Late last week, Michael Whatley was elected chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC), with Lara Trump, daughter-in-law of former President Donald Trump, elected as co-chair. This is a huge shakeup in the Republican Party that has sparked all sorts of reactions.

As personalities bicker over the new leaders of the GOP, it is up to us to pray for Whatley, Trump, and all those at the helm of the RNC. Follow along with the prayer points below as you offer up prayer for Republicans and the Republican Party.
Pray for leaders who are righteous men and women appointed by God.
We pray for You to appoint committee men and women — Davids and Deborahs — at the RNC who will serve the people, who have the heart of our good shepherd, Jesus Christ. We ask that as the new RNC Committee is being built, You would help the leadership select capable men and women.
For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God (Romans 13:1b).
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when a wicked man rules, the people groan (Proverbs 29:2).
Pray for leaders who have wisdom and a fear of the Lord.
We ask for wisdom for the new leadership. Assign women and men to write the new platform built upon biblical principles. You said in Your Word: For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy (James 3:16–18). So we ask You, Jesus, for wisdom that is from above.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding (Proverbs 9:10).
Wisdom and knowledge will be the stability of your times, and the strength of salvation; the fear of the Lord is His treasure. … “Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? Who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?” He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, he who despises the gain of oppressions, who gestures with his hands, refusing bribes, who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed, and shuts his eyes from seeing evil: He will dwell on high; his place of defense will be the fortress of rocks; bread will be given him, his water will be sure (Isaiah 33:6,14b–16).
Pray for leaders who love the truth.
We pray for men and women to be placed by you, Lord, and that they might be those who speak truth and declare righteousness. We pray for the rise of men and women with integrity, who live in the fear of the one true living God, and who have made no oaths or covenants with other gods. Lord, we ask for servants who are bound to You and You alone. Remove any and all deceit from the party’s leadership. We decree that the RNC would not be bound by a political spirit. We pray that You would root out all religious spirits and systems.
Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal truthfully are His delight (Proverbs 12:22).
“Moreover you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness” (Exodus 18:21).
Pray for leaders who seek unity.
We pray that there would be a new sound of the unity of the Holy Spirit in the RNC. Unity comes from the Holy Spirit. Division comes from the flesh and the enemy. We pray for the healing of our national divisions, and we offer prayer for Republicans across America.
“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as we are one” (John 17: 20–23).

Father God, it is heartbreaking to see the division among brothers and sisters in Christ. Our division here reflects the division and animosity in the secular world. Since I came to be part of IFA a few months ago, this has been my place to find peace as we pray in unity for God’s will to be done here on earth and for Him to use each of us and whoever He will to accomplish that. I usually come away from my morning IFA prayers refocused and with more of God’s peace. Seeing the angry discord among believers is saddening.
While I have incredibly strong political opinions, they are based on what I have learned through many sources including IFA, and I am learning others have equally strong opinions that are opposed to mine. God is teaching me not to judge them but to pray in line with His will, recognizing that those who disagree are doing the same. I think we need to resist the devil’s invitation to finger point and name call, especially here. I don’t know how God will save this country but I know it will be through flawed people because that’s all He has to work with. I know what I wish and hope for, but I know God can do exceedingly, abundantly more than we can ask or imagine. I pray God will help us as individuals and a nation repent and turn from all the evil we’ve allowed in this country so that He can heal our land and make it a beacon of hope for all. It was founded on faith, may God refocus us all and give us wisdom as we form our opinions and choose our leaders and also that He would direct the steps of those chosen. I’m grateful for this organization and the chance to pray and discuss with other believers as God leads. May we all do it in a way that glorifies Him.
Many of the IFA members get their opinions from conservative news sources which focus only on American politics and have lately spent an inornate amount of time reporting on Trump drama. These news sources don’t have staff actually LIVING overseas who speak various languages and are knowledgeable about world affairs so major developments that impact us are not reported. If more informed IFA members hadn’t stepped in and shared with the rest of IFA through comments about the drift of the world toward World War III, the IFA audience would still be largely ignorant of how serious our situation is. (And even as we speak, there is a crisis in Niger and a developing war in the Balkans which IFA has not acknowledged.)
The conservative news sources also only tell you what you want to hear, so you miss a lot that you need to know about. For example, from the comments most are not aware that it was Donald Trump’s video disposition which was probably behind his being found guilty during the Carroll trial. It was his own comments that left the impression of guilt.
I don’t regard IFA as a reliable news source. In fact, they really aren’t a news source. They don’t have investigative reporters who are trained to report only facts and to report both sides in a non-biased manner. They seem more to scroll through conservative news sources and select those stories that they like to repost and occasionally have ‘opinion’ pieces written by their staff. They don’t double check for accuracy before they repost. They don’t look closely at how reliable the evidence is.
I think the disagreements in the IFA comments are actually necessary and good because it is in them that others become aware of what other people are thinking and of facts that they were not aware of.
I am personally increasingly concerned about comments along the lines that all leaders are imperfect. The intent behind those remarks is to justify supporting Donald Trump in spite of their being warning signs that while his imperfections are such that they don’t incapacitate him in a business environment, the same imperfections disqualify him as a world leader and may even be dangerous for a world leader to have.
Lord, have mercy on this country! Replace the leadership of the Republican party with stable and wise leaders!
It is good to pray for the Republican party leaders. They are leaders and will put out the party platform. They need to be strong individuals with a fear of the Lord. While the Republican party is political, its platform is moral. And we pray that the platform would be completely opposite the democratic platform and the moral issues made plain!
There are many “careless words” here… I cannot remember ever remember reading so many contentious opinions on IFA. God is not concerned with political aspirations and party lines. He cares little of opinion unless it founded in truth.
For nothing is concealed that won’t be revealed, and nothing hidden that won’t be made known and come to light. On the day of judgment, people will have to account for every careless word they speak. You will be acquitted by your words and you will be condemned by them as well. This is truth.

Your words are HOW we got into this position of losing our freedoms and our country! God does expect us to CHOOSE, godly leaders. It is hell on earth with wicked leaders.
Ginger, I too believe we must educate ourselves and be active in our government. I pray, make phone calls, write letters, vote and have done so for decades. This is called individual responsibility. However, IFA is supposed to be centered on prayer which (in my mind) is useless if not in agreement with God’s Word. He says to be careful with your words and in my comment that was what I referred to….the disrespectful comments. The politicians of Jesus’ day were just as corrupt as today but He did say “pay your obligations to everyone: taxes to those you owe taxes, tolls to those you owe tolls, respect to those you owe respect and honor to those you owe honor.” If Jesus had a choice, I believe He would have voted.
The democrats are coming on full force. They have the devil driving then and plenty of money to do so. However, you God, are the God of this universe, you own everything on this earth, and we believe in You . So we put our trust and faith in You alone for victory in November no matter what the democrats do. And we give you glory, honor and praise for your greatness and care for your children . We love you Lord. Amen
We have been hearing for over 4 years that our current time is a time of shaking by the Lord, bringing down what is not of Him and leaving only those things of His kingdom standing (Hebrews 11:25-29). This is happening. We ought to continue to release the Father’s will into our nation, regardless of how uncomfortable it may be.
While He does this, we ought to be careful to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God (Micah 6:8).
Praying and this is the scripture kept coming to mind:

Abortion was dealt with on the national level by the Supreme Court, and I still have an option to vote for individual congressmen based on their voting record on the border and abortion, but at this point, I am more concerned with our going into a nuclear confrontation with China, Russia, Iran and North Korean being led by an emotionally immature individual who has all the characteristics of Narcissism (I mean that literally. I am not intending to be insulting.) and up to this point has shown no understanding of just how bad our military situation is. In the light of total devastation, every other issue is on the back burner.
I don’t know who you’re talking about as emotionally immature. If you mean Joe Biden, I agree. If you mean Donald Trump, I think you’ve badly misjudged him. If you’ll recall his record, he kept us out of wars, and he has campaigned on the platform of keeping us out of foreign wars. Biden, on the other hand, has pursued war in the Ukraine to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars.
Donald Trump has a long history of twitter battles with celebrities which served no political purpose, for insulting people who disagree with him rather than ignoring them or addressing their concerns, for being his own worst enemy in court, for showing a shocking level of maturity in showing military documents to people without clearance in order to ‘discredit’ a military leader who expressed ‘concern’ about him when he could have just dealt with the ‘concern’ by addressing it verbally in an open and direct manner. The list is too long to even attempt.
If you are trying to say that the Russians didn’t invade Ukraine (which is not the same thing as ‘keeping us out of a war’) because he was president, I think you are forgetting that COVID hit at the end of his administration, and the Russian were not ready. I can’t help but notice that at no point did you credit Donald Trump with causing the Russians or Chinese to pause in their building of bases, developing weapons and adding to their armies because he didn’t, of course.
It is an open secret that the Chinese have set 2027 as the year for an invasion of Tawain. Clearly, they were not ready in 2016 to 2020.They were too busy developing hypersonic missiles, building military bases and harbors all over the world, deploying ships and submarines and building missiles silos. They intention is to dominate the world so, of course, they are on a course to confront the United States and her allies.
If one follows your logic, one would have to claim that President Obama’s diplomacy was a big success rather than a dismal failure as most historians say because he too, by your measure, kept the United States out of wars. He drew lines in the sand in Syria and Ukraine and then did nothing when they were crossed which led to further aggression by the Russians.
When you vote for someone running for the House of Representatives or the Senate, you are not only voting for the individual but also the leaders that these people will vote for. In the House, do you want Jeffries as Speaker along with Democrats as chairs of the committees or do you want Johnson and Republicans as chairs? In the Senate, do you want Schumer as Majority Leader and Democrats as chairs or do you want Republicans as leaders? One of the most important thing that a member of Congress does is choose leadership that determines what will happen there.
Why do you specifically pray for RNC candidates and officials and not for any Democrats?
There are candidates and officials on both sides that need prayer.

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think, according to His power that works in us, to Him be the glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen

This article is about major changes in the RNC, so it’s not surprising that the prayers are for the RNC. If IFS publishes an article about the DNC, then it would be appropriate to be praying for the Democrats.
The Republican party had a chance of nominating a conservative who could unite the party and the country, but the Trump base was determined to ramrod Donald Trump down the throats of all who had concerns. Because the Republican party is consolidating around Donald Trump, moderate Republicans will be forced out or main and try to turn the party around.
Where did all this Trump hatred come from? The moderate Republicans are the ones who’ve joined with the Democrats to support abortion, reckless deficit spending, open borders, and incessant war in the Ukraine. Putting a moderate Republican in office would simply continue the ungodly policies of the Biden administration. A large percentage of Republicans believe that Trump would be better for the country. What policies did Trump follow in his first term that you are so opposed to?
Moderate Republicans have NOT joined with Democrats to support abortion, reckless spending and open borders. (And, by the way, if you will remember, it was under Donald Trump that some of our biggest debt packages were passed.)
Ukraine did not choose to go to war. It was forced on them.
This is NOT 2016. This is 2024. The issues are different.
It is not Trump hatred but a realistic assessment of his capability to lead. He did fairly well in his first term because he started out with good people but by the end, his administration was in chaos. He had replaced the Heads of Defense and Homeland Security multiple times. The same with Secretary of State. His last appointees were ‘yes’ people and not particularly knowledgeable about the areas they were in charge of. Ominously, Donald Trump had a personality conflict with the Chief of Staffs (head of our military) who expressed concern about his behavior. He even had alienated his own vice president.
Nikki Haley carried 1/3 of the votes, which indicates that there is a significant percentage of the Republican party who will not vote for Donald Trump. He lost in 2020 when a small minority did not vote for him. He will surely loose in the November election.
The Republican party is not one and same thing as the church. It is a political party with political goals that have nothing to do with the teachings in the Bible.
It is unlikely that there will be unity in the Republican party because the concerns of moderate Republicans are not being addressed. They are, in fact, being ignored.
Hopefully, a third party will be formed.
What policies are the Republicans advocating that you disagree with? What policy changes would you as a moderate Republican propose? What policies are in disagreement with biblical values? A third party that divides the Republicans leads to the victory of Democrats. See the elections of 1912 and 1992 for examples. If we seek a perfect candidate, we will be disappointed.
What is so shocking here is that MAGA just supports Donald Trump, never mind that he is still forming what his policy will be on abortion, has never actually said what he would do about Ukraine, has never made it clear what he would do to make Social Security and Medicare solvent, is insisting that our military is in ‘great shape’, so, of course, no direct or plan as to how to prepare them for a confrontation with China. Is changing his policy on Tiktok as we speak….A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for a constantly changing platform.
So, obviously, a big issue with the rest of the Republican party is Donald Trump and his fitness to lead. A significant portion of Republicans are concerned that he is still insisting that he won the 2020 election, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Richard Nixon, in another close election, actually much much closer, for the sake of the country, graciously stepped aside for John F Kennedy, when he had more grounds than Donald Trump had for calling for an investigation. But Richard Nixon showed character. He didn’t want to throw the country into chaos. He was aware that the world was watching. He got a standing ovation in congress and won another election.
So, individual issues: I disagree with MAGA’s opinion on Ukraine (not sure where Donald Trump stands). The Bible takes the abandonment of a covenant between two people groups very seriously. It was one reason Saul’s family was cursed. We had an agreement with them to protect them so that they would give up their nuclear weapons (after the fall of the Soviet Union). There is nothing Christian about the lack of compassion on the part of MAGA for a people fighting for their freedom.
While not saying I disagree with your position on this issue, the Bible actually does not say anything about bearing arms. There is also nothing in the Bible about Social Security and the best way to make it solvent because it didn’t exist. Families took care of the elderly. I could go on and on.
Let this be so Lord in Jesus’ name Amen!!!!!!

Thank You for watching over the minds, mouths and ways of those appointed to positions whose decisions impact this Nation.

We thank you and honor you for caring for the United States, and its people. I pray for the safety of your people, those men and women who walk and talk for the truth. I pray for their families, may no evil fall upon them and their colleagues. Father, I pray for their knowledge of right and wrong, may their every step be for the good of the country. Lord, your plan for our country is for its people to be followers after your word, we acknowledge those people, men and women, in authority in congress, and in places of leadership, I pray they seek your knowledge and plan for the good of our land. I pray for those men and women elected to the RNC, may they seek your wisdom on matters of leadership, and lead your people according to your will. Bless our country, I pray in your son’s name, our Savior, Christ Jesus Amen.
Lord Jesus, your people are crying out for revival in America and throughout the earth. May your will be done and your plan fulfilled. , and let your children honor your Holy Word. Holy Spirit please motivate us to seek truth, read your word, pray and promote your kingdom with every word that we speak. I feel the presence of evil all around, stronger than ever before. Demon possessed leadership rules this once Christian nation.
Let the RNC follow you and indwell us so we may endure and persevere over this present evil if it be thy will Lord. In Jesus precocious name I pray. Amen

Lord I pray for those in the Republican party who are known as “RINOS”. That they would seek you instead, that they would become righteous men and women, gain wisdom and the fear of the Lord, love truth, and seek unity. That the enemy would lose his hold on them. In Jesus powerful and mighty name.
It is deeply disturbing that your idea of unity is for everyone to agree with you. And, yes, we could have had unity… if Donald Trump had not won the nomination.
I cannot in good faith support someone who is mentally unstable. Take the Tiktok issue. He said one thing while president. Back then he is recorded as saying he wanted to ban it. Now he claims that congress then wanted to ban TikTok back then, which is not true. They, in fact, voted against banning it. So, he is trying to completely rewrite history. He also recently said if he had wanted to ban it back then that he could have had what he wanted which is not true. The courts have often blocked presidential degrees especially when directed at private businesses. Now he says facebook is worse, but while China tries to use it, facebook is continuously taking down their sites, so, of course, it is not worse than a platform owned and controlled by the Chinese government.
He creates constant chaos.
I am praying for MAGA, that their eyes will be open to their contribution to the downward slide of the United States. They have for the last several years focused on news stories about Trump and his drama and are largely ignore as to what is taking place around this country.

Father, we thank you for the power of your everlasting word of truth. Anoint men and women, by Your grace and great mercy, to wholly do Your will and stand obediently on Your word. This we ask in the name of Jesus. Amen
