I Prayed have prayed
Father, we pray against the influence of the demonic in our lives. Protect us, Lord, from spiritual attacks on our health!
Reading Time: 5 minutes

The Bible teaches that the average lifespan for an individual will be 70 to 80 years (Ps. 90:10). I recently read an interview with a man who is 109, still driving and doing well. And there’s a sizzling bestseller from Japan that studied centenarians giving great advice on living a longer and healthier life.

Who is praying on the wall?

Madonna, who is 64, almost died recently but was it linked to anything in the dark lifestyle she lives? Remember Jesus told us our enemy comes to “steal, kill and destroy” (Jn.10:10).

One thing I’ve noticed in all the articles I’ve read dealing with health is a noticeable absence of mentioning the element of spiritual forces working behind the scenes to cause our downfall and premature death. From a biblical standpoint, should the demonic be factored in when dealing with our health?

No Vision

Helen Keller, who had no hearing or sight, told us, “The only thing worse than having no sight is having no vision.” As we all experience the realities of aging, it’s imperative to have a biblically informed perspective on maladies we may face. Some have faith to live very long or purchase facial makeovers, injections and implants, yet scripture reminds us, “The outward man is perishing…” (2 Cor. 4:16).

While it’s important to eat right, exercise regularly and regulate stress for temple maintenance, are there times when our physical bodies come under attack by the devil? If so, should we remain passive or just believe everything is already predetermined?

Reading Paul’s letter to the Galatians we learn that he first preached to them when he was ill. He told them he was blessed knowing they would be willing to pluck out their eyes to help him. He mentioned that he wrote with large letters.

This is the apostle who said, “Satan hindered us” (1 Thessalonians 2:18). He told the Corinthian church “A thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me lest I be exalted above measure” (2 Cor. 12:7).

Satanic Schemes

“Be sober and watchful, because your adversary the devil walks around as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. Resist him firmly in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world” (1 Pet. 5:8-9). Does this include attacks on our physical bodies especially at times where we are exerting strategic influence damaging to Satan’s kingdom?

Mario Murillo is a 40-year veteran evangelist who shares transparently regarding assaults on his life. I’ve been praying for him as he’s encountered attacks on his physical body along with unbelievable resistance to his assignment in gospel work. I identify 100%, believing the enemy has a “target on my back” along with other leaders at this critical time. If you’re a leader, ignore this to your peril!

“New levels – new devils” is not just a cute cliché. When Paul began breaking spiritual ground in Ephesus (Acts 19:11-16) with high level supernatural activity, seven men were driven away by demons who actually spoke that they knew Jesus and Paul but these guys were charlatans. We ask the question today, “Are you known in hell?” and if you are, you’d better “stand against the schemes of the devil” (Eph. 6:11) and equip your flock to do likewise.

C.S. Lewis’ Counsel

For those thinking, “God is in control… Don’t give credit to the devil,” let’s call to mind the caution of C.S. Lewis. He said some dismiss the devil to their peril while others are preoccupied with him. Avoid both errors and extremes.

Mr. Lewis called us to biblical balance. “God is sovereign over Satan. The devil has no free hand in the world. He is on a leash and can do only what God permits.” Remember the accounts in the Bible of Job’s and Peter’s testings where permission had to be secured in the supreme court of heaven before they were attacked!

While there is an element of mystery regarding God’s provision for healing and health, there are many reasons why people experience sickness and disease. We must never cavalierly attribute all infirmity to demonic involvement. Violating biblical principles brings consequences, (“For this reason many are weak and unhealthy amongst you, and many die” I Cor. 11:30); although God is oftentimes merciful in redeeming foolishness and disobedience.

Is Satan Behind Some Sickness?

The Bible cautions us to remain vigilant, “lest Satan should take advantage of us. For we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Cor. 2:11). While it is true that “Healing and health is God’s normative will for His obedient and believing children” (Dr. Michael Brown), people can suffer with a “spirit of infirmity” like a woman Jesus healed of whom He revealed, “Satan has bound these 18 years” (Lk.13:10-16).

The whole Trinity is involved in combating the “thief” Jesus says comes “to steal and kill and destroy” (Jn.10:10). “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him” (Acts 10:38). If we don’t believe this or recognize the one whom Jesus called the “murderer” (Jn.8:44), we can lie down on the inside and become what prophetic leader John Paul Jackson called “needless casualties of war.”

Proactive Not Passive

The good news for the biblically informed Christian is remembering and remaining confident in the fact that Satan is a defeated foe! “And having disarmed authorities and powers, He made a show of them openly, triumphing over them by the cross” (Col. 2:15). Confident of this we must be intentional in our battles and employ the gift of “discernment of spirits” (1 Cor. 12:10) to unmask our adversary!

The very passage directing us to be watchful and resistant to the devil’s devices then states, “But after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called us to His eternal glory through Christ Jesus, will restore, support, strengthen and establish you” (1 Pet. 5:10-11).

Here’s the deal: Scripture exhorts us not to be “lazy” but “through faith and patience inherit the promises” (Heb. 6:12). Let’s follow the instructions in the New Testament, fulfill the conditions, and stand in faith believing on His Word to receive what He promised.

“Is anyone sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.  And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed any sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your faults to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed” (James 5:14:15).

Yes I have-,for at least 6 months- after Pastor Greg Locke started his Deliverance Ministry about a year and a half before that time.
It’s been a heck of a struggle to find somebody that can ( please, willing to try, is involved) cast out demons and I tried to do it myself to no avail. It has been a hot potato of an issue.. so I guess I’m going to try Neil Anderson’s book again-, I read in the 90s that was mentioned in o this column-, in response to this article. I for one come down firmly on the side of the issue that the gifts are for today and that is demonic strongholds can be removed but to me it seems obvious that when Jesus cast out demons-, he did it in person- even when he sent the 70 out- they didit in person-, even though they used His power -but there was always a disciple present.. unlike when Jesus healed the centurion’s servant-, remotely.. demons were never cast out remotely.

Folks, when you’ve been contending with abusive hell for nearly 50 years, and pray as a child of GOD and adult wirh no response from HIM, it simply proves HE doesn’t defend HIS own..
If HE wanted HIS Kingdom to come and will be done (as every child and grandma prays), why does HE not answer? (Asking for a friend: e.g. my millions of friends who are being shipped by container from Asia in sex trafficking rings, etc.).

It always surprises me when I read a message l8ke this. We battle not against human forces alone but those unseen..
My daughter recently said, “I know a lot of people who don’t believe in heaven or hell!.” It gave me strategy to pray for her and others in the job market, like teachers and health care.
The Lord also reminded me of the necessity of praying over my own home since the enemy piggybacks on unbelievers who enter.
The Lord showed me last night we are in an Accelerated period when Time as we know it will pass swiftly from now until the end of December.
We are to stop and rest so we can hear what the Spirit is saying..
Mario Murillo has an event this next week that is vital for this area. Prayer is needed.
Thank You for reminding us of God’s love and Protection…Amen

“We ask the question today, “Are you known in hell?” and if you are, you’d better “stand against the schemes of the devil…” Larry Tomczak
Years ago, in a sermon and in regard to our enemy, I heard a pastor say something to this effect….
“When I wake up in the morning and put my feet on the floor, I want (them) to say, “OH NO, he’s awake!” I loved this the first time I heard it and love it still : )

“God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him”
Larry Tomczak quoting from Acts 10:38

As I was walking and praying early in the morning, I found myself singing to the Lord. And as I remembered His unquantifiable love, I was totally overwhelmed by His love for me but even more so when (I believe) He shared with me just how much…..
…when showing a child how much they are loved, the universal gesture is arms wide open…this much!
…with arms wide open, Jesus hung on The Cross. For God so loved the world…this much!
…with arms wide open, He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west…this much!

1 Corinthians 15:57: “Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Dear Heavenly Father and God Almighty, I believe every Word in Your Book, from “in the beginning” to “Amen.” I believe You are concerned with our spirit and our body and our mind. I also believe Satan is defeated but battles are still raging on. So today, I pray You will show Your love to those who are sick in the body. I pray You will show Your love to those who are sick in the mind. And most prayerfully, I hope You will show Your love to those who are sick and spiritless. You compel my every prayer Father and You have NEVER forgotten one, even the first. Remember who I prayed for during my morning walk? Would You cover each of them in Your love? I am praying Your love will fill them with Godly sorrow…Your love will compel them to repentance and to salvation. I pray this earsplitting chorus will follow, “Thanks be to God! He gave us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Amen

PS. I prayed for many things but my ever prayer is for EACH AND EVERYONE involved in human trafficking, ESPECIALLY those who prey on children: those who snatch away, coyotes, cartel members, ALL the influential men and women who are funding this wicked industry and who are highly regarded BUT corrupted to the core. It is my privilege to pray and I do so in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

GOD is onipotente HE is every where all the time. The fallen angel called the devil has demons that tormen us. Possession VS torment, I’m a born again Christian, the HOLY SPIRIT dwells in me so I can only be tormented. YES I have been tormented, untilI I decide to be delivered from the tormentors.
Unforgiveness of a beliver is 1 way that Christians allow the tormentor into their lives (just 1 way). As long as I hold on to Unforgiveness GOD allows me to be tormented.
GOD will give me the same forgiveness that I give a fellow believer. GOD not answering my prayers what is in my life that I need to give up. Maybe it’s a traumatic event; the lost of a love one, marriage issue, addictions there’s a number of things that allow the tormentor to show up.
STOP it today!
If you can’t or don’t understand what to do find someone who understands and break those chains.
To be delivered of the tormentors and you may have more than one don’t let just anyone help you. Make sure they know how to fill the space where the tornentor gas come from.

Just what I needed for myself and my daughter. Her marriage is under attack and my health recently came under attack. I am the Prayer Director for Mission Generation, a group that fought hard for the Chaplain Bill passed in the Texas legislature on June 10th. Now we are recruiting chaplains to serve in the Fall Texas public school semester.
My daughter is in a Christian ministry with Bethany Hamilton that provides Biblical knowledge to moms and their teen daughters that are seeking an improved relationship.
Excellent article…Thank you.

Ignorant of evil strongholds, I recently read the book The Bondage Breaker by Dr Neil T Anderson. The book outlines the Steps of Freedom in Christ, steps of repentance so people can break the evil strongholds in their lives and experience freedom like you have never experienced. I was delivered from my evil strongholds and I praise Jesus for this healing. Read this scripture-based book for freedom and unhindered connection to God our Father.

IS 54:17: “No weapon formed against us shall prosper; and every tongue which rises against us in judgment, You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their vindication is from Me, says the Lord.” Lord Jesus, You have all power, all authority in heaven and on earth. I submit to You, the healing of my elevated blood pressure and healing of the cause of it. May You receive the honor and glory for its healing. Your shed blood is Sufficient for our every need. Thank
