I Prayed have prayed
Lord God, help us lift up holy hands in prayer. Thank you for the intercessors who are crying out to you day and night.
Reading Time: 3 minutes

A few nights ago, I had a dream that I feel is significant in light of the crisis in Israel. I was in a church with a group of people looking out the window. A very futuristic military plane was flying overhead. It was yellow on one side and black on the other. It could maneuver very quickly and fly in any direction. The plane started coming toward the windows of the church then would swoop up at the last minute. I told the Lord that He needed to hold His hand up to protect the church and He said, “You hold your hands up.”

I felt like it was a call to pray and praise with the authority we are given in Christ. I’ve been reading about Joshua, as he conquered the Promised Land.

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Hold out toward Ai the javelin that is in your hand, for into your hand I will deliver the city.” So Joshua held out toward the city the javelin that was in his hand. As soon as he did this, the men in the ambush rose quickly from their position and rushed forward. They entered the city and captured it and quickly set it on fire.

The men of Ai looked back and saw the smoke of the city rising up into the sky, but they had no chance to escape in any direction; the Israelites who had been fleeing toward the wilderness had turned back against their pursuers. For when Joshua and all Israel saw that the ambush had taken the city and that smoke was going up from it, they turned around and attacked the men of Ai. Those in the ambush also came out of the city against them, so that they were caught in the middle, with Israelites on both sides. Israel cut them down, leaving them neither survivors nor fugitives. (Josh 8:18-22)

God gave Joshua courage and authority to win the battle, and after it was won Joshua reminded the people of every word spoken by the Lord to the Israelites in the wilderness.

Afterward, Joshua read all the words of the law—the blessings and the curses—just as it is written in the Book of the Law. There was not a word of all that Moses had commanded that Joshua did not read to the whole assembly of Israel, including the women and children, and the foreigners who lived among them. (Josh 8:34-35)

This is a time to raise our hands, stand together as the Church in our God given authority to fight the battles, and remember the promises of Scripture.

Since prayer is at the bottom of all this, what I want mostly is for men to pray—not shaking angry fists at enemies but raising holy hands to God. And I want women to get in there with the men in humility before God, not primping before a mirror or chasing the latest fashions but doing something beautiful for God and becoming beautiful doing it. (1 Tm 2:8-9)

This is what Intercessors for America is all about. We were founded in response to Derek Prince’s book, Shaping History through Prayer and Fasting. “Christians have altered the course of history and governments by utilizing biblical methods of prayer and fasting. In this [book], you will discover simple yet powerful tools for impacting the destinies of nations.” We highly recommend this book to understand our call to intercession. How will you lift up your hands toward the Lord for victory?

Wouldn’t it be so amazing if, just like in Joshua 8:34-35…the battle was won in the US and the Word of God was read to every man, woman and child!!!

This was interesting since I also had a very memorable dream some 50 years ago. I was standing near the top of a very tall building. The building had big glass windows and two large black birds came rushing toward the windows, one after the other. When they crashed into the windows I could see the swelling mass of people on the ground running in all directions in terror. This dream was so memorable that I wrote it down and remembered it all the years since I was in college. It did not occur to me until I read this that I could hold up my hand and pray in Jesus name to stop the attack. Thanks for sharing this dream.

Standing in obedience to what God tells us to do and the past examples God has given us is where the body of Christ must be.
Sadly, I think 2 things have slowly crept into the body of Christ over the last 3+ decades. [1] We began to act , believe & carry on, without realizing it, how we often “felt” in our response to God (which has little to do with faith). [2] We skipped over, ignored and/or did not take, at face value – exactly what God has commanded or imparted to us to do.
It has been impressed upon me much in the last year how our God is really a God of details – from small to large. As His people, we often miss in the redundant passages of His word what He is telling us to do. The examples are there in His word. The examples He gave to us, through others, are often His instructions “this is what you need to do”. God is often mysterious but He really isn’t complicated.

This is so encouraging! I love the book of Joshua! Several times, the Lord had to assure Joshua of the victory. Holding up the spear as you wrote, I also think about Joshua 10 where the five kings of the Amorites gathered to destroy the Gibeonites. Because of their covenant Joshua was bound to help them. The Lord told Joshua, “Do not be afraid of them, for today I have given them into your hands.”
Joshua then does the impossible publicly decrees before the people “sun stand still” and it does. Later in the chapter they capture the 5 kings of the Amorites, Joshua tells his men to put their feet in the neck of the king’s. It’s like Joshua’s telling them, you do it. That is a picture of authority over the enemy.
Joshua’s greatest battles were won when we boldly walked in his God given authority.
I pray we all take your dream and message to heart. It greatly blessed me. Thank you for sharing Tracy!

Lord God,
We lift up your your mighty Rod, Yeshua, up over Israel today. We ask for a deliverance and great move of the Holy Spirit! Fight for Israel for your name sake and the glory of Yeshua. Let a great harvest of souls come to you as a result of this attack of the enemy. Rise up prayer warriors today and workers in the land to help those who have lost homes lives and been injured. Send your angels to do battle and annihilate any rocket coming at them. Bring peace and blessing to Israel and Jerusalem oh Lord. Give Benjamin Netanyehu wisdom and guidance and all the military strategists. Thank you dear Lord! Our God reigns victorious!!!!! Amen!
