William Robert Lee (5/22/1948-12/31/2019)

IFA Staff member Bill Lee was injured in a car accident on November 26, 2019, two days before Thanksgiving. He passed away on New Year’s Eve. We want our intercessors to know about this remarkable man whose loss we mourn as individuals and as a staff.

Joshua 24:14 characterized Bill’s life. “Now therefore, fear the Lord, and serve Him in sincerity and in truth.” Bill faithfully served IFA for more than 30 years, beginning in 1988, though his widespread contributions to and through IFA began much earlier. Bill’s roots go all the back to IFA’s origins. He knew Derek Prince, an IFA founder, and in God’s perfect providence, Bill’s connection with IFA in Loudoun County was a “marriage planned in heaven.”

Bill first connected with IFA by doing video work at IFA’s first Virginia conference. He was already an ambassador for Christ. He had influence for unity among churches and pastors and was widely respected. He quickly became an ambassador for IFA’s impact in Northern Virginia. In his humility, he never sought promotion or a leadership position, yet he traveled in the company of leaders, including a pathway directly to Capitol Hill. His technical video skills opened doors of service to other ministries in the metro DC region, but he never lost sight of his calling and commitment to IFA.

He became IFA’s hands-on technician, and at the same time became God’s instrument in preparing the prayer letter for mailing (now called The Connecter). He also produced many other resources that have strengthened IFA members all across the United States. A particular passion of his was Pray with Others, which we added in 2019. He loved hearing and agreeing with the heartfelt prayers of intercessors.

It’s important to note that Bill didn’t become an intercessor by joining his talents to IFA. He was already a man of prayer. His heart was for people, and when the staff met for prayer, he prayed with both passion and compassion.

Bill’s work ethic was outstanding and notable. He was dedicated to his work, upright in character and conduct, and trustworthy in keeping his word. He was flexible, cooperative, and loyal when taking on many different responsibilities under several leaders in IFA’s ministry.

Bill was gracious and patient under pressure. He remained calm, cheerful, and pleasant, and worked diligently to make necessary changes. He was a blessing to work with in many ways. One thing Bill did every day was to ask every staff member if we wanted him to pick up something for us when he went out to lunch. He never failed in this kindness and this seemingly small thing encouraged everyone of us significantly.

We cannot, of course, measure the value or the ongoing influence of any human life, but we can know what those lives have meant and mean to us personally.

We give thanks for the contributions of Bill Lee’s life and that in God’s grace and providence we were privileged to share in a life given over to God. We will miss Bill, but we will continue to enjoy the blessings his life and his gifts brought to us.

Pastor Bill Lee, great friend who always wanted what was best for his friends. He baptised me, he encouraged me to go with him on a mission trip to Colombia in 1996, he had me aim higher at Christ Fellowship Church, invited me to Cleveland to celebrate IFA’s 25th year , to Washington DC on the National Day of Prayer, he never grew tired of being a Disciple of Christ.
I am going to miss Bill Lee, but I know where he is and will be seeking him out someday not too far off. RIP my friend.

That was a beautiful tribute. It sounds like Bill was an extraordinary man of character and integrity. We will never know the full impact of his life here on earth until we reach heaven but I am sure it will go on for a very long time. I pray that IFA staff and Bill’s family feel Gods comfort during this difficult time.

Bill Lee was a wonderful friend to me. He exemplified servant leadership better than just about any person I am acquainted with. He gave time, energy and care freely to his beloved family and to others in many ways. In his youth Bill was a camera man in the early days of The 700 Club television ministry. During his long career Bill was a successful high school band director. He and his wife directed a Christian drug rehab ministry for young mothers for several years. They were also led of the Lord to found a ministry to teens in local high schools, which continued about 12 years. Bill served the Lord as the pastor of a local church for over 20 years. He played a number of different instruments, including the trombone; and late in life prayerfully composed music for some of the people he knew. There’s too much to list…. Oh, and he wholeheartedly and faithfully served with Intercessors for America. We thank God so much for Bill. We miss him.

Did he also write the commentary at the bottom of most emails? You haven’t mentioned it. Sorry for not already knowing.

No, Bill’s area of expertise was in sound and video, but he did help layout our Connector each month, as well as upload the prayers of people on our Pray with Others tool on our website. He said he was so blessed to listen to the prayers as he vetted them and uploaded them for use by the body.

Praying 2 Corinthians 1:3-7 for Bill Lee’s family and friends:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. 5 For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. 6 Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation. 7 And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation.

“Only one life will soon be past – only what’s done for Christ will last.” To me, to live is Christ… In view of our dear brother’s fulfilled life, this should be the goal and ambition of we who remain. “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 3:14

How very sad that a car accident ended this wonderful man’s service to The LORD on earth. I ask you Father GOD to put a hedge of protection around his family and around IFA and bring your soothing comfort to those who are suffering the pain of loss. How blessed we are to know that he is not hurting anymore, but rejoicing with You in Heaven. Thanks be to GOD!

Father,
Thank you for this life committed to You, a soldier of the cross, a true ambassador fir You. Comfort his family and friends and let their precious memories of him sustain them in the days to come. I pray his legacy will be passed to future generations in his family and even now you will raise up those in his family to take up this mantle of intercession for Your glory. May we all continue to fight the good fight of faith as faithfully as this servant.

Father, we bless you for sharing this humble & hardworking man of God with IFA & other Ministries. Although Bill Lee cannot he replaced, we pray that you will bring along side another well suited to the job that dear Bill performed. And Father bless those who mourn, more especially Bill’s family, & others who worked closely with Bill (in various ministries). Comfort them as only your Holy Spirit can as they (his wife, children, other family members, friends, & associates) deal with the void left by Bill until they meet again. Hallelujah that we have that hope of knowing that no departed loved one who knows You is lost because we know where they are! We praise your holy name! IJN, Amen.

Jesus, our Hope! Give Bill’s family hope and thanksgiving for the gift Bill was and is by his legacy. May the pain of sorrow miraculously turn into a sword of light for them. Give them a voice they have not had to proclaim No King but Jesus.

I’m thankful and I praise You Lord that You raised up this life to sow into this ministry decades ago to help make it the blessing in building Your kingdom that it is today.
Thank You Lord for continuing to build upon the foundation of our Pilgrim forefathers by preserving a remnant here in America — such as Bill — that shares the heart’s desire of the Pilgrims: “Last and not least, they cherished a great hope and inward zeal of laying good foundations, or at least of making some way towards it, for the propagation and advance of the gospel of the kingdom of Christ in remote parts of the world, even though they should be but stepping stones to others in the performance of so great a work.” William Bradford, Of Plimoth Plantation
Thank You for everything Bill sowed into Your kingdom and may his efforts continue to bear fruit for many générations.
“The memory of the righteous [person] is a [source of] blessing,” Proverbs 10:7
