GOOD NEWS: USDA TO CLOSE LOOPHOLE AND ENCOURAGE SELF-SUFFICIENCY IN AID RECIPIENTS
Although the headlines and top news are usually full of allegations and criticisms of the President, meanwhile some very important changes are happening within our government.
One very basic biblical principle is the importance of work in providing basic needs for ourselves. (See Prv 12:11; 14:23; 18:9; 21:5)
Yesterday, the United States Department of Agriculture proposed closing a loophole that allowed for automatic Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits to be conferred to people who receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). The loophole was highlighted by a millionaire in Minnesota who enrolled and received benefits in order to highlight the government waste.
According to the USDA, “This proposal gives USDA the ability to save billions of dollars, ensuring nutrition assistance programs are delivered with consistency and integrity to those most in need.” Secretary Sonny Perdue, a committed Christian who participates in weekly Bible studies with other Cabinet leaders, commented, “For too long, this loophole has been used to effectively bypass important eligibility guidelines. Too often, states have misused this flexibility without restraint. The American people expect their government to be fair, efficient, and to have integrity – just as they do in their own homes, businesses, and communities. That is why we are changing the rules, preventing abuse of a critical safety net system, so those who need food assistance the most are the only ones who receive it.”

I, too am very grateful for Sec. Sonny Perdue. May he continue to follow the Lord’s leading, in His power to bring glory to God’s righteousness, justice, fairness, following the guidelines: According to the USDA, “This proposal gives USDA the ability to save billions of dollars, ensuring nutrition assistance programs are delivered with consistency and integrity to those most in need.” Secretary Sonny Perdue, a committed Christian who participates in weekly Bible studies with other Cabinet leaders, commented, “For too long, this loophole has been used to effectively bypass important eligibility guidelines.
Heavenly Father, Your Word tells us to help the needy, widows, orphans, etc. The USA does that in many ways. Thank You for giving us a leader like Sec. Perdue to realize these loopholes in our laws allow people who don’t even need help take advantage of these programs. Help our leaders make good, fair, and righteous laws to help the needy with their housing, medical needs, as well as food, clothing and other needs. Let Thy will be done to help the needy and may all fraud be exposed. In Jesus’ Mighty Name I pray. Amen
The tax payer funded system should support the needy, in accordance with the law. That system should not
encourage and reward indolence, nor should it expend more money than is required to fulfill the statutory
purposes. Thank you Lord for sound, common sense reform in assistance programs.
That’s exactly what is needed in all our assistance programs- sound, common sense reform.
Lord, please confuse the strategy of the demonic realm in the welfare and snap system. Make one lie prove another wrong until they kill each other and fall to the ground, in Jesus name, Amen.
Amen! I add my agreement to this prayer
I concur! Amen!
