I Prayed have prayed
Reading Time: 3 minutes

When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers. (Prv 21:15)

Citizens are bound by the laws our elected officials pass, not by their behaviors or personalities. The charisma, temperament, and lifestyle of public officials are secondary to the roles they play and the responsibilities they carry. The true goals and values of any elected leader will be demonstrated by the decisions they make, the legislation they create, and the laws they enact. We are legally bound by these official actions and must also live with the consequences of these decisions.

If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. (Dt 28:1)

Believers are called to pray for our leaders and  to elect and appoint officials who will support and uphold the biblical values we embrace. Regardless of public persona or charismatic personality, we must vote for candidates who will actively support our biblical values and constitutional heritage.

IFA’s latest voter guide, Glorifying God through Elections, suggests seven biblical values as critical issues in this upcoming election. Prayerfully consider these issues. Ask the Lord to reveal which candidates uphold these values in words and in action. Pray that our elected officials will embrace these eternal principles, making right decisions and just laws to uphold them.

LIFE

Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. (Ps 139:16)

BIBLICAL FAMILY VALUES

Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. (Heb 13:4)

“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” (Mt 19:4-5)

FREEDOM OF RELIGION AND SPEECH

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Gal 5:1)

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. (Prv 31:8-9)

CONSTITUTION-HONORING COURTS

And he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. (Isaiah 11:3-4a)

Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great but judge your neighbor fairly. (Lv 19:15)

SUPPORT OF ISRAEL

I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. (Gn 12:3)

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May those who love you be secure. May there be peace within your walls and security within your citadels.” (Ps 122:6-7)

WELFARE REFORM

The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern. (Prv 29:7)

Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need. (Eph 4:28)

JUST AND COMPASSIONATE IMMIGRATION

From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. (Acts 17:26-27)

As the midterm elections approach, share this information with others so that we can agree in our prayers, be unified in our vision, and vote for candidates who will support Kingdom values being established in the land.

Nehemiah5: Helped the Poor, with God’s help & answer to prayers used President Donald J Trump in same manor.
5:1 Now the men and their wives raised a great outcry against their fellow Jews. 2 Some were saying, “We and our sons and daughters are numerous; in order for us to eat and stay alive, we must get grain.”
3 Others were saying, “We are mortgaging our fields, our vineyards and our homes to get grain during the famine.”
4 Still others were saying, “We have had to borrow money to pay the king’s tax on our fields and vineyards. 5 Although we are of the same flesh and blood as our fellow Jews and though our children are as good as theirs, yet we have to subject our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters have already been enslaved, but we are powerless, because our fields and our vineyards belong to others.”
6 When I heard their outcry and these charges, I was very angry. 7 I pondered them in my mind and then accused the nobles and officials. I told them, “You are charging your own people interest!” So I called together a large meeting to deal with them 8 and said: “As far as possible, we have bought back our fellow Jews who were sold to the Gentiles. Now you are selling your own people, only for them to be sold back to us!” They kept quiet, because they could find nothing to say.
9 So I continued, “What you are doing is not right. Shouldn’t you walk in the fear of our God to avoid the reproach of our Gentile enemies? 10 I and my brothers and my men are also lending the people money and grain. But let us stop charging interest! 11 Give back to them immediately their fields, vineyards, olive groves and houses, and also the interest you are charging them—one percent of the money, grain, new wine and olive oil.”
12 “We will give it back,” they said. “And we will not demand anything more from them. We will do as you say.”
