With a 50-50 split in the United States Senate, there are two things Joe Biden cannot afford: Democrat defections and a filibuster. Senate rules require 60 votes for cloture to move on legislation, and recent years have turned the filibuster into an obstruction tactic by the minority party.
Senator Joe Manchin, a moderate Democrat from the very red state of West Virginia, has found himself in a very powerful position. His support or opposition to key legislation could make or break Joe Biden’s agenda in Congress. . . .
So, it’s hard not to raise an eyebrow at the fact that Joe Biden has nominated Gayle Conelly Manchin, Senator Joe Manchin’s wife, to co-chair the Appalachian Regional Commission, which is an economic development partnership with 13 states designed “to innovate, partner, and invest to build community capacity and strengthen economic growth in Appalachia.” . . .
This nomination comes at a time when Manchin has publicly expressed opposition to extreme gun control, a $15 minimum wage, and eliminating the filibuster. . . .
It is not unprecedented for the spouse of a member of Congress to serve in an executive branch position. For example, Senator Mitch McConnell’s wife Elaine Chao served as transportation secretary under President Trump and labor secretary under President George W. Bush.
But it’s hard to ignore the special circumstances surrounding Mrs. Manchin’s nomination that suggests, regardless of her qualifications, an ulterior motive by Joe Biden, or whoever it is making his decisions for him.

God, please lift up Senator Manchin and his wife, who both appear to be a target of manipulation to support an agenda. Please provide a hedge of protection around them and all evil that surrounds us in our country and world. I ask the Holy Spirit, living in each of the Manchin’s hearts, to fill them both with wisdom and humility to make Godly choices. Guide Senator Manchin to vote as Jesus would have done. Thank you for loving us all equally no matter what our political view might be and please forgive us of our sins. Help us all to make good choices.

This should not be a surprise to anyone! Senator Manchin realizes the exact “position” he is in and how to use it to his advantage! And….he will. We will see where Senator Manchin and his wife really stand soon. If he makes the wrong decision, I believe West Virginia will vote against him next election. However, I believe Sen. Manchin, by then, will have another position. We are seeing deception from those that we thought would be “loyal” to our country. Our hope, our trust, is in the Lord. Senator Manchin seems to actually think before he votes, not just follow party lines, I admire that. Lord keep his eyes on you and have wisdom and discernment as he is a leader.
Stopping to pray Lord for Mr. Manchin and his wife, precious Lord please prick both of their hearts softening them to hear your voice and stand for what is right even to the point of Mrs. Manchin losing her nomination. By offering his wife a plum position, it might be a quid pro quo in exchange for Manchin’s voting to drop the filibuster. Voting against the filibuster would enable him to then technically vote “no” on HR1 and HR5 to save face, but deliver the vote for the Democrats via the filibuster removal.
Please pray and contact the Senator through his web site to let him know you appreciate his courage in not going along with the things he knew were wrong in the past. And that you are praying for him now as he is the gatekeeper against the Socialist party taking The United States of America.
