I Prayed have prayed
Father, may we always turn to You and Scripture before going anywhere else. Help us to battle against the enemy for our children with Your Word.
Reading Time: 3 minutes

“I don’t know how to help her!  She cried all night long.”  My heart broke for my sister as she sought for direction concerning my niece.

Cierra is a senior this year.  She is an outgoing student who has always excelled in school.  She has worked hard to get to this place, her final year in high school.  It is a year most young people look forward to with great anticipation.  As we know, things are different this year.

When she began her senior year, she had twenty-four students in her class.  After just two weeks, nine students remained.

“Things are so different.”  She sobbed.

“No one talks to their friends, everyone has on a mask.  Even the teachers stay away.  There is no interaction, just rules and mandates.”

Now with more than half the students gone, it became more than she could bear.

The most disturbing part is the students didn’t leave because they became sick or contracted Covid-19.  No, their parents pulled them out of school due to the fear of getting the virus.

The enemy not only wants to paralyze the adults with fear, his plan is to steal the future of the next generation.  There is a battle for our children, one that must not prevail.

How do we help our children navigate through this?

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jer 29:11).

Regardless of the enemy’s plan – our God has a plan.  His plan will prevail if we stand on His word–for us, our children, and grandchildren.

As parents and grandparents, the Lord has extended a promise to us in Isaiah 54:13.

All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.

One translation says, “great is the undisturbed peace of our children.”

The next generation has a blood-bought right to undisturbed peace and they will have it, if we  model it for them.

Peace is a powerful weapon.  One given to us through the cross of Christ.  Jesus said,

“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”  (Jn 14:27).

This peace is a peace that is beyond our human understanding.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Phil 4:6-7).

How do we obtain and maintain this peace?  By keeping our mind upon God and what His word says.

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You (Is 26:3).

God is faithful.  We will come through this season with victory. I believe that with all my heart.  In the midst of it, we must make sure our children and grandchildren come through in peace as well.  It’s our job to help them navigate difficult seasons.  To teach them to trust God in the midst of it and to empower them to come through victoriously.

Take time to sit down and talk with your children, hear their concerns.  Tell them what God says about it, help them develop hope and resist fear.  Remind them; God has a good plan for their future and He has not changed His mind.

This was so encouraging to me as a Grandmother of a 14,10 and 6 year old grandchildren. The 10 year old is very scared if going back to school and getting the virus. My son and I have already had COVID 19, so I tell him that we did ok. I will do as your article says and set down and talk to them about the power if God and the protection of God. Thank you.

Our children need to know we speak truth outside the walls of our churches. We walk the talk, when everything is good but in our tough times. Talk with them, pray with them. Encourage them that God is greater than the struggle we are facing. Help us, Father.

Father when Israel didn’t enter the promised land, you raised up their children to enter. We ask that you would raise up our children to know and walk with you. May parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles have wisdom and share with them your love and hope. Raise up our churches to speak truth about sin to our children and the hope found in you. Raise up an army of youth and older to walk in your ways of righteousness.

I know how I feel about the masks and the way it binds us down, my granddaughter 11, cried yesterday leaving the
shore, about those awful masks, anxious and fearful. More then just the 1st day of school, also homebound the enemy
has tried to pour fear on our children and grandchildren!
We must intercede and bring them to the throne of grace and allow Jesus to touch and heal their hearts and minds!
Thank you Jesus you will met their needs!

As a parent whose daughter was a senior when this all started and seeing her miss her prom, senior activities and official high school graduation, I understand! She is now in college and it is the same as the college has closed all in person teaching, the library, the cafeteria (all food is to go) and the gym. No fun social activities that college is about.

We pray holy Father and decree and declare by the blood of Jesus that the spirit of fear be replaced with the spirit of joy and that the deception of this virus be lifted off the people! We are wonderfully made by you holy Father and there is nothing that satan’s devices can do to us! I pray for the world to know Christ and to only fear God and not man! In Jesus name!
