A strong majority of Americans support amending the U.S. Constitution to replace the Electoral College with a popular vote system, according to a new poll from Gallup.
The survey found that 61 percent support moving to a popular vote system, up 6 points from 2019 and up 12 points from 2016.
Eighty-nine percent of Democrats and 68 percent of independents support replacing the Electoral College system, while only 23 percent of Republicans favor moving to a popular vote system.
President Trump won the Electoral College in 2016 despite losing the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by about 3 million votes.
A candidate has won the White House while losing the popular vote only four times in U.S. history. But it’s happened twice in the past five presidential elections, with Trump and George W. Bush both winning the White House and losing the popular vote count. . . .
Democratic support for abolishing the Electoral College is the highest on record, while GOP support is near its all-time low.
The nation was fairly evenly divided when Gallup polled the question after Trump’s victory in November of 2016, when 49 percent supported amending the Constitution and 47 percent opposed it. . . .
The Gallup survey of 1,019 U.S. adults was conducted Aug. 31-Sept. 13 and has a 4 percentage point margin of error.

You need the electoral vote ! Only someone who doesn’t understand how the election’s work would would say such things! It’s called ignorance
We live in a Constitutional Republic, one in which your rights are protected and everyone is represented. Implementation of the popular vote in national elections will misrepresent the vote of roughly 78% of US voters who do not live in large cities or suburbs. Candidates will then only campaign in the largest cities (NYC, LA, CHI etc.) This process is not constitutional and should not happen.
Heavenly Father, Bless and protect our country. Our founders acknowledged and thanked You for their wisdom for it was through YOU that our country was formed. Continue to touch the hearts of our leaders and reach the hearts and minds of those ignorant of YOU. In YOUR Son’s Holy name, Amen
Father God, THIS is the day the Lord has made. I pray your covering over the following dates:
November 3rd – election
December 14th – Electors from each state cast their votes
January 3rd – the new Congress is seated
January 6th – House and Senate meet jointly for a formal count of the Electoral Vote.
January 20th – Inauguration
Each of these dates are crucially important in our nation. I pray that your will be done on each of them and that there will be honesty, peace, integrity, truth and justice on each of these dates. In Jesus Name. Amen.

it’s very sad and extremely unfortunate that the citizens of the United States of America do not know and understand why our founding fathers put the Electoral College in place. If Civics/American Government had been taught in the schools, like it was prior to the 1960s, the people today would not be ignorant of the necessity of this very necessary safeguard for equal and balanced governing the United States of America.
Without the Electoral College, the highly populated areas would have the most votes and would rule over the rest of the country (towns, villages, rural areas, etc).
I’m sure someone else could explain this better……………feel free to do so.
Everyone needs to know the importance of the Electoral College and why we must use it.

Father God, the Electoral College is very important as a safeguard against Taxation without Representation. Please teach this to our children. Please educate the electorate with facts. The people of Iowa do not want the people of New York City deciding government policy for them because they have no idea what corn farmers need. Thank you for the divine wisdom of the Electoral College. It is foundational to fairness in our elections. We ask for your divine protection of the wise parts of our governing system. We pray against the tyranny of those who want power at all costs. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Thank you Father God for the wisdom of the electoral college. It is a safeguard and we pray that it would stay in place. No misinformation or deception prevail, but the truth for why it was established be divinely discerned by all Americans. Truth, justice, and liberty for all voices to be heard through the proper and righteous application of this safeguard we pray in Jesus’ righteous name. Amen.
This is a very important issue. This process shows the brilliance of our Founding Fathers. Every state being important and having a say in the governing of The United States of America. The choice of going along with The Popular Vote to me is like going along with “mob rule”. Since our Constitution is based on The Bible, if God had allowed “mob rule”, I can envision the Bible basically ending around Moses’ time.
Plus, if Hillary got the popular vote it wasn’t cause she won it fairly.
I started questioning the media’s statement about who won the popular vote over the years after it was repeated over and over again and again that Hillary had won it this time. How do they know? Is it possible that all these years that the person who won the election(if won fairly) also won the popular vote as well? We may never know till we get to Heaven?
