President Trump reinstated and expanded the pro-life Mexico City policy in January 2017 to ensure no U.S. taxpayer money for global “health” can be provided to foreign NGOs engaged in abortion.  Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, a strong pro-life advocate, is now following through on President Trump’s mandate by ensuring the Mexico City Policy is enforced to the broadest extent possible.  What does this mean?

It means that the U.S. State Department will refuse to work with any foreign non-governmental organization (NGO) engaged in the abortion business. The U.S. State Department will also refuse to fund foreign NGOs that give money to other foreign NGOs engaged in the international abortion industry. This firm stance of cutting off funds to those involved in the business of aborting children is a huge shift in the State Department’s previous policies.  Sadly, through our own government’s work in the State Department, our nation has exported the idea, technology and the practice of abortions through our government funding and programs. Through the Trump Administration and the Pompeo State Department, our government is drawing a line to now declare that family-planning programs would be “based on respect for human life, enhancement of human dignity, and strengthening of the family.”
