The following is an excerpt from IFA’s new special report, “Islam and the Spirit Behind It.”
Rage, Terror, and Jihad
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places (Ephesians 6:12).
Post a prayer for your state!
The Islamic fundamentalist terrorist group Hamas attacked Israel by air and land. Israel declared war against Hamas and the world responded. The United States denounced the terrorism and called on the UN to stand with Israel.
In London, Sydney, and Times Square, pro-Palestinian protesters demonstrated, shouting terrible things like “Death to Jews.” Then, the founder of Hamas called for jihad and a day of rage.
Why is there a spirit of hatred among Muslims for Jews? Why, in light of this hatred, do prominent people treat the terrorist group Hamas as equal to the state of Israel? What is jihad? How can we pray? This special report will attempt to answer these questions and offer prayer direction.
What Is Jihad?
Jihad means both “a struggle or fight against the enemies of Islam” and “the spiritual struggle within oneself against sin.” This second definition calls to mind these verses from Hebrews: … looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls. You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin (Hebrews 12:2–4). From these verses, we glean a few prayer points:
- We pray that Muslims would look to Jesus as the author and finisher of faith and see clearly that He died on the cross and rose again.
- We pray for people to bring the gospel to Muslims and not become weary or discouraged.
- We pray that the only jihad people find would be the victory over sin that comes through receiving the completed work of Jesus on the cross.

Father, I thank You for giving the people who are under the control of this spirit of Jihad to have encounters with You. Let them dream dreams of Jesus. May the fear of the Lord come upon them so they will repent and know that You alone are God; and they will know that You are the only One that they can turn to for their salvation.
I urge you to watch the CBN interview of Afshin Avid. ..the FORMER Hezboallah fighter who shares his encounter with Jesus. It is linked on https://ifapray.org/blog/
The Truth Will Set You Free
31So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, 32and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” 33They answered him, “We are offspring of Abraham and have never been enslaved to anyone. How is it that you say, ‘You will become free’?”
John 8: 34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin. 35 The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. 36 So IF THE SON SETS YOU FREE, YOU WILL BE FREE INDEED. 37 I know that you are offspring of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me because my word finds no place in you. 38 I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.”
Dear Heavenly Father, Your people are praying for Israel. I am praying for the release of the hostages as well as a release from the power being exerted to eliminate Israel and the call to eliminate Jews worldwide. I am also praying for the release of the terrorists, who are called by many names: Hamas, Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda, ISIS, and the young ones who are being groomed to hate and kill. Thank You for saving Afshin, who now truly worships You, the God of Abraham. Thank You Jesus, for telling Afshin, You are the Truth, the Way, and the Life. Thank You for this encounter which enabled the deep sorrow that precedes salvation. I praise You Father, Son and Holy Spirit over Hebrew, Arab and Gentile. I praise You Father, Son and Holy Spirit, The Triune God for MORE release. May You open and close, bind and loose…liberate the hostages in Gaza and the hostages of the enemy….set them free Jesus. Amen
Oh Father we do pray for an end of the violence and protection over your people. Thank you that as your ekklesia has the authority in Jesus to stop the evil spirits that are causing the violence. Thank you Jesus for your victory in this war. May many Muslims and Jews come to you for salvation.
