As believers, we are told to bless those who persecute us, to bless and not curse them (Rom 12:14). We are also cautioned against rejoicing when our enemy falls or being glad when he stumbles lest the Lord be displeased and turn His anger (judgment) away from them (Prov 24:16-22). It is a good reminder that even those we strongly disagree with – even those deemed “wicked” – are in need of prayer. Rather than complaining about them or mocking them over social media, we need to take these cases before the Lord armed with HIS Word which clarifies the judgment He has already rendered concerning their wicked state.
Ours is a spiritual battle against dark forces, not people. Here are some scriptures that can guide our prayers so that GOD can render HIS judgments and verdicts against evil:
“For surely your enemies, Lord, surely your enemies will perish; all evildoers will be scattered.” (Ps 92:9)
- Thank you, Lord, that You are scattering Your enemies far and wide; causing disruptions in their agendas and communications so as to destroy their union and influence!
“Whoever is pregnant with evil conceives trouble and gives birth to disillusionment. Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit they have made. The trouble they cause recoils on them; their violence comes down on their own heads.” (Ps 7:14-16)
- Father, we agree with Your Word that those who try to build a case against Your righteous decrees will fall into the trap they have built. Thank You for the due penalty upon those who deliberately lay snares for those who stand in the fear of the Lord. May the righteous reap righteous rewards and the unrighteous, the consequences of their sin, so that Your Word would stand and Your righteousness endure.
“Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned. The Lord will rescue His servants; no one who takes refuge in Him will be condemned.” (Ps 34:21-22)
- Thank you, Father, for preserving those who love and serve You in faithful obedience. Thank You for dealing with those with evil intent and guarding those who are falsely accused and attacked. May Your presence surround and protect all who call upon Your name in purity of heart.
“Can wicked rulers be allied with You, those who frame injustice by statute? They band together against the life of the righteous and condemn the innocent to death. But the Lord has become my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge. He will bring back on them their iniquity and wipe them out for their wickedness; the Lord our God will wipe them out.” (Ps 94:20-23 ESV)
- Father, as we stand in the gap concerning the evil perpetuated by legislation that kills our children, we thank you for Your justice which is sure and Your verdict which is right. We stand in confident faith of Your will and purpose to wipe out every law and every statute in this nation that has come against Your decree of life. We thank You for your righteous judgments and pray that all evil would be overturned and Your righteousness firmly established in this land. For Your glory, alone!
We can pray for mercy on these leaders who oppose God, but we can also stand on God’s Word against the spiritual rulers in high places. The Lord WILL execute justice as we stand on His Word.
