From Saving Israeli Babies to Saving Soldiers and Communities
Did you know that the nation of Israel is very open to abortion, offering it to all members of the IDF? It is in this pro-abortion nation that EFRAT was born, working for nearly fifty years to save just under 85,000 babies. This press release details the efforts EFRAT is going to to help Israelis during the war.
Why is an organization that is committed to saving babies in Israel shifting to outfitting soldiers and providing supplies for evacuees?
Cherishing Life
“At the end of the day, we’re all about saving lives and building a better future,” noted Nir Salomon, Executive Director of EFRAT (pronounced ‘eff-RAHT’), an Israeli organization committed to saving babies from abortion. EFRAT supports mothers-to-be with financial assistance and emotional support so they can give birth and raise their baby with dignity, joy, and peace of mind. For nearly 50 years, EFRAT has been the point of contact for women who want to give birth to their babies, but are experiencing emotional and financial distress. Over 85,200 babies have been saved and are today part of the Jewish people because of the tireless efforts of EFRAT. In fact, a significant number of soldiers who are fighting on the frontlines today are the very babies that were born due to the assistance of EFRAT.
Let the IFA community know how to pray for you.
Unlike in many states in the US, Israeli women have legal rights to access to reproductive health services including abortions. Nevertheless, the decision to keep or terminate a pregnancy has much to do with the care and quality of support a woman can expect to receive while she is most vulnerable-during and after the pregnancy. As a country whose people experienced generational trauma of pogroms, the Holocaust, forced exiles, and now October 7th attack by Hamas, Israel remains a society that treasures their children. The birth rate in Israel remains near 3 children per household, higher than any other OECD country.
A Realignment
When the terror organization Hamas attacked southern Israeli communities on October 7, the whole world changed for the people of Israel. Over 1,500 men, women, and children from babies to the elderly, were brutally slaughtered by hundreds of terrorists who overran their idyllic towns and villages during a sacred Jewish holiday. Over 240 innocents were abducted from their beds and kidnapped.
A month later, the population of Israel are still living under barrages of rocket attacks day and night both from the south and from the north. Hundreds of thousands of reservists have left their work and homes to fight to save the Jewish State.
But even during these difficult times, EFRAT continues to provide the mothers of over 3,000 babies with the support of food and baby care packages, often under rocket fire.
“We are not changing the mission of EFRAT.” Salomon offered. “But we are one family. It is impossible to ignore the fact that we are at war. We know now that no one is safe until this terrible period is over. I know It’s hard for Americans to imagine this reality, but this is what we are facing.”
For this reason, EFRAT is asking their supporters of Israel around the world to not only continue to pray for their safety, but to have their backs in these difficult times.
Protecting the communities in the heartland
Nearly 10% of Israel’s civilian population mobilized into war-time readiness against this existential threat–-the largest mobilization in the modern state’s 75-year history. EFRAT is in close communication with civilian patrols in Jewish communities in the heartland of Israel that are surrounded by enemy villages actively preparing to attack. Many members of these civilian patrols have been called up to active fighting. Reservists and additional civilians have joined to reinforce these patrols. But they do not have the necessary gear to be effective.
These civilian patrols function like a national guard. They patrol the perimeters of their communities, alert the community of break-ins, and stay in constant communication with the army and emergency services. They are on high alert for threats of infiltrations.
Tens of thousands of women, children, and elderly are currently living in fear of an attack at any moment. With war, preparation is everything. EFRAT became aware that these reservist civilian patrols lacked many basic supplies, they quickly began sourcing supplies within Israel and abroad.
Supporting displaced families from the south and north
During normal times, EFRAT provides mothers-to-be around the country with baby packages in addition to emotional counseling and professional guidance. When the fallout of the war began, EFRAT was uniquely positioned to step in when they started to get phone calls from frantic families.
Hundreds of thousands of people have been displaced. The survivors of the slaughter of October 7th whose communities were infiltrated, homes destroyed and families butchered in ways unimaginable, were transported to hotels in other cities. Others whose homes were at risk of direct rocket attacks both in the south and in the north were forced to make their own plans and find shelter. Families fled with the clothes on their back and little else, leaving everything behind.
EFRAT mobilized immediately with transports of cots, strollers, clothing, diapers, bottles and pacifiers to locations around the country. The appreciation was heartfelt.
One mother of six shared her deep thanks:
To all of EFRAT, I want to thank you and on behalf of other mothers here in this hotel who have received your assistance. When we were evacuated from Sderot under those crazy conditions, we left many of the things we needed behind because they didn’t fit in the cars with us because there wasn’t any space and little time. You really helped us with everything we needed including strollers, baby supplies, bottles, pacifiers, and clothing especially as the weather is suddenly changing from summer to winter. Continue your holy work to bring a complete redemption for the Nation of Israel.
For Salomon and Ben Tal Varady, they are hopeful that in the not-too-distant future, they will be able to focus exclusively on EFRAT’s primary mission—the support of mothers and rescue of babies.
“What EFRAT does, day in and day out, is no less important than the war we are fighting now,” Salomon said. Our effort to celebrate life is part of our cultural DNA. But for now, we are also asking the good people in the world to help ensure our survival.”

Efrat – fruitful; honored
“For nearly 50 years, EFRAT has been the point of contact for women who want to give birth to their babies, but are experiencing emotional and financial distress. ”
“Within biblical numerology, the number 50 represents unity, completeness, and new beginnings. It signifies the perfect completion of God’s work and the manifestation of His promises.” https://biblemeanings.net/number-50-meaning-in-the-bible/
“Don’t be afraid, I have redeemed you; I’m calling you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through rivers, they will not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire, you will not be scorched —the flame will not burn you. I regard you as VALUED and HONORED and I love you. I have chosen you; know Me, trust Me. Understand that I AM HE, no god was before Me and none will be after Me. I am ADONAI. I AM DOING SOMETHING NEW…can’t you see it? I am the One who blots out your offenses for My Own sake. I will not remember your sins. I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, My blessing on your offspring. I formed you, don’t forget Me.”

Dear Heavenly Father, You are Abba and You are Almighty God, You are Faithful and You are Fierce. I pray in this year, as Efrat nears their 50th year of service, You will saturate them in Your Word. I pray You will honor their good works to be fruitful beyond measure. May each individual involved, in both offering and receiving, know You and love You. May each individual involved, in both offering and receiving, personally know Jesus Christ. l ask this in His Name, Your Only Begotten Son, Savior and Messiah. Amen
