Lord, help us to turn to You before anyone or anything else. Allow us to let Your Holy Spirit convict us in the areas You want to see change and grow. Show us how to walk closer with You.

When it comes to coping with the stress and uncertainty of a pandemic, most Americans are turning not to God, but to TV.

That’s just one of the findings of a Pew Research Center survey released Friday (Aug. 7) on how the novel coronavirus pandemic has impacted the worship habits of Americans.

Pew surveyed 10,211 American adults online between July 13 and 19. . . .

To help them cope with the pandemic, most Americans said they are staying home to watch Netflix and chill: 89% reported that they are watching TV or movies daily or weekly. This includes 90% of all Christians, 87% of Jews and 88% of the religiously unaffiliated, according to Pew.

Many Americans (84%) also are spending time outdoors or talking by phone or video with family and friends (70%), the survey said. . . .

More than half (55%) reported praying at least weekly, followed by reading Scripture (29%), meditating (26%) and practicing yoga (8%).

Those most likely to seek comfort in spirituality at least once a week — prayer, Scripture reading and meditation — are members of historically Black Protestant churches, followed by evangelical Protestants. . . .

Months into the pandemic, some houses of worship are reopening. Americans overwhelmingly (79%) think they should be following the same social distancing rules that other businesses and organizations in their areas are, according to Pew.

That includes about three-quarters (74%) of all Christians.

And among those who attend services online or in person at least monthly, most think their houses of worship should be open with precautions (57%) to keep from spreading COVID-19, including requiring social distancing (51%) and masks (44%), restricting attendance (41%) and limiting communal singing (29%). Those numbers closely mirror what attenders say their houses of worship actually are doing.

Evangelical Protestants (82%) and Catholics (70%) were most likely to say their churches were open, with or without precautions, the survey said.

Still, among those who regularly attend services, most reported they have watched services online or on TV (72%) instead of gathering in person (33%) in the past month. . . .

The pandemic has brought out the best in some Americans.

About four in 10 adults (39%) reported they have helped a friend or neighbor by delivering groceries, running errands or helping with childcare, according to Pew. About three in 10 (29%) said they had volunteered or made a donation through a nonreligious organization and 18%, through a religious organization.

Broken out by religious affiliation, Black Protestants (48%) and Hispanic Catholics (43%) were most likely to support someone directly. Jews (45%) and agnostics (41%) were most likely to support a nonreligious organization, and evangelical (32%) and Black (31%) Protestants were most likely to support a religious organization, according to survey data.

Clergy are speaking out on the pandemic and protests, not politicians.

Between a pandemic, protests against systemic racism and police brutality and a looming presidential election, Americans have had plenty to talk about in the last month.

Most (76%) who have attended or watched a religious service in that time reported they have heard sermons about the importance of taking steps to limit the spread of the coronavirus, according to Pew.

More have heard sermons expressing support (41%) for Black Lives Matter protests than opposition (25%) to the protests.

And while 40% have heard messages about the importance of voting, protesting and other forms of political engagement, few have heard President Donald Trump or his challenger, former Vice President Joe Biden, called out by name.

Just 9% heard sermons supporting Trump and 7% opposing him, while 6% heard sermons supporting Biden and 4% opposing him. . . .

More than half (54%) of Americans who regularly attend services say they are giving the same amount of money to their houses of worship.

About one in five (18%) are giving less, though, and just 8% said they are giving more, according to Pew data.

Holy God, Only You are worthy of our praise and adoration. We live in a time when people have lost their way. May true believers find their rest and solace at Your feet. May the entertainment so many watch become distasteful to them. May they be offended by the language and the immorality and the violence. May Your Holy Spirit move mightily in the hearts of believers drawing them to their knees. Please have mercy upon us. Please fill believers with love for Your Word and for You. May we long for Your courts. In Jesus name, Amen

If we, as Christians, cannot withstand the current “pre” birth pangs and find comfort in anything/anyone other than the Living Word- Jesus Christ, His written Word- the Scripture; and fellowship with the Holy Spirt & the Body of Christ… how do we intend to withstand the coming persecution and deception?? Arise Church- read Jesus’ warnings in Matthew 24-25 and sense the urgency of such a time as this!!!!

Not sure if the author is aware of this:

About
Netflix and Chill, often seen written as ”I thought you said Netflix and Chill!” or “20 Minutes into Netflix and Chill”, is Internet slang for inviting someone over to one’s home for sexual purposes. The phrase is often used in image macros and as a hashtag on social media.

I pray that Christians will wake up and turn to God instead of TV and social media. We really need to be praying to God more than ever before. It’s unfortunate that we have allowed television and the tech world become our God. Not only that, we Christians need to stop being silent about what’s going on around us and start speaking up and even taking action. We are losing our country and everything it stands for. When we remain silent there are serious consequences. Wake up fellow Christians, we have a country to save!!!

Who Among You for G-d will Stand?”

Running across Mount Carmel’s ridge With burning flame in hand,
Is found the spirit of Elijah still crying: “Who among you for G-d will stand?”
“How long will you halt between two opinions? Two masters you cannot serve!
Return unto G-d, the G-d of your fathers; Full honor is what He deserves!”
What manner of man so bold, so fierce, Who shunned all doubt and fear,
Would stand in the face of lawlessness, Pronouncing G-d’s judgment clear!
O’ blazing Fire of Elijah’s torch, Rekindle our spirits once more!
Constrain us to follow the L-rd our G-d And to honor His Name evermore!
Honor Him, ye chosen peoples; Arise in His righteousness!
Return, wayward sons, to the G-d of your fathers, That you and your seed might be blessed!

What the Government set out to do sadly they succeeded. Closed the Churches violating our 1st Amendment right to worship, telling Christian’s they can’t sing and the churches caved to a made up weaponized virus. They fear covid more than God. These scriptures is being realized.
1 Tim. 4:1-5
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. 4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; 5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
Proverbs 29:25
The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.

Christian’s are safe sheltering in place. The fear of man has sadly succeeded. Thank God some Pastor’s did not bow or cave to the fear, they kept their Churches open. Wal-Mask has stayed open, weed shops, liquor stores, casinos and even abortion clinics have continued to murder the innocent.
For any Christian who support the demoncratic party may God deal with you. They are the party who booed God off of their platform and they expressly went against God’s Word! As you sit and watch TV, remember the scripture Behold I come quickly and My reward is with me. Ponder thsi scripture as netflix has become your god
“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.Rev.22:12

Prayerlessness is a sin of which many of us need to repent. No wonder we’re in the terrible mess we’re in. Without prayer we cannot be salt or light. God have mercy on us. Thank God for Christians who pray fervent, effectual prayers.

You can get a booklet called PRAYING FOR OUR NATION. It’s harvest house and about $6.00. It goes through everything you need to pray with giving a prayer , scriptures you can look up and a quote. Amazing how easy it is the easiest way to cover everything.

Not hard to believe. That is why the world can publish all kinds of rhetoric and foolishness. The Church is not paying attention. We have been given the Word of God to live by. We have lost our saltiness and our candles are dim. We are paying too much attention to the ‘stories coming out of the world’ than the Bible which gives life eternal. In trying to be ‘politically correct’, no one wants to call it what it is: SIN. The Church doesn’t even want to mention that three-letter-word that is killing mankind. All such stories can gain much attention, but when it comes to God’s Word-SILENCE. God help us!

Dear Lord, please forgive our country of the things that Jacquelyn has pointed out and help us to repent and place you at the top of our priorities all over America, so that we please You and bring You glory and so we can remain a free country. In Jesus name I ask. Amen.

I am very busy with my duties with my church and running a prayer channel & a prayer chain. I am telling you because every-time I go to download a prayer directive you make me submit my information over. I am sorry but I don’t have time to do all of the resubmitting. I prefer corporate direction but I do not have the time therefore I will not be requesting downloads anymore and will pray in the direction I feel the Lord directing.

There are Christian movies on the internet, “Pure Flix” has movies that are faith based, it is a subscription service. But the movies are generally faith based. There are many good movies at Pure Flix.

One of those eye opening moments: I was facing a crisis years ago just working up to major anxiety when the Lord said, “am I not bigger than that situation?” Now I believe when I pray and the Lord assures me of change, I Know its done.
When I read this article I recalled a story about a young child asking, “is Superman bigger, stronger than Jesus?” We have even more to account for now when what percentage of the population has eliminated whole sections of our Biblical foundation that says, “I give You Authority to tread on scorpions. I give You Authority to heal the sick…” There isn’t anything about letting others assume your authority to negate our message of giving and taking the Whole Truth to the world. Amen

Prayers for believers and followers of Christ to turn from the world and to God; the only one with power who truly loves, provides and protects our souls against the evil we see coming against us. Prayers that we notice and reach out to those who are lost and don’t know Jesus and that we only speak God’s truth which gives forgiveness, peace and salvation. In Jesus’s name we pray. Amen!

I have been more alone with the word and less on tv than ever. We have to turn to the word and pray and seek Gods direction.

Heavenly Father, I pray for the Christians in our nation who are spending more time watching TV/movies than praying. These stats in this article lends credence to the fact that we Christians need a great awakening in our land as never before. Oh, God our Father, please send a mighty revival within the hearts of all of us who call ourselves followers of You and Your Word, “Break up the fallow Ground” (Hosea 10:12); and also Hosea writes in 7:8, “Ephraim has mixed himself among the peoples; Ephraim is a cake not turned (half-baked). Forgive us of our partial and limited commitment to You and Your purposes for us in our world. Cause us to bow our hearts and faces before you in prayer until we are encompassed by a deep sense of Your presence that will cause each of us to bow before You each day with a broken and contrite spirit. This I pray in the name of Jesus, AMEN!
