I had the privilege to be invited to participate in the Rose Garden for the National Day of Prayer Observance hosted by our President. It was the highlight of my life. There were 120 or 140 people who were invited to be a part of this. Watch the whole feed of that event. The last prayer that was prayed–the Holy Spirit fell on that Rose Garden!

About six or eight years ago I was asked to come to a place of prayer behind the Supreme Court by a gentlemen who’s been known as one of the prayer patriarchs in DC. He said, “Dave I’ve got a congressman who wants to come in and pray tomorrow morning. Can you come in?”  So I met Dick Simmons [the next morning] and it was still dark and in walked this congressman.  I could just really tell by this man’s prayers that he was very humble. He sincerely wanted to hear from the Lord on where God’s direction was for him. And so we prayed and then he left and I didn’t really know who he was [because] I was new to town. So I began to keep track of him, obviously and when we prayed I really sensed that he had a presidential calling upon his life. And so I didn’t say anything about it at that time, but I just prayed for him and I wanted to just continue to pray for him. Next thing I know he becomes the governor of Indiana and then next thing I know he becomes the Vice President of the United States of America and I’m just absolutely astounded this humble man, who is I’m telling you the real deal.

So anyways yesterday I was in the Rose Garden.  The Vice President made a few remarks also. He stuck around afterwards as the president was whisked away for duties but the Vice President stuck around. Of course everybody there wanted to get their picture taken with him and I waited it to the very end and as his aide was trying to whisk him away and I asked for a picture with him. As his aide was taking our picture I said, “Mr. Vice President. I don’t know if you recall this but you asked a gentleman to pray with you about the direction for your life when you were leaving Congress. There was one other person in that room and that person was me and we’ve been praying for you ever since.” He looked at me, in the Rose Garden, and said, “I remember that.”  So I said to him, “ Mr. Vice President, I really sense that you had a Presidential calling and I just didn’t know how to pray for you about that. But let me tell you now there are tens of thousands who are praying for you, in addition to me, as you fulfill your role as Vice President.”

God puts these miraculous connections together! You never know when they’re going to bear fruit. I’m standing in the Rose Garden, just a regular guy from a little town in Ohio. I’m standing next to the Vice President and encouraging him in his walk and his fulfilling his duties with the Lord. It was a highlight of my life.
