I Prayed have prayed
Reading Time: 5 minutes

Allan Parker, founder of The Justice Foundation, has called for daily prayer at 8 am and 8pm for the remaining eight Supreme Court Justices until June 30th or until the Supreme Court rules in writing on the current abortion case before them of Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt, also known as “the Texas case”.  This case is a critical case for the pro-life movement, and with the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, the even vote potential on cases until a new Justice is installed, brings an interesting dynamic.  Because of the critical nature of this pro-life case, and the fact that two other cases heard earlier this year were ruled in favor of pro-abortion, leaders in the pro-life and justice movements are calling for concentrated and unified prayer. Based on Luke 18 and the parable of the persistent widow which Jesus taught us to show us to “always pray and not give up,” Parker and others are asking for His elect to continue to keep on praying for a god-honoring outcome for this case. A list of intercession prayer points have been provided by Kay Horner & Dallas Eggemeyer, as part of the prayer surge.

Interceding for the United States Supreme Court Prayer Directives
1. Praise God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ as our supreme Law Giver, who rules and reigns supreme, and calls us to intercede for those in authority.
First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (Timothy 2:1–4).
2. Thank God that He establishes justice and equity.
The strength of the King loves justice; You have established equity; You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob (Psalm 99:4).
3. Acknowledge Christ as the Head over all things.
For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,
and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority (Colossians 2:9–10).
4. Decree and declare that the Church carries Christ’s delegated kingdom authority.
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:20).
5. Recognize that we have been given access to use kingdom keys of authority.
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven (Matthew 16:19).
6. Declare breakthrough as the Lord God Almighty arises bringing light in the darkness.
The Lord has broken through my enemies before me like the breakthrough of waters (2 Samuel 5:20b).
“Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples; but the Lord will rise upon you and His glory will appear upon you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising” (Isaiah 60:1–3).
7. Give God thanks and praise through Jesus Christ for the Word that dwells in us and can be made known to the Supreme Court Justices.
Let the Word of Christ richly dwell within you, with all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God. Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father (Colossians 3:16–17).
8. Seek Him not in fasting and prayer alone, but also in worship and adoration.
Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the sons of Israel assembled with fasting, in sackcloth and with dirt upon them. The descendants of Israel separated themselves from all foreigners, and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers. While they stood in their place, they read from the book of the law of the Lord their God for a fourth of the day; and for another fourth they confessed and worshiped the Lord their God. Now on the Levites’ platform stood Jeshua, Bani, Kadmiel, Shebaniah, Bunni, Sherebiah, Bani and Chenani, and they cried with a loud voice to the Lord their God. Then the Levites, Jeshua, Kadmiel, Bani, Hashabneiah, Sherebiah, Hodiah, Shebaniah and Pethahiah, said, “Arise, bless the Lord your God forever and ever! O may Your glorious name be blessed and exalted above all blessing and praise! You alone are the Lord. You have made the heavens, the heaven of heavens with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to all of them and the heavenly host bows down before You (Nehemiah 9:1–6).
9. Fulfill the call and intercede earnestly for full assurance that the will of God will be accomplished.
Epaphras, who is one of your number, a bondslave of Jesus Christ, sends you his greetings, always laboring earnestly for you in his prayers, that you may stand perfect and fully assured in all the will of God Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it. (Colossians 4:12, 17).
10. Strive together in prayer for the body of Christ to unite in seeking God for the Supreme Court Justices.
Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me (Romans 15:30).
11. Wait in confidence and trust that as we have prayed according to His will, God will grant our requests.
This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him (1 John 5:14–15).
12. Pray God will allow hearts to be open to the mystery of Christ as the Giver of life through the wise conduct of believers that interact with the Justices. Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak. Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person (Colossians 4:2–6).

A twice daily prayer conference call at 8am and 8pm ET is available and open for those who want to pray along with others for the Supreme Court Justices. The call in number is 515-739-1010,  and use code 414009# to join the call.
