The California Legislature has passed a resolution blaming religious leaders and groups that support sexual orientation change efforts therapies for the suicides and attempted suicides of those who identify as LGBT.

In a party-line vote last week, the state Senate approved Assembly Concurrent Resolution 99, which demands that people of faith in the state change their approach to ministering to same-sex attracted men and women and others who identify as LGBT.

The resolution, though nonbinding, was sponsored by Democratic state Assemblyman Evan Low of San Jose. The text of ACR-99 criticizes pastors, counselors, and other religious ministers helping those who are struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction or gender confusion. The resolution calls religious views about sexual ethics that do not affirm LGBT identities “stigmatizing beliefs” that contribute to depression and suicide.

Supporters of the resolution assert that religious liberty does not apply here as it amounts to discrimination. They also argue that such counseling from faith-based groups is “psychological torture” and “mental health malpractice.”

“Until recently, the interpretation of the First Amendment was that one religion could not impose itself on other religions,” said Democratic state Sen. Hannah Beth Jackson of Santa Barbara. That “one should have religious freedom to discriminate against others is a relatively new concept,” she added.

Legislators who voted against the measure highlighted its encroachment on First Amendment rights. Republican state Sen. Andreas Borgeas of Fresno said that while the resolution does not have the force of law behind it, “we are treading into freedom of speech territory that I think should concern all of us.” “When an individual seeks therapy or guidance before a religious leader, whether it be a mosque, a temple, or a church, that’s a private setting. … To disallow or create the pathway where we tell individuals they cannot say certain things should give us pause,” he said.

In a Thursday interview with The Epoch Times, Greg Burt of the California Family Council echoed similar concerns. ‘“We believe in free speech. They [the legislators] have every right to criticize our position, but the state government does not have the right to use its power to coerce us to change. And that’s where we believe this resolution is heading,” he said.

The passage of the California resolution occurred just before the city council in New York City announced that it’s moving to scrap its ban on the kinds of counseling the West Coast state sought to outlaw last year, after the Alliance Defending Freedom filed a lawsuit in January, challenging its constitutionality on First Amendment grounds.

The city council, though decidedly in favor of the ban, moved to repeal it believing that it would not withstand court challenges and be rejected as unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Lord desires to forgive all sexual deviance and is merciful and gracious to those seeking redemption. May the Lord convict Evan Low and this legislature of its wrongful stance and hear the voice of reason, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Just an answer to David Marco; “All” sexual activity outside of “Traditional” marriage is labeled by God as “sin” (fornication = before marriage, and adultery = after marriage, and will take the unrepentant sinner to hell for eternity. (Whether they call themselves Christian, or not)
God gave marriage to a male and female to have the highest level of intimacy between these two individuals where their two bodies become “one” through the sexual experience, and where they create a human baby in the likeness of themselves. This is how God created the “institution” of the “family” as all human beings have been born through this same pattern established by God from the beginning of time, up to now, and will ever be. Fornicators who turn away from God, including the lowest form of sexual perversion is warned against in (Romans 1:21-32) where sinners become so perverse that they become “reprobate”= (void of judgement) and “vile” in their thoughts and actions. With 50+ of Americans having some form of STD’s, with 75% of them incurable, maybe we should stick to God’s plan for sexuality, and turn from our wicked ways. If God does not judge America for their sexual (and other) perversions, God will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah. We need to pray for “their” Salvation through Jesus Christ as they must Repent and Turn from their sinful lifestyle.
The only thing we can wear to have “safe” sex is a “wedding band” in a traditional marriage. Stay faithful to God, and each other so you can enjoy sexual relations with each other for a lifetime.
We do not need to give those in sexual perversion a pass on their sins, as God will judge them harshly and will not overlook our complacency and compliancy with their sins, as they “proudly” march on to hell, while taking this nation with them. Maranatha = our LORD comes !

I’ve heard that in Sweden, where LGBTQ is widely accepted, the suicide rate is just as high as it is here. So it seems that their argument is wrong. Pray for the truth to be told!
In addition, if someone has chromosomes of one gender, and they think they’re a different gender than their biology, isn’t that a great cause of confusion? Scientifically, there is great room for honest research.

On the balance, I don’t see God actually being harsh to homosexuals. I know one young man in particular who was truly suicidal (his family does reject his feelings) in dealing with this until he came to the conclusion he was gay. I know of another son raised in a good Christian family who is gay. I’m glad in the last case the family isn’t rejecting this son. I think there is room for healing.

I hope we can be loving towards homosexuals as people, while still standing firm against many of the radical agendas put forth by some. Trump has been interesting in including homosexuals but not allowing all of their activist agendas, e.g., he didn’t allow the rainbow flag to be flown at embassies. He is allowing the openly gay ambassador to Germany. Some of the strongest conservative political voices are from gays!

It’s interesting that the eunuchs are the ones who threw down Jezebel from her window!

It’s a topic of much prayer!

Dear Jesus,
I lift up those who want to leave the lifestyle they are in. Please preserve their freedom to seek help to change, and preserve the freedom of those who can help them. Thank You for Your unfailing love and power. We praise and honor You. Amen.

The enemy is out to steal, kill, & destroy! He is also a liar 🤥. Those who are following in the devil’s ways are merely pawns. My prayer is for the Light to shine so brightly that darkness must go! For ALL of us! Jesus Christ has won, let’s walk in our victory in Christ Jesus! Amen

Why are the lgbtq going to Christian counselors if they don’t want to hear what the Bible says about sexual perversion?? Duh ! All they have to do is read Romans ch.1. It’s self explanatory. God/Jesus is always available to those who have a change of heart, in doing the things that makes them feel guilty and condemned.
All they have to do is Seek the LORD Jesus Christ, pray, Repent of your sins and turn from their wicked ways.
