RELIGIOUS FREEDOM ADVANCES
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM ADVANCES
Thank God for the court rulings in favor of religious freedom. One issue has been decisively settled by SCOTUS, but the Mississippi law faces more legal challenges. Let’s seek God together for favor and protection of religious liberty.
But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you. (Ps 5:11)
SCOTUS RULES IN FAVOR OF CHURCH:
“The Supreme Court ruled decisively Monday that religious institutions should be eligible to receive public funds for purely secular purposes.
Like, for instance, playgrounds.
The justices ruled 7-2 that Missouri stretched the constitutional separation of church and state too far by declaring a Lutheran church ineligible to receive a competitive state grant for playground resurfacing. The decision could have implications for more than 30 states that block public funds from going to religious organizations.
Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the decision. Only Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor dissented.” (Excerpted from USA Today, reporting by Richard Wolf.)
MISSISSIPPI RELIGIOUS FREEDOM LAW PASSES LEGAL HURDLE:
“Legislators in 2016 passed House Bill 1523, called the ‘Protecting Freedom of Conscience from Government Discrimination Act.’
It aims to protect three beliefs: marriage is only between a man and a woman; sex should only take place in such a marriage; and a person’s gender is determined at birth and cannot be altered.
Legal experts say it is one of the broadest bills passed by any state in reaction to the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that legalized same-sex marriage nationwide.
It would allow clerks to cite religious objections to recuse themselves from issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples, and would protect merchants who refuse services to LGBT people. It could affect adoptions and foster care, business practices and school bathroom policies.
Multiple lawsuits were filed by gay and straight Mississippi residents, and U.S. District Judge Carlton Reeves blocked the bill just before it could become law last July 1.
On Thursday, a panel of the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said it would lift the injunction Reeves imposed.” (Excerpted from The Washington Times, analysis by Emily Wagster Pettus.)

Keep awake! Do not sleep like others. Watch and keep your minds awake to what is happening…. 1 thessalonians 5:6-7.
And my God will give you everything you need because of His great riches in Christ Jesus. The young lionswant and hunger. But they who look for the LORD will not be without any good thing. Most important of all, you need a covering of faith in front of you. This is to put out the fire-arrows of the devil. Ephesians 6:16 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. Our warfare is not in the carnal realm, it is not against flesh and blood. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but they are mighty in God for pulling down strongholds. Praise the LORD. Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, who finds great delight in his commands. His children will be mighty in the land; the generation of the upright will be blessed. Wealth and riches are in his house, and his righteousness endures forever. Even in darkness light dawns for the upright, for the gracious and compassionate and righteous man. Goodwill will come to him who is generous and lends freely, who conducts his affairs with justice. Surely he will never be shaken; a righteous man will be remembered forever. He will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD. His heart is secure, he will have no fear ; in the end he will look triumph on his foes.He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor, his righteousness endures forever; his horn will be lifted high in honor. The wicked man will see and be vexed, he will gnash his teeth and waste away; the longings of the wicked will come to nothing. Lord, You are victory! We have faith that You hear and answer our prayers, in Jesus name!
I pray that something of the same will be passed in Virginia
God’s Word is the Supreme over all. Praise God for this decision by the Supreme Court.
What do GOD say’s is what matters,
not man.
Sodom and Gomorrah was real. Think about it.
What do the GOD say’s is what matters,
not man.
What do the Holy Bible say is what matters not man.
