Your prayers for our nation’s capital are being answered in this season when we celebrate the resurrection of our Savior, Jesus. The Capitol Police have confirmed this week that the outer fencing that surrounded the Capitol has been removed and roads are reopening.
We are reminded in Matthew 16 that Jesus stated, “Upon this rock I will build my church; the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Easter weekend is a time we remember the greatest story ever told, a story of victory over sin, death, and the grave.
The good news is the reading of God’s Word and the singing of praise this Easter weekend will not be restrained in our nation’s capital. At a time when every church in the nation’s capital is restricted from holding in person services, two outreaches to celebrate Easter are being planned on or near the National Mall.
David’s Tent offers 24/7 praise and worship on the National Mall and has been a beacon of praise in our capital for many years. They will be hosting several Easter services on Sunday in collaboration with several area churches, outdoors on the National Mall within blocks of the Capitol. You are welcome anytime to join in praise and worship, but services will be held at 10:30 AM, 1:30 PM, 3:30 PM, and from 5 PM – 8 PM. David’s Tent is located near 7th St NW and Madison Dr. near the Smithsonian Metro stop on the Mall.
IFA recently hosted Reverend Arthur Hunt and Pastor Dana Coverstone on the Tuesday Pray with Others Live webcast to highlight another Easter weekend event called, Just GOD. The vision for this two-day event was articulated by Reverend Arthur Hunt, a 30-year producer of MLK legacy tributes. You can view his inspired vision which was shared with IFA.
From April 3-4, they will be reading the entire Bible aloud in front of the Martin Luther King Memorial near the Tidal Basin and the National Mall. You can also read a portion of the Bible from anywhere—this is the 7th time Reverend Hunt has organized a 50 state “Cleanse”—a reading of God’s Word over the nation, assigned by state. These events are a stark contrast to the steel fence and armed guards around our Capitol!

Pray for a great awakening among our Federal and State legislators, judges, governors, city officials. With boots on the ground and intercessors in the closets, we can win this war against our nation. Hold high the banner of Jesus Christ. He said if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me. Therefore, let us lift him up higher and higher. May our praises and our prayers be sweet incense unto our Lord and our God and a stench to the enemy! Hallelujah!
How does the death, burial, and resurrection of the LORD Jesus Christ encompass ‘three days & three nights’ if tradition holds to a ‘Good Friday’ death? Because He died on a Wednesday [a High Holy Sabbath] and fulfilled the prophecy re. Jonah as foreshadowing the Messiah’s atonement. Happy Resurrection Sunday!

In Jesus’ Name, Heavenly Father, I thank you for allowing me to enter Your throne room, and come into your most glorious presence. I thank You as my brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, around the world, are soon to celebrate, Your Son’s, our High Priest’s sacrifice for the sins of all, for all times at this Easter. Lord, Washington, DC is Your’s. The whole world is, Your’s. What some in the world do not know is You exist everywhere. Your Church reigns!! As Jesus told his disciples “the gates of Hades will not prevail, or overcome His Church”. I thank you for the “David’s Tent”, and “Just God”, and all who worked hard in Your Name to bring Easter celebration to our nation’s capitol. Father, bless these projects of worship, and bring many to faith in Jesus as a result. Let there be revival in Washington, DC and around the world at this Easter time. Thank You, Father. Amen.
Heavenly Father, I thank You for what You did on the cross. Help us to always remember Your sacrifice and celebrate the greatest story and glory in the defeat of sin and death as we enter this Easter holiday. May we always remember also, The way of the Cross leads home. In Jesus holy and precious name, amen.
We are praying for a revival and/or A Great Awakening in the U.S.A. by the grace of God Almighty. Amen. This is our only hope. Amen again.
Our church will have 3 services, AMEN. Time to celebrate in spite of all the nay sayers stuff. Just Do it! If we don t stand firm we will let the world have its way. The way of the cross leads home states the old hymn.
The Christian Defense Coalition is also hosting their annual Good Friday service at noon at the Capitol… in fact, it’s been done each year ON the Capitol grounds of the actual Capitol building, but this year they’ve been blocked and are actually in the middle of a lawsuit with the government to allow access for this. There are many groups and people going in and out of the Capitol building – obviously members of Congress, but also invited guests, vendors, and lobbyists. This is supposed to be the “people’s house”, so there are several liberty minded legal groups who are joining in the lawsuit with Rev. Mahoney (“Mahoney Vs. Speaker Pelosi” is the case). Please pray for this case which will be filed today in Federal Court and probably be heard tomorrow or Thursday as they have to give an answer prior to Friday. It’s critical that we stand guard as protectors of religious liberty and not just allow this selective choosing of who is and is not to be on the Capitol grounds. As the Apostle Paul noted when he was arrested that he was a Roman Citizen, and used that privilege of citizenship to further the gospel, we must fight to keep our 1st Amendment liberties that our nation was founded on. “Eternal vigilance is the price of Liberty” (posted at the front door of the National Archives in Wash DC). I will be celebrating with my church family and our pastor will be holding a baptismal service. I Give all the glory and praise to our awesome Heavenly Father. Our Father is working and answering prayers! We must continue to stand and see his glory manifested PTL!
