviting their bar bands to play Amazing Grace at the same time that night. Incredibly, 18 of 20 bars said YES! So literally, Amazing Grace was sung all the way up and down the Broadway strip! And… Fox 17 Nashville showed up and live-streamed the event right to their Facebook page. It currently has had over 125,000 views! CLICK HERE: FOX 17 NASHVILLE Live-Streamed
Some might say, “But Barbi & Terry, those are bars and taverns… that’s kind of a long ways from a church.” Yes, and in those same bars are people that need our Savior… just like our churches. And I promise you this: Sitting on a barstool in one of those 18 bars was someone that grew up in church… maybe even a pastor’s daughter.
So… we want YOU to join us THIS COMING SATURDAY June 13th to
“Sing Amazing Grace At 8”
Here’s what you can do no matter where you are in America:
If you are in the NASHVILLE AREA:
Please join us by meeting at 7 pm in front of the Margaritaville Bar (322 Broadway). We will pray at 7 and then sing the song at 8 pm. There are numerous parking lots around. We also think meter parking is free after 6 PM, but plan time to find a parking spot early, because we want to start on time. WE WILL BRING THE LYRICS!!!
If you are in ANOTHER CITY or STATE:
You can still join us and “Sing Amazing Grace At 8” in YOUR CITY
Our vision is to bring the gospel message, healing, and unity to OUR broken cities, but this can be a tool for many to use in their own cities to unify all ages, races, churches and get us back to where hope is born… at the foot of the cross and by the GRACE that only God can give when we humble ourselves and turn back to Him! We hope you’ll join us in YOUR city… please let us know if you did. We’d love to hear from you.
So… you say, “What do I do to pull this off?”
