The House on Thursday overwhelmingly approved a broad resolution condemning hate in all forms, a response to a freshman Democrat’s remarks that were seen as anti-Semitic, but the move also exposes the rift that is roiling Democratic leadership as it struggles to find common ground with its newly emboldened progressive wing.

At issue were comments from Rep. Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.), who last week spoke of people who “push for allegiance to a foreign country,” which many listeners viewed as referring to Israel.

The resolution—which passed 407-23, with Rep. Steve King (R., Iowa) voting “present”—denounced hate and bigotry in all forms, including anti-Semitism, Islamophobia and white nationalism. While it doesn’t directly mention Ms. Omar, who is a Muslim, it springs from a debate between leadership and members that flared after Ms. Omar’s comments on Jews and Israel.

The resolution had initially been drafted to condemn anti-Semitism, but following a tense closed-door meeting of Democrats on Wednesday, language condemning anti-Muslim bias was added at the request of lawmakers in the party’s progressive wing who said Ms. Omar had been unfairly singled out, underscoring the debate taking place within the Democratic caucus. . . .

In her first months in Congress, she has faced a backlash for repeated comments about U.S. policy toward Israel and money in politics, most recently in a public forum last week, that some people describe as anti-Semitic and have drawn sharp criticism from Democrats and Republicans alike. The reverberations in particular have revealed divisions in the Democratic caucus still navigating its new majority position in the House. . . .

Some Jewish leaders in her home state of Minnesota say Ms. Omar’s comments are becoming too repetitive to be accidental. They have met with her repeatedly and made their views known after statements she has made this year and in the past.

Last month, when she apologized for a tweet linking Jews with money, and said she was still learning, that rang untrue to Minneapolis state Sen. Ron Latz, who lives in Ms. Omar’s district.

“She claimed ignorance about the impact of what she was saying,” he said. “I was thinking, wait a minute, she can’t claim that, I met with her.”

In June 2018, when Ms. Omar was running for her House seat, Mr. Latz invited her to his home, along with other Jews in the area, to discuss a tweet she sent in 2012 that said, “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.” The tweet recalled an anti-Semitic trope that Israel and its supporters were secretly tricking the world into supporting it.

He said she was generous with her time in the two-hour meeting, though she didn’t apologize for the tweet until January of this year, when pressed. The two briefly crossed paths in the state Legislature and discussed working on net neutrality and tech privacy issues.

Republicans have been quick to call out Democrats over their own infighting over how to condemn anti-Semitism and have called on Democratic leadership to remove Ms. Omar from her House Foreign Affairs Committee post.

“A watered-down condemnation of hate does little to alleviate the hurt caused by Rep. Omar’s continuous anti-Semitic rhetoric and beliefs,” said Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R., La.). (Excerpted from the Wall Street Journal.)

There is so much talk about hate and love and so much discussion about what the Bible teaches, what Jesus would do, etc.  Please pick up the Bible and read the gospels. Ask the Lord to speak to you as you read. Meet Jesus afresh in the pages of the Word.

A further issue is that video games are usually serious as the name indicated with the primary focus on mastering rather than leisure. Although, it has an entertainment element to keep the kids engaged, each one game is generally designed to improve a specific skill set or area, such as numbers or scientific research. Thanks for your posting.

Well the first thing they need to stop hating is our President. Let them start there and then maybe we’ll see some change.

Also inserted in the condemnation was “white nationalism.” Just what is that? Omar has revealed herself to be an anti-Semite and has business occupying a House seat. No sense of civility or decorum either. Umneduate removal from Foreign Affairs Committee is needed!

Politicians who don’t sign a pledge in support of Israel lose their seat. It’s interesting that Omar did not make derogatory remarks about ethnic Jews. She questioned, commented and remarked about the influence of the largest lobbying group in a American policy, and the monetary manipulation of politicians. Both democrats and republicans rely on AIPAC $$$$

Interesting also that Meghan McCain who stated that she is a “Zionist” and stated it is “dangerous” to be anti-Semitic. I would suggest that it’s dangerous to be anti-Zionist.

Not all Jews are Zionists and not all Zionists are Jews.

Are we INTERCESSORS FOR AMERICA or Zionists? We pray for the people of Israel. Not for global elites, Let’s remain anti-sin and Pro-Christ. Our Sovereign God will protect Israel so that “all the nations will know I alone am God.”

Anyone who denies that Christ has come in the flesh is anti-Christ. I pray for leaders who love their people more them themselves.

Omar should be removed from Foreign Affairs Committee. She is Muslim and obviously anti-Jew. It’s clear to see that Pelosi favors her and is not able to stand up to her and remove her. I pray the Lord will see that justice is done here. He is a God of justice. He loves justice and it is the foundation of His throne, along with righteousness. Justice for man only comes from the Lord. Psalm 37:28, 89:14, 97:2, 103:6. Proverbs 29:26. Standing on His Word.

To hate someone without knowing them and to encourage others to do the same is evil and has no place in our government. I agree that Rep. Omar’s true self hates Israel and all Jews. I met a Muslim once who seemed like a reasonable man, but then one day he talked about Israel and I could see that he was filled with unreasoning hate. My prayer is that God protect His original chosen people, that He bring them to Jesus, and that our government be formed of people who use love and wisdom to solve political problems. Lord, as always, it is in Your hands. Protect our country from people who are using the system You designed to undermine it from the inside. Amen.

I also would like to see the bill. I am praying this is not a “first step” towards the tolerance doctrine, that the UN has been pushing for years. The tolerance doctrine sounds great initially, but the end result is children being removed from homes in order to be re-indoctrinated to was is deemed by the state as “more tolerant” view on social issues which the Bible is clearly against.

Is this truly what was passed an anti-muslim bill?
I don’t hate anyone, but there are lots of people I do not trust and Muslims and politicians are at the top of the list.
Muslims have attacked the USA how many times now. It seems that all the terrorist attacks have been lead by muslims.
Please give us a copy of this bill that was voted on and passed.

Does this resolution address hateful comments about Christian?

I haven’t been able to read it for myself, however from what I could get from the news, it seemed like some Rep who hates Israel, outwardly said so, and somehow out of that we get a resolution in writing to protect hate speech and attack our freedom of speech, for it was trying to outlaw “phobias” whatever that is, specifically Islamaphobia.

We are all flawed and just children in God’s eyes. We all have to learn for ourselves how we treat others, so we shall be judged. Don’t get your backs up about the prejudice you feel is set against you without looking into your prejudice toward others.

It is disturbing to me that there have been Muslims voted in to different parts of our government and that when they make these hateful remarks concerning Israel they are not held accountable. She may make a shallow apology but that isn’t enough. Anyone who is aware of the teachings of Islam should know that they are taught to lie as a means to an end and that end being domination of all infidels…ANYONE who does not convert to Islam. If that isn’t hate speech and hate teaching then I don’t know what is. So anyone that speaks against Muslim idealogy will be considered hate speech. But I am also certain that anyone who speaks against Christians will get a major pass.
