America faces a terrible epidemic of broken homes and broken families. An outpouring of the Spirit of Elijah would counteract it.

Many people may not have heard of the Spirit of Elijah—or if they have, they may not realize what a powerful weapon this is in our arsenal. So, let’s take a brief look at what the Scriptures say about the Spirit of Elijah today!

Pray for your fellow intercessor.

First, what is the Spirit of Elijah?

The Spirit of Elijah is simply a manifestation of God’s Holy Spirit. In other words, the Spirit of Elijah is God’s Holy Spirit acting a certain way, poured out on the earth by God the Father in order to accomplish a certain thing.

And when the Spirit of Elijah is poured out, what does He do?

Malachi 4:5-6 says:

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse (Malachi 4:5-6 NKJV).

So we see in this passage that the Spirit of Elijah turns the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.

Also, in Luke 1:17, the angel Gabriel prophesied about John the Baptist’s assignment on earth. Gabriel mentioned the Spirit of Elijah and described that Spirit this way:

He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord (Luke 1:17 NKJV).

So in this passage, we see that:

• The Spirit of Elijah carries the power of God with and in Himself;
• He turns the hearts of the fathers to the children;
• He turns the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; and
• He makes ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Wow! What a powerful outpouring and manifestation of the Holy Spirit!

My friend, we need the Spirit and power of Elijah in these United States today!

Can you imagine how different our country would look if all parents’ hearts were turned toward their children, and the hearts of all children turned toward their parents? For example:

• Fatherlessness and abuse and drug abuse and broken homes would disappear overnight.
• Families would gather on their knees in their living rooms around their coffee tables, crying out to the Lord for forgiveness.
• Repentance would be the name of the game in every household across America.
• Even marriages would be healed and saved, as adults suddenly realize the effect that their broken marriage is having on their children!

The Spirit of Elijah causes you to love your children (biological, adopted, and spiritual) with all your heart. It also causes you to respect and love your parents with all your heart.

Friend, a widespread outpouring of the Spirit of Elijah would be a game-changer for America.

I purposely made it short so you could easily memorize it and pray it every day without too much trouble. Let’s join together in praying this:

“Jesus, please pour out the Spirit of Elijah on every human being in our nation. Let the hearts of the fathers be turned to the children, the hearts of the children turned to the fathers, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just. Thank You.”

Friend, it’s a simple prayer—but remember that it’s “‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the Lord of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6 NKJV). God’s precious Holy Spirit of Jesus is the answer to everything we face. And it’s clearly His desire to turn parents and children back to one another, based on the Scriptures. Shall we gather daily in our separate prayer closets and pray this prayer in unity with one another? I hope you will!
