I Prayed have prayed
Father, deliver us from men who have crept in unnoticed; who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude 1:4
Reading Time: 4 minutes

Many of us are surprised by the riots and anarchy spreading across our nation. Others have been planning for this day for years. This article by Nancy Huff is eye-opening–our public schools have been grooming students to embrace radical ideas and radical means of achieving them.–Editor’s Note.

In education, a Change Agent is someone who assists students in the process of shifting attitudes, values, and actions to address social problems. The term appeared in education 50 years ago and referred to adults inside or outside of a school who re-educate children on issues such as morality, sexuality, and religious views. Today Change Agents operate freely in our public schools as teachers, counselors, and administrators who embrace a radical, leftist agenda. As those who teach our children, they inspire students to disregard authority, riot, and destroy other people’s property for the cause of social justice. How did they infiltrate our classrooms, and in so doing, feel comfortable sharing their attitudes with students? How do we pray to expose and stop their influence over the students of this nation?

Most of the radical teachers are home-grown. They are the products of America’s educational systems. The typical teacher received a degree from one of our secular colleges or universities and came to the teaching profession already armed with a left-of-center political bias. During teacher orientation, a local labor union representative enlists new teachers in the National Education Association (NEA). If they teach in a non-right-to-work state, they must belong to the NEA. At this point, the teacher enters the Change Agent vortex.

As a leftist organization, the NEA wants the children in our public schools to adopt their liberal thinking on all social issues, including sexuality from K-12, climate change, and racial inequality. Early on, the NEA realized that to instigate social chaos in a well-organized and smooth-running society, they would have to start not with the school children, but with their teachers.

In 2019, public schools hired over 260,000 new teachers, of this group, the NEA successfully enlisted 75% in their labor union. Once a member, the NEA provides training for anyone who wishes to become an activist. To best decide the members they will sponsor and encourage,  NEA officials take note of those who attend the national NEA convention, those who take classes in political activism at conferences, those who participate in seminars, summer institutes, and specialized training sessions. They look for teachers who embrace liberal causes: climate change, sexual orientation, K-12 sexual training, civil rights, etc. And most importantly, they pay particular attention to teachers who engage in community activism. These are their community organizers.

This massive push for social activism began in our schools, as most new programs do, through educational research that eventually turns up in our school curriculum and through influencing organizations like the NEA.

At IFA, we love to share articles that explain what’s going on behind the news, and analysis of how and why things are happening. Our Special Reports, found under the Resources tab on our website, dive deep into the background of many key topics. They are all free downloads for you to pray through.

As it turned out, our government provided the money for the foundation of how to train Change Agents that would begin in our public schools. In 1967, our nation faced a severe teacher shortage. Congress passed the Education and Professions Development Act, allocating grant money to help facilitate the hiring and training of new teachers. The U.S. Office of Education under the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare (a forerunner of the U.S. Department of Education) managed the grants. One of the awards went to two professors at the University of Michigan, Ronald G. and Mary C. Havelock. As socialists, the Havelocks chose not to research new teacher training. Instead, the group researched how to train teachers as Change Agents in America’s public schools. Their work, A Change Agent’s Guide to Innovation in Education, exceeded their expectations. They referenced schools as experimental laboratories and use terms such as operant conditioning and social reform. Their later work, Training for Change Agents, addresses how teachers can extinguish existing attitudes, knowledge, and behavior.

The Havelocks, as anti-war activists, were the first to advocate training several types of advocate-organizer-agitators, which they called ADORAG for short. A separate research paper submitted while they were at the University of Michigan states their objective clearly: “Training for Social Agents, Institute for Social Research,  A model of change-through-crisis will be presented…which utilizes disruption in educational systems as an important input variable.”

As contemporaries who held common social action beliefs and worked together, the Havelocks and Saul Alinsky both had significant influence at the NEA. At one point, Alinsky spoke to a top-level group of educators at an NEA convention. The NEA endorsed his book, Rules for Radicals, as recommended reading, but later deleted the web page that gave the book’s recommendation. Rules for Radicals is a manual for conducting strikes, riots, and mayhem to achieve a specific social change.

John Lloyd, who served as an NEA UniServ director and the executive director of the Kansas NEA affiliate, said, “To understand the NEA – to understand the union – read Saul Alinsky. If you read ‘Rules for Radicals,’ you will understand the NEA more profoundly than reading anything else. Because the whole organization was modeled on that kind of behavior which was really begun when NEA used Saul Alinsky as a consultant to train their own staff.

Although the beginning of the NEA’s plunge into radicalism began over 50 years ago, the Havelocks and Saul Alinsky still hold significant influence over the direction of their goals and the activities in which they engage daily. The NEA continues to use their tactics in changing public school teachers into social activists in our classrooms. We should not be surprised when our students turn to the destruction of property as a means to achieve their social justice goals.

This article offends me to the depths is my soul. I am a public school teacher because that’s where God put me. You paint us all with the same brush and this is just another “blame the public school for everything” article. Your article implies that if you choose to teach in a public school you are a blinded sheep who just believes and does everything the NEA suggests. The only advocacy I’ve ever been asked to do is write letters to my legislators regarding ridiculous laws they pass about education. Oh, and to beg them to stop giving public funds to private schools and charter schools which are not held to the same academic standards public schools are. I ask them not to do that because it’s not fair. If I read your bio carefully, you taught for 12 years and left education 15 years ago. Maybe you should have stayed and worked to fix the problems instead of bailing and telling everyone what horrible people we are. When all else fails, blame the teachers.

I apologize for my abruptness and my remarks if they are offensive. I shouldn’t have responded from my phone when I first read the article. I should have waited or just let it go. Our job is too hard to be blamed for this too. We don’t have time to teach kids how to riot, we’re too busy teaching them to READ.

I wonder if President Trump knows about this and if he is able to use his influence to make changes on the highest educational levels. I appreciate the prayers that have been aimed at this problem.

Heavenly Father, in the Name of Your Precious Son, Jesus. Thank you for IFA and all who come together to consider and pray over people, government, various institutions. I am comforted by the prayers and comments I read as I scroll down the page after reading various information on specific topics written. I pray today for all involved in IFA that you will bless and strengthen them spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally as they “fight the good fight of faith” knowing You hear our prayers and pleas, and those prayers make a difference for good and for healing. Thank you for the encouragement I receive through IFA. I need the support IFA provides through Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus who are bold to face the challenges before us and our country, and then pray. I am thankful for the article on NEA. I need to be educated with truth. I am so sorry for the pain and injustice caused by prejudice. My prayer is that Your Word, That there is, “no nationality, no skin color, no Roman, Greek, etc., but we are One in Christ Jesus”, and that truth will be blazoned across the sky, and move into the hearts of all people everywhere. Thank You, Heavenly Father, for hearing my prayer. Amen.

Thank you, Joan, for your comment. I am in total agreement with you. I too am grateful for the team at IFA. It’s a blessing to be able to write for IFA, as they have the heartbeat of prayer for change in our nation like no other organization. Your comments on the IFA ministry are “spot on” and appreciated.

Praise God for Intercessors for America and this article by Nancy Huff. As a former educator duped into thinking the NEA was a professional obligation and having money for “dues” taken out each year I was blind like all those who donate to an ungodly group. Not until Jesus opened my eyes to be saved was I made aware of my wrong thinking about education, the NEA, and many other things I had been taught to believe in the college classes (now university).
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow when He reveals our sinfulness, we confess our sins and He forgives us and cleanses us from ALL unrighteousness.
Prayer for NEA to do likewise! Matthew 18:6“But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”

I encourage you all with school-aged kids, while you pray and work towards change within the school system, remove your kids and homeschool. The ability to lead your own children in Truth is key!! Praying for the unveiling of truth for all and for parents to say no to the indoctrination of schools.

Yes! These teachers are priming children to become victims of cults such as the Sunrise Movement. Millie Weaver did a 2-year undercover operation to infiltrate this movement and just broke the story today. Check it out on her website millenialmillie. Frightening. Get your kids out of public school and leftist private schools. Home school if you can or put them in a bible-based school.

While I understand the premise that the NEA influenced shaping the educational agenda over the past decades, I was disappointed at how widely you portrayed teachers in public education as having embraced this plan. I taught in the public school system from 1969-2000 and chose to join the nonunion teacher’s group in my right- to- work state once I saw I didn’t agree with all NEA’s policies. There were many Christian teachers I worked alongside who sought to impart Christian values through their example and their prayers within public education. I hope you’ll continue to show others the importance of praying that God’s be exalted in our school and land. And also pray for those who seek to make a difference within the system.

Thank you, Betsy, for your comment. I apologize, I didn’t mean to make it sound like every teacher became an activist. My point was that once someone joins the NEA they have the option to go to greater levels of involvement and those are the ones who become the sincere “Change Agents” in public education. It’s a relatively small but powerful number. I also taught a lot of years in public school and would not consider myself a social activist. I do realize that the NEA has changed dramatically over the past 7-10 years in the extent of their activism. Bless you for your years in the classroom.

I went to a liberal California State University and graduated in 1993. My faith was severely tested, but I was 40-43 at the time, and much stronger in my faith than I was at 19. I had to stand up against many if my professors, and to their credit, though they ignored me and moved on, they still gave me my earned grades. I could see much liberal bias even 27 years ago. I can’t even imagine how bad it is now. Much prayer is needed.

I don’t know where all this information is coming from. As a black female, born in 1945, and reared in a small town on the Chesapeake Bay, I can truly say that ‘Jesus makes the difference.’ Until ninth grade, The schools that I attended were all black. We were taught the Bible and were required to learn and expound on Verses. We were taught to respect God, our elders, and our peers. In 1963, I, along with several others were ‘selected’ to attend an all white high school. That was hell on earth. We were treated by the students there as the very scum of the earth. We never did anything to provoke their actions. Were they ‘taught’ this in their public school? Children would walk up to the classroom where we were, open the door, and start calling us out of our names. The teachers never said a word. Whoever said “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me” is believing a lie straight from hell. Words do hurt. Our words do have power to build up or to tear down. I must admit that at the age of 74, I find it very difficult to tell my grandsons that if they live according to the law, work hard, and become model citizens, all will go well with them. They don’t understand hoses turned on children, dogs turned loose on them, being hit by policemen, just because they wanted to attend a school. Some of these same people that treated us badly in school have now become some of those who are making the laws that we have to live by.
Contrary to popular belief, all blacks are not bad and all whites are not good. Jesus Christ makes the difference. BLESS HIS HOLY NAME!!!. AMEN!!!

    Precious Sister,

I am white, and I never treated anyone of another race like that. I am sorry for the rottenness in some people’s hearts, and for what you suffered. There is racism in the hearts of people, of all races, I have heard it. I have had people do horrible things to me, not always about race, but because their hearts were wicked. I would not go through childhood again for all the gold in the world. People are mean. It confirms the gospel, that Jesus died because we are all sinners. I do think things have gotten better. I see kids of all races going to school together, dating, playing sports together, marrying. People of all races work together, are neighbors. I pray racism will stop. I pray for a great awakening, repentance in the heart of people and the fear of God in the hearts of people. But, evil will always exist, until Christ comes and sets up his kingdom. I hope and pray God heals your heart from the memories of those experiences, and that you can forgive them. Words do hurt. But our God is bigger than those words and he can heal those wounds. He has healed many of mine. God bless you precious sister in Christ. Yes, not all blacks are bad, not all white are good. There is good and bad in all races. Violences and cruelty is wrong in all instances, for all people. I pray you and I can be the light, the love, the grace and the forgiveness of Christ to everyone we meet.

On behalf of the Christian culture I repent that you were allowed to be abused and no one stood up for what you suffered. I ask forgiveness Jacquelyn. You are a child of God worthy of respect, honor and dignity. This does not give us any “pass” for what you endured but it can relieve your pain because our enemy hates us both and he works to stir up hate and bitterness. If I was your neighbor I would ask to wash your feet, put on healing oil and massage it into you feet. I pray a ministering angel will perform this in my absence maybe while you sleep and that your spirit will be healed in Jesus Name. Sending love from my home to yours and I pray we can meet in heaven, fully healed.

Dear Jacquelyn, I cannot thank you enough for your comment. I especially thank you for your telling us about your early public school experience. I’m very sorry for your experience in the all white high school. You didn’t ask for that treatment and it should never happen to you or anyone else. We are about the same age and the types of incidents you describe make me want to dig back into the history of public school and find the root causes of what happened. Why weren’t the kids in your new school students grounded in the Bible like you were? My heart is to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit to develop a prayer strategy that will engulf all our students. My heart goes out to you as I hear your cry for your grandsons to protect them, and bring them into the fullness of what God has for them. Our schools, all of them, need effective prayer. I pray God bless you and keep you strong in Him! Again, thank you for sharing.

One day all of this will be over; but in the meantime I believe if we continue in prayer, touching and agreeing with God’s Word, a change will come. The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous DOES AVAIL MUCH. BLESS HIS HOLY NAME!!!

Our children are so fragile – they will believe practically anything that is taught them. We as Christians need to pray for our children, and pray that God will touch the hearts of those who are teaching children. I pray that God will touch the hearts of the children and that they will follow Him. Our children today are our leaders of tomorrow. If teachers/activists are teaching wrong things, may they repent and ask forgiveness. For those educators who are Christian trying trying to do the right thing, Bless you!

Not only do we as Christians need to pray for our children, we also need to be “activists” ourselves. We need to take on the responsibility of reproducing ourselves by evangelizing our children in our neighborhood. I can’t stress strongly enough that, if each Christians would begin holding Bible classes in his/her home–through Child Evangelism Fellowship materials–to introduce the children around their home to Jesus Christ, we would see a sweeping movement in this nation. I am a retired teacher and also taught Good News’ Clubs in my home and others’ homes. If we do NOT reach our children while they are young, we will lose the influence of the Gospel in only one generation! To not bring up children in the admonition of the Lord, is a sin of omission.

Also, within the schools the students are being trained to be activists.
For example, in a charter school in Oakland the students K-5 begin their day practicing protest marching. You may also have seen the students meeting Feinstein about the New Green Deal and telling that she had to do what they wanted because they voted for her. Her answer was, “You didn’t vote for me. You’re too young.” Caring for the environment is a worthy cause, so it is easy to harness student enthusiasm and hijack it for a socialist agenda.
So many issues. I try to stay informed, but I have simplified my prayers to prayers for revival. Whatever happens politically, I prefer to see it all as a backdrop for Christ’s return.

A good exposė on the shift in the NEA. Then there was President Carter and his formation of the Department of Education. So much history as how the Dominos began to fall.

The turbulent 60’s following the Cold War provided the fodder for the Lutheran & Catholic Charasmatic Renewals and the Jesus Movement. (Where I was Saved).

Not everyone burned their Draft Card, Flag, or Bras. For those who did, they discovered to be a ‘change agent’ they could not beat the system of government from without, so if you can’t beat them, join them, then beat them.

With all the Rancor presently, there are millions who have heard nothing but the ‘lefts’ point of view, bitten by the Cobra. In actuality, many are thirsting for true righteousness & justice, which is only found in Jesus.

The fields are ripe for harvest! The Samaritans were very religious, rejected the will of God, built their own temple to rival Jerusalem! One day, a woman has an encounter with a Jew at Jacob’s well.

The Kingdom of God is not political, the Trinity never runs for reelection. Perhaps we’ve been lulled to sleep spiritually over the years as a nation. PC is just another religion, with staunch followers. Saul was religious too!

I wonder, as a Christian and retired teacher, how many Saul’s are marching these days on the streets of our cities for a cause?, who Jesus wants to meet on the way, to introduce Himself. (Jesus always goes against the flow, willing to die for us) You think Ananais had concerns obeying the instructions to go a street called straight?

I want to be an Ananais in my day, don’t you? Renember your calling brethren….
