I Prayed have prayed
Dear Heavenly Father, we ask in Jesus’ name that You would obliterate racism from our nation. Draw us together in the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace, and help us to remember that we are all created in the image of God—and that every human being is worthy of honor and respect.

Racism is evil and it breaks the heart of God. But did you know there is something we can do to eliminate racism? True story! And that “something” we can do is to PRAY.

Join others crying out to the Lord day and night.

Some of the greatest civil rights movements we have seen so far in our nation have been bathed and fueled in prayer. Why? Because righteous people should always cry out against injustice. And when we cry out to God, our prayers change things. So could we unite together in prayer and see God obliterate racism from our nation? No question; we could.

Will you join me in praying for all racism to end in our beautiful nation today?

Let’s look at some key Scriptures we can pray back to God as we contend for the ending of racism:

First, always remember that it is God’s will for every nation, tribe, people, and language to be united in worshiping Him. Revelation 7:9-10 says:

After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9-10 NKJV).

Heaven looks like people of every color, race, background, and nation standing together as one before God. Therefore, we know that such a level of interracial unity is God’s will.

Also, all who believe in Christ are one in His Spirit:

I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all (Ephesians 4:1-6 NKJV).

So we can and should pray that the Lord would convict His people about our unity and oneness in Jesus. And since all people on earth belong to God (see Psalm 24:1) even if they are not saved, God can still turn the hearts of all men, women, and children.

Racism has no place in the world, and it’s time for us to pray it OUT of the world.

Let’s pray this simple prayer together today as follows:

“Heavenly Father, I come before You in Jesus’ name. Father God, I see the issue of racism as the blight upon the earth that it is. I know it breaks Your heart.

Father God, please have mercy. Change the hearts of Your people. Call this issue to the attention of every believer in Christ. Highlight this issue in our minds across the whole Body, Lord. Let every nonbeliever see Your truth about unity between the races, also. Help every one of us to rise up and speak out in righteousness.

Father, we ask that Your Holy Spirit would convict every person in America about the evils of racism.

Show us any ways that we have embraced the lies of racism that the enemy has sown in our midst. An enemy has done this, Father, and so I ask that You would send Your holy angels to root it out.

Father, I plead for racial unity in our nation. I pray that You would help the American people to unite around righteousness, and that we would no longer would we be separated by race, tribe, color, language, or nationality.

Father, let unity come. Let forgiveness come. Let healing happen across racial lines and gender lines. Let the color line and the gender line be washed away by the blood of Jesus.

Have mercy, God, and change our hearts–and give us a burden to keep interceding until we see the unity of the Spirit and the bond of peace manifest in every way.

Thank You, Father. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Friend, racism is wrong. And although some people don’t even think it exists anymore, it does.

Please join me in praying for the ending of all racism today. Let us pray together in unity until the color line IS washed away in the blood of Jesus Christ, and until we can stand together as Americans with our eyes only upon Jesus—and not on the color of people’s skin.

The Southern Baptist Convention was formed in 1845 with 300 leaders splitting from their northern Baptists friends to form a new pro slavery denomination. The founding faculty of the Southern Baptist Seminary owned slaves and defended slavery. In the early 20th century an ordained Baptist minister led the Ku Klux Klan. After President Obama the Republicans “chose the most extreme white backlash candidate” as David Gushee put it. And he was backed by the majority of white evangelicals.

Wiki is obviously a questionable source and so is David Gushee.

“As a Christian ethicist, Gushee has periodically been outspoken about current controversial societal topics. His positions on such issues as climate change, torture, and LGBT rights have often put him into conflict with his traditional evangelical constituency. For example, In 2015, Russell Moore, also a well-known Evangelical ethicist, implied that Gushee was not a true Evangelical because of his change of belief supporting LGBT civil rights.[19] Gushee describes himself as “post evangelical” and attends both Catholic Mass and Baptist services.[20]”

I’ve appreciated the comments, and believe that defining race and racism might be important. Personally, I believe that there is only one race – the human race. We might be different shades (with less/more melanin), different ethnicities, different nationalities, speak different languages, etc., etc. – but we are all human beings descended from Noah. Instead of valuing what we share in common, and what makes us unique as well – we use these differences to excuse hatred and bigotry. While we are all God’s creations, we are not all His children. Our desire should be to have that distinction removed, as more and more join the family by trusting Yeshua as Savior and LORD. Then as C R notes, we can truly experience unity in Him.

FATHER GOD, being a Black American, I stopped seeing racism when I became born-again! FATHER GOD I pray for the LORD of the Harvest to send laborers to those that see racism everywhere and deliver them! Save their souls to become earthly citizens of Heaven until the day we are reunited with our SAVIOUR JESUS in Heaven in JESUS NAME! Amen!

It is the INDIVIDUAL love of God, which IS SPREAD abroad in each of our hearts that obliterates racism and ALL hate of others, and this is the only way to defeat racism! It is NOT God who spreads, incites hate. That is an act of the enemy

Racism and division are works of satan. I pray God opens our eyes to truth and increases our faith in Him and His Word. I pray we allow Holy Spirit into the deepest recesses of our hearts so we can be made whole, in the Name of Jesus!

The terminology of racism can mean many things to many people.

I wonder if we could be more precise? Here’s a suggestion that I have since adopted.

Jon Harris’ podcast “Conversations That Matter” spends a great deal of thoughtful time on the sin of “ethnic partiality” which I believe is a much more specific term. James says that if we look at people according to their outside status (or perhaps skin color) and treat them with partiality, it is a sin.

James 2 (ESV) The Sin of Partiality

2 My brothers,[a] show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory. 2 For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assembly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, 3 and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, “You sit here in a good place,” while you say to the poor man, “You stand over there,” or, “Sit down at my feet,” 4 have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Are not the rich the ones who oppress you, and the ones who drag you into court? 7 Are they not the ones who blaspheme the honorable name by which you were called?

“for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Unity is of God, division is a favorite device of the devil. Our God is a God of reconciliation and acceptance but we create so many man-made, artificial divisions when left to our own sinful ways – that’s why we have so many denominations, man-made differences in how to worship etc. when we have one God – one Bible – one Redeemer. We all came from Adam and Eve (or Noah and his family) but we use any excuse to separate ourselves from each other. In India it’s the caste system, about what socio-economic group you are born into, in Jesus time it was Jew vs. Gentile, – royalty vs. non royal has been a big division in past cultures. We need to follow God’s playbook – “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

I agree with Saint Exupery who said – “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” If only we could see each other as our Creator God sees each one of us! That is the key. We are all created in God’s image, all infinitely valuable to Him. So much so that He died for each and every one of us on that cross. I would do well to remember that so that I do not judge others for whatever reason, but see others (as King said) as God’s children – we are all God’s precious children. We are siblings – and we know how hard it is to get along with siblings from personal experience (unless you are an only child). Cain and Abel are a cautionary tale for us all. We all need God’s presence and intervention in our lives and in our circumstances to live the lives He has called us to live – including living in peace with our fellow human beings, with whom we have more in common than differences – but our culture exacerbates the differences to keep us at odds with each other for political gain while God knows it is in our best interests to “love our neighbors as ourselves.” (and everyone is our neighbor) Ending division and discrimination based on anything, including skin color, is an impossible task apart from God – BUT – “with God all things are possible.” so we believe and continue to fight the good fight, trusting God for the outcome. http://www.mtothe5th.wordpress.com

When you are praying to end racism in this country you are asking God to do what He has already done. Racism does not exist in the United States of America. False accusations of racism most certainly exist and need to be called out for what they are. They are lies and slander designed to divide people and make people angry at one another. Dear God I pray that we may realize we are all brothers and sisters in Christ and love one another with pure hearts. Deliver us from the evil of the deception of racism.

I have not seen racism listed as a sin in the Bible per se. But I think what people mean by racism is rejection of a people group, oppression of a people group, maybe even violence toward a People group and more. So is there any sin that we can obliterate? No! We can only ask God to forgive our sins and heal us by sincere repentance and confession. Can we all comprehend that all of us came from Adam and Eve? So why hate or despise, or reject a person because of the color of their skin, anything cultural about the person, it is beyond my comprehension and should be unthinkable for a Christian. May God heal us and help us to love.
